Chapter 195: Great Sun Tathagata Glazed Sutra
Chapter 195: Great Sun Tathagata Glazed Sutra
After a moment of silence, Mu Feng slowly began to speak.
After hearing about the tragedy of Jing Family Village, unexpectedly, the fierce-tempered Sky Splitting Tiger did not fly into a rage. Instead, he fell into a deep silence. He did not utter a word, remaining silent in a way that was unnerving. His eyes were completely red.
“Second brother, so you’re saying that Jing Family Village now only has three people left: me, Chu San, and Shuang’er. Chu San went to learn martial arts under a master, but what about Shuang’er?” After a long while, Sky Splitting Tiger finally spoke, his voice raspy.
“After breaking through the outer restrictions of the Ethereal Temple, big brother, you were unconscious and on the verge of death. In order to save you, under the guidance of Ghost Mother Granny, Shuang’er and I traveled to a very distant place to visit a master alchemist. We begged for a few legendary Yang Soul Pills, but the condition was…”
As Mu Feng spoke, he was reminded once again of Jing Wushuang, who had leaned against him affectionately during their journey. His eyes reddened slightly. He quickly lowered his head a bit to avoid giving anything away. After pausing briefly, he slowly continued, “That master alchemist’s cultivation was unfathomable, and their alchemy skills were unmatched in the world, but they had never taken a disciple in their life. After meeting us, they said that Shuang’er had a Mysterious Yin Body and generously agreed to our request. The condition was that Shuang’er had to become their disciple, their final apprentice. They took Shuang’er away to travel the world, to gain experience across the Great Thousand World.”
Mu Feng mixed truth with falsehood, concealing the crucial details.
If his impulsive elder brother Sky Splitting Tiger found out that Shuang’er had been accepted as a disciple of the Poison Sect by Sect Leader Murong, and that she would never be allowed to leave, destined to spend her life in a deep valley within the Hengling Mountain Range, he would likely charge in recklessly without a second thought.
“Mysterious Yin Body?” Sky Splitting Tiger muttered to himself. “Mysterious Yin Body… Father really wasn’t wrong when he was alive. Shuang’er’s physique truly is extraordinary. Second brother, what is the name of Shuang’er’s master? Did Shuang’er say when she would return?”
“I don’t know!”
Mu Feng shook his head and went on, “We found that master alchemist based on Ghost Mother Granny’s instructions. As for their real name, I have no idea. Regarding when she would return, I asked right then, but Shuang’er’s master did not give a clear answer. They only said that they left a trace of Divine Sense within me. They would bring Shuang’er back when I break through to the True Human Realm and have enough strength to protect her.”
True Human Realm?
Sky Splitting Tiger’s expression turned bitter. His heart was filled with discomfort and overwhelming guilt.
If he hadn’t insisted on entering Pingyuan Ancient Town to slay the so-called thousand-year zombie, their group wouldn’t have been trapped by the outer restrictions of the Ethereal Temple. If he and the other strong, young hunters had been at home, how could that bully Mu Qingyuan have succeeded in his massacre? If he hadn’t remained unconscious for so long, Shuang’er wouldn’t have had to beg others for help, leading to the separation of their siblings!
Although Shuang’er’s master said that they would bring Shuang’er back once Mu Feng cultivated to the True Human Realm, these words were essentially empty—just a polite brush-off.
For ordinary people, reaching the peak of the Mortal Realm was already the limit. Those who could step into the Elite Realm and become so-called dragons and phoenixes among men in the Great Thousand World were one in ten thousand. Those who could break through from the peak of the Elite Realm to the True Human Realm were even rarer than phoenix feathers. Although Mu Feng was exceptionally talented and destined for a bright future, reaching the True Human Realm was no easy feat.
“Life is full of meetings and partings. It’s actually a good thing that Shuang’er could become the disciple of a master alchemist. If nothing else, she will at least have the ability to protect herself in the future. Big brother, you can rest assured!” Mu Feng, observing his brother’s expression, understood the guilt in Sky Splitting Tiger’s heart and offered words of comfort.
“A good thing, yes, a good thing… Hahaha, a fantastic good thing…”
Sky Splitting Tiger laughed heartily, but as he laughed, his eyes grew redder, making others worry about him even more. “Where’s the wine, second brother? Bring the wine! Today, us brothers are drinking until we drop!”
“Alright!”
Mu Feng agreed immediately. Before he could even give an order, the clever and pure Mu Qingzhu had already turned and walked out, commanding the servants to bring food and wine. Soon, servants carrying dishes and wine arrived one after another, covering a large table.
“Good wine, good!”
Sky Splitting Tiger paid no attention to the delicacies on the table, drinking nonstop. At first, he drank cup by cup with Mu Feng; later, he simply drank freely, lifting the wine jar directly, breaking the seal, and gulping it down in one go. He drank jar after jar, a worrying sight.
“Brother Mu Feng, if your big brother drinks like this, won’t he…?” Looking at the drunk, burly, and fierce Sky Splitting Tiger, Mu Qingzhu wore a concerned expression.
“It’s fine, let him drink, let him drink all he wants! After bringing up the wine, all of you may withdraw.”
Mu Feng remained calm, allowing Sky Splitting Tiger to drink his fill.
Drowning sorrows in wine only makes the sorrow deeper. However, not venting the sorrow in one’s heart is even worse.
If kept bottled up inside, sorrow and resentment would take root and sprout deep within, like a tree, becoming impossible to resolve. Some, warped by such feelings, would become great Devil Leaders beyond ordinary understanding. Others, depressed and unhappy, would pass away at a young age!
Mu Feng wasn’t afraid at all of Sky Splitting Tiger drinking gloomily. What he feared was him becoming as numb and unresponsive as Chu San!
After several jars of strong liquor, Sky Splitting Tiger was drunk, completely wasted.
He didn’t throw a drunken fit as Mu Qingzhu had feared. Instead, he simply sprawled on the table, fast asleep, muttering ‘Shuang’er, Shuang’er’ over and over. He slept like that for several hours.
After waking up, he said nothing and continued drinking. He drank until drunk, then slept, and after waking, drank again.
Mu Feng stayed by Sky Splitting Tiger’s side the entire time. When the latter was awake, he drank with him. When the latter was asleep, he quietly kept watch. He didn’t cultivate. Occasionally, by the faint moonlight spilling inside, he flipped through the Buddhist sutra that Master Kongwu had given him.
It was an ancient Buddhist sutra, or perhaps a very unique and different cultivation method.
When cultivating, one didn’t absorb Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy like ordinary methods. Instead, one sat cross-legged in stillness, silently reciting the Sanskrit verses from the sutra. It was outwardly gentle but inwardly firm. Through reciting the Sanskrit, one could calm the body and mind completely, using Divine Sense to temper one’s bones and muscles. One imagined standing under a three-thousand-foot waterfall, allowing the water to wash over the body; or falling into a hellish furnace, where the skin gradually melted in the scalding magma, but the bones and muscles grew tougher, becoming as clear and transparent as pure land glazed glass, indestructible…
Using Divine Sense to strike—in some ways, this Buddhist sutra shared similarities with the Visualization Great Art taught by Ghost Mother. According to the sutra, after cultivating to a later stage, the bones and muscles throughout the body would transform into eternal, indestructible pure land glazed glass. Among common folk, some called it relics, or Buddha bones. Only highly attained monks would leave these behind after their passing, treasured and enshrined in temples everywhere.
Great Sun Tathagata Glazed Sutra!
Mu Feng hadn’t deliberately set out to cultivate it. His original intention was just to flip through it casually while keeping his elder brother Sky Splitting Tiger company. But as he read, gradually, he started to realize the power and profundity of this Buddhist sutra!
