Chapter 76: Fierce Battle (2)

The Ogres under Bloodthirsty Frenzy had completely lost their sanity. Apart from not attacking their companions, they would kill anyone they perceived as a target. After three rounds of throwing spears achieved nothing, these Ogres grew even angrier. Hundreds of the Ogre army charged forward swiftly.

Ballistas, operated by the Barbarian Warriors, were quickly drawn back. Spear-like bolts measuring two to three meters long shot out. The powerful bolts pierced straight through the Ogres’ bodies; even thick armor offered no protection.

Had the Ballistas not taken so long to reload and had there been more of them, these machines alone could have dealt heavy losses to the Ogres. Seeing the approaching Ogres, the Barbarian Warriors fired one last volley and then seized their weapons.

“Boost Morale!” A brilliant light spread from Su Lun, instantly enveloping all the Barbarian Warriors. Their morale soared even higher.

“Profound Ice Slash!”

Three ice blades materialized before Su Lun. The next second, they shot forward. Ogres in their path were instantly torn apart by the sharp blades. Ogres fell like harvested wheat, nearly all killed in one hit. Frozen marks appeared on their wounds. The ice blades kept moving after slashing through several Ogres before shattering and vanishing. In mere moments, seven or eight Ogres lay dead.

Ear-splitting war drums roared continuously as the Barbarian Warriors also activated Berserk and surged forward. Facing the raging Ogres, the Barbarian Warriors showed no fear. Forty warriors easily blocked the Ogres’ Charge and engaged them in direct combat without hesitation.

The half-plate armor did nothing to reduce their agility. Sharp two-handed axes whirled tirelessly through the air. The Barbarians matched the Ogres in strength, even surpassing them, and their equipment was far better. The only issue was that they numbered less than half of the Ogre force.

“Crunch!”

Su Lun swung his spear, smashing an Ogre’s skull like a watermelon. Chris lashed her whip wildly, activating her innate ability. Several nearby Ogre warriors fell under her control and started swinging their spiked clubs at their own companions.

The entire battlefield defied the Ogre Mage’s expectations—humans weren’t collapsing before the Ogre army. Within mere minutes, Ogre casualties kept rising. The Ogre Mage howled at the sky, grabbed a giant spiked club larger than any common Ogre’s, and charged at Su Lun.

While charging, he cast spells. Glowing auras flickered around him as the Ogre Mage’s speed doubled instantly.

“Haste!”

“Great Strength!”

“Stone Skin!”

“Fireball Spell!”

The Ogre Mage’s spellcasting was incredibly fast, all completed in less than a breath. A Fireball blasted a Yuan-ti blocking his path apart. He raced onward, empowered by Great Strength—now with monstrous power. His giant spiked club crushed another Yuan-ti into pulp.

A Barbarian Warrior swung his axe but was struck by the club and sent flying. His refined steel half-plate armor buckled. Su Lun couldn’t let the Ogre Mage rampage—only the strongest Barbarians could face him at full strength.

“Thunder Lightning Spear!”

Powerful lightning erupted from Su Lun. Blue sparks danced through the air. Two Ogre warriors froze, struck numb, bodies scorched black.

Clang!

Three iron spears flew at Su Lun. The Ogre Mage hurled them rapidly. Su Lun swept his spear aside, deflecting the projectiles, then flashed toward the Ogre Mage.

“Explosive Fireball!”

Fire Elementals gathered frenziedly around the Ogre Mage. Orange-red Fire Elemental Energy radiated violent pulses as a Fireball twice its usual size formed rapidly.

“Magic Nullification!”

The instant he sensed the Fire Elementals gathering, Su Lun cast Magic Nullification. Though powerful, this skill had limits—its range was short.

The Ogre Mage grinned viciously at Su Lun, the fierce fire elements in his hands coalescing, about to hurl the Fireball.

But then a force abruptly engulfed him. His once-flawless control over the elements turned sluggish. The nearly-formed Fireball disintegrated instantly. When he attempted to cast again, all Elemental Energy seemed sealed away—absolutely unresponsive.

As the Ogre Mage froze in shock, Su Lun lunged forward. His spear struck the heavy spiked club, blasting a chip from it. The Ogre Mage stumbled backward.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Metal clashing echoed endlessly. Su Lun’s spear attacks rained down torrentially like a storm. The Ogre Mage blocked constantly with his club. Even blessed with Great Strength, his arms trembled from the force, struggling against each blow.

Every block forced him backwards. Su Lun clearly possessed superior strength.

This storm of blows kept the Ogre Mage solely on defense, unable to attack back. His giant spiked club crackled with lightning sparks jumping onto him from each collision. Without his Stone Skin enhancement and high elemental resistance, these accumulated shocks would have crippled him long ago. Yet even so, his situation grew precarious.

Sensing disaster, the Ogre Mage roared, crushed a bone pendant around his neck, and unleashed a surge of elemental power.

“Bloodthirsty Frenzy!”

His eyes turned blood red. Muscles bulged, veins popped out. His strength surged again. Originally prioritizing spellcasting, he hadn’t activated Berserk. Finding magic useless now, he released the stored frenzy magic from the pendant.

In this Bloodthirsty Frenzy state, his melee prowess skyrocketed—but at the cost of his sanity.

Blessed by Great Strength and under Bloodthirsty Frenzy, he barely withstood Su Lun’s onslaught. Though still weaker than Su Lun, he escaped the previous total domination.

Another clash with Su Lun finally broke their momentum, locking both into a stalemate.
