Chapter 15: Generous Gron

The sensitive Mr. Gron noticed Lin Qi’s subtle glance. He casually straightened his body, deliberately puffing out his lower abdomen. With this subtle body language, Mr. Gron was warning Lin Qi – the things you are guessing do not exist, the honorable Lord Gron is a manly, iron-willed man who has not lost any of his vigor from his youth.

But Mr. Gron’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to the small crystal medicine bottle in Lin Qi’s palm. He knew who the special guest professor that Lin Qi served was. Master of Secret Medicine Kocha – this was a master-level figure whom the Empire had spent a huge price to recruit. The most famous thing about Master Kocha was that ten years ago, in the royal hunting grounds of a certain country on the Western Continent, he used a single dose of a life-restoring elixir to save a king whose internal organs had been severely injured by a magical beast.

Ten years had passed, and that king, whose liver had been torn to shreds back then, was still alive and well, still energetically managing the affairs of his kingdom, both big and small.

With such miraculous skills, perhaps this small bottle of medicine in Lin Qi’s hand really came from the amazing Mr. Kocha? A miraculous potion extracted from mysterious herbs of The East? It sounded very tempting.

Rubbing his nose with the smooth, silver-inlaid head of his small mountain vine cane, Mr. Gron gave a few noncommittal cold laughs. “Master Kocha is a respectable great man, Lin Qi. You wouldn’t use fake medicine to damage the master’s reputation, would you?”

Lin Qi looked at Mr. Gron in surprise, shrugged his shoulders, and gave a strange laugh. “Did I say this potion was brewed by Master Kocha?”

Gron gave a few more noncommittal cold laughs and gently shook his head. He thought he had seen through Lin Qi’s little trick. This potion was definitely produced by Master Kocha. With Lin Qi’s connections and network in Borelly City, what other good potion could this little rogue possibly get? The only place he could get potions was Kocha’s laboratory.

Lin Qi also fell silent. He walked over to Gron, took a small piece of Black Bread out of his sleeve, then opened the medicine bottle and dropped a drop of pale pink, viscous potion onto the bread. After the potion was fully absorbed by the bread, Lin Qi whistled and threw the Black Bread into the room, where it landed right in front of the small golden dachshund that was snoring in front of the fireplace.

The dachshund, which was over a foot long, slowly lifted its eyelids. It looked at the Black Bread in front of it, sniffed it carefully with its nose, hesitated for a while, and then opened its mouth and swallowed the piece of Black Bread. Gron waved his cane dismissively. Black Bread? His wife doted on this little dachshund the most; it usually ate oatmeal and white bread. When had it ever eaten such low-quality food like Black Bread?

“Rogue student, always a rogue student!” Gron twisted his mouth slightly. He looked at Lin Qi with some distaste. “But, University City needs students like this to exist.”

Gron knew perfectly well that he had accomplished several things through Lin Qi, including tracking his wife’s carriage and finding out the true identity of the nobleman his wife had recently hooked up with. Of course, these matters were all handled through Father Barin; the two of them had never had direct contact.

This was the first time Lin Qi and Mr. Gron had spoken face to face. Mr. Gron was full of disdain for Lin Qi, but at the same time, he was also filled with apprehension.

Just as Mr. Gron was frowning and thinking about these messy matters – about three to five breaths of time later – the small dachshund, whose fur was originally glossy and smooth, suddenly began to tremble violently. Its originally purplish-green eyes suddenly became bloodshot, turning completely crimson. It let out low growls, and its golden fur stood on end, making its slender body appear exceptionally thick and strong.

What became thicker and stronger wasn’t just the body of this poor little dog; a certain part of its body was swelling rapidly at an astonishing speed.

It was the middle of winter, not the season for animals like cats and dogs to be in heat; rather, it was a time for them to conserve energy for the coming year. But after eating that piece of Black Bread, this little dog had become incredibly energetic. It panted heavily, its bloodshot eyes staring fixedly at a soft cushion on Mr. Gron’s chair just moments before, and with a yelp, it pounced on it.

With a tiger-like leap onto the chair, the small dachshund curled the corners of its mouth, revealing a strange smile. It hugged the cushion, made from Silk from The East and long-staple cotton from the Middle East, with its four limbs, and its body began to buck violently.

Mr. Gron’s mouth fell open. He had also taken some strange medicines during times when he felt inadequate, but none of them had such a miraculous effect. In just three to five breaths, this little dachshund had become so impulsive, so full of vigor and power?

Mr. Gron’s heart began to beat violently. A burning sensation spread in his lower abdomen. Suddenly, the lovely face of Miss Gina, the lead dancer of that Gisean traveling troupe, flashed before his eyes, along with her youthful, agile, and beautiful body, like that of a female leopard.

“Oh, this miraculous potion!” Gron put his hands behind his back with restraint and said in a lowered voice, “Alright, student Lin Qi, this bottle of potion, how much do you think it is worth?”

A ‘pfft’ sound was heard. The little dachshund had already pierced a hole in the soft cushion, and clean white cotton fluff flew out in all directions.

The corner of Mr. Gron’s mouth twitched. His interest in the potion grew even stronger. So domineering, so potent. He suddenly remembered his own youthful days.

“One bottle?” Lin Qi looked at Mr. Gron in surprise. “What are you joking about? One bottle? No, no, no, this miraculous potion is extremely difficult to prepare, and its raw materials are incredibly rare. In the mysterious East, only their kings and Nobles are qualified to enjoy it. How could this potion be sold by the bottle?”

With a sly smile, Lin Qi said to the stunned Mr. Gron, “One drop, one Gold Coin, dear Mr. Gron. This miraculous potion is sold drop by drop. Look, there’s a ready-made example right here. See how full of vitality your little darling is now?”

The poor little dachshund had already torn that soft cushion to shreds. Impatiently, it jumped onto the sofa in the corner of the room, hugging a new cushion and vigorously humping it.

Mr. Gron stared intently at the shredded cushion, thoughtfully rubbing his chin with his cane. “One drop, one Gold Coin, that should be a very fair and reasonable price. I must admit, this miraculous potion is worth that price!”

Puffing out his chest, Mr. Gron said solemnly, “This bottle of potion probably holds about a hundred drops? Student Lin Qi, if you are willing to hand it over to me for thirty Gold Coins, then you, and a few of your friends, will all receive excellent marks in all subjects this year.”

Excellent marks in all subjects?

Thinking of the core members of the Iron Fist Brotherhood, whose grades usually hovered right around the passing mark, Lin Qi immediately shoved the medicine bottle into Mr. Gron’s hand.

“Generous Mr. Gron, it is yours!”
