Chapter 74: The Noble Ones

On the rooftop of the Green Gem Hotel, inside a greenhouse specially built for honored guests, flowers bloomed brightly.

Large pieces of glass from the Vias Commercial Federation formed this huge greenhouse. The temperature inside was pleasant, and the humidity was just right. Warm steam continuously sprayed from pipe outlets, creating mist inside the greenhouse that looked like natural clouds.

Outside, the wind howled and heavy snow fell, but the cold from outside could not be felt in this room. All the snowflakes that landed on the greenhouse glass evaporated due to the high temperature inside. Thousands of artificially cultivated red roses bloomed brilliantly in the room. Dewdrops even rolled on the petals, sparkling beautifully under the light.

Arthur and Elham stood in the greenhouse, looking south. The Green Gem Hotel itself was much taller than the nearby buildings, and the greenhouse was built even higher. From here, nothing blocked their view. They could clearly see the vast mountain forests outside Dun Er Ke city and the dark Black Pine Forest, which stood motionless like a wall in the cold wind.

Suddenly, a red glow shot up into the sky. The light was so dazzling that Arthur had to squint.

The red glow lasted for three full breaths before slowly fading. Then, the mountain forest burst into a fierce fire. The flames even dyed the sky red. After a while, a faint explosive sound came through. Amid the howling wind, if Arthur and Elham hadn’t listened carefully, they wouldn’t have heard that weak roar.

The mountain fire was soon put out by the strong wind and heavy snow. In such a cold winter, even the biggest forest fires could not last long. The air was too humid for the fire to spread.

“What a pity!” Arthur sighed disappointedly, picked up a glass of sparkling wine, and took a small sip. “They were my strongest and most loyal warriors. It’s a shame they can’t serve me forever. Arthur’s face changed slightly. He whispered, “Are you sure it was Lin Qi?”

Elham stared at Arthur and asked, “Who else could it be? Ya and Ling never had contact with outsiders in Dun Er Ke!”

Arthur’s face twitched. He gritted his teeth and said, “Damn it, damn it! Then, you can’t stay here. Leave quickly. I’ll have my people take you out of Dun Er Ke. Hurry to the Imperial Capital. You can’t remain here.”

Elham suddenly understood. He gasped, gritted his teeth, and said angrily, “Would they dare to kill envoys of the Church?”

Arthur looked at Elham oddly. He muttered quietly, “If they kill all who know, chop you up to feed the fish, and your belongings appear in the suburbs of a faraway city, who would know where you were killed?”

Elham closed his mouth. A blue vein bulged on his forehead. He was extremely angry. But he didn’t say another word. He put down his glass and quickly followed Arthur out of the greenhouse. They returned to their suite through a private passage.

In the bedroom belonging to Ya and Ling inside the suite, the two women soaked in a large bathtub. They scrubbed their bodies with soap, looking disgusted.

Their fair and delicate skin had already turned red from scrubbing. It was almost rubbed raw enough to bleed. But they still scrubbed carefully, from between their toes to the small patch of skin behind their ears. They did not miss any spot.

After the Black Spirit men left, they had returned to their room and washed themselves over and over. More than an hour had passed since the Black Spirit men left. They had bathed more than ten times, but they still felt dirty. They kept gritting their teeth and scrubbing their bodies.

On the carpet next to the bathtub, a thumb-sized red crystal had shattered. A faint fiery light rose slowly from the crystal. This was a punishment medium, a tool for remotely controlling certain talismans, seals, or Magic Arrays. By using a spell to break the crystal, a specific Magic creation far away could unleash its greatest power.

Their skin red from scrubbing, the two women complained in murmurs. Their pretty faces twisted like witches’. “Damn lowlifes, black-skinned sinners! They actually dared to touch our bodies! “Why do such filthy creatures exist in the world? Sinners should all be destroyed, but these black-skinned sinners should be eliminated first.” Ya and Ling were so angry their faces turned blue. They changed the soap again, got a new towel, and tried hard to scrub each other’s backs.

They scrubbed so hard, as if they wanted to rub off a layer of skin.

To clean themselves thoroughly, they even used nearly boiling hot water, not minding the heat. Their bodies soaked in the scalding water, scrubbed hard with rough towels, until finally thin streams of blood flowed in the bathtub. Their skin had been rubbed raw.

“Deity, since you created noble beings like us, why do you keep those damned sinners?”

The two women were so upset that tears fell. Their bodies trembled as they scrubbed themselves repeatedly. Even though blood was flowing, they kept washing. They repeatedly mentioned their noble origins and cursed the black-skinned Black Spirit people, blaming the Deity for not cleansing those sinners completely.

“May their Souls suffer eternal torment in flames!”

These two noble young ladies gave such wonderful regards to their rescuers.
