Chapter 54: The Twin Sisters

Strong winds whipped the waves, crashing them against the breakwater of Dornick Port.

In the distance, a faintly visible iceberg a hundred meters tall was pushed by the fierce wind, moving with the ocean waves and smashing toward the port’s breakwater. Four jet-black horses, like nocturnal elves, pulled a Four-Wheel Carriage silently along the street beside the dock. Beneath the fur of these horses were strange, iron-blue patterns. They were mixed-blood descendants of the magical beast ‘Qingyun Beast’ and the Pureblood Horse, far surpassing pureblood horses in both strength and speed.

They were precisely the twin sisters, Ya and Ling, whom Elham had instructed to test Lin Qi’s background.

Their lips moved slightly as they silently recited the Punishment Laws. A faint flame flickered between their eyebrows, and the spacious carriage was filled with a suffocating, scorching pressure. However, this pressure—enough to crush an ordinary person to pieces—was precisely contained within the carriage, not leaking out in the slightest.

Gradually, a faint glow of fire enveloped both of them. The flames around their bodies intertwined and merged, and as they continued to blend, the crimson flames took on a hint of sacred, brilliant platinum white. Just as their aura was about to reach its peak, the carriage suddenly stopped. The driver muttered in a low voice, “Ladies, the Golden Rose is at the end of this alley.”

The flames around Ya and Ling retracted into their bodies simultaneously. In perfect unison, they closed their scripture volumes and, with a light swipe of their fingers, the two heavy books vanished without a trace. They glanced at each other, then opened the carriage door and stepped out with the dignified pace befitting young ladies from a great noble family.

Following close behind their carriage, another carriage emitted a flurry of sparkling jewels and pearls as a young man, as plump as a ball of meat, squeezed out with difficulty. This young man, who only reached Ya and Ling’s shoulders but weighed several times more than both of them combined, panted heavily as he approached the two girls. He bowed with extreme respect and flattery, saying, “Honorable Miss Aya and Miss Aling, this is the most interesting place in Dun Er Ke—the Golden Rose.”

Taking a deep breath and savoring the faint, delicate scent of the girls with some dirty thoughts, the young man struggled to bend further. “Please believe me, dear ladies. I, Lafontaine, am the most famously honest broker in all of Dun Er Ke. At the Golden Rose, you can find all sorts of interesting things.”

Ya and Ling glanced coldly at Lafontaine, who was as fat as a pig, and gave a slight nod.

Lafontaine bowed repeatedly with great eagerness, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and, panting with every few steps, led Ya and Ling into the alley.

With the guidance of Lafontaine, known for his extensive connections among Dun Er Ke’s brokers, Ya and Ling easily entered the Golden Rose Lounge. Lafontaine asked the gatekeeper about Jin and the other young masters and ladies’ location, then familiarly led the two girls to the Beast-Fighting Arena.
