Chapter 62: The Scheme

Su Lun idly flipped through the pages. The book actually contained detailed dissections of several demon corpses. It seemed the Wizard who built this laboratory here had researched plenty of forbidden knowledge. This also made Su Lun understand why that Wizard had constructed the lab in such a dreadful place.

After searching these rooms, Su Lun turned his gaze to the final door. Judging by the laboratory’s layout, this last door likely led to that Wizard’s Treasure Vault. Considering it might be the greatest treasure within the entire lab, Su Lun deliberately saved it for last.

Approaching the great door of the Treasure Vault, he was surprised to find no Magic Trap set upon it. It just needed the heavy stone door pushed open. The door creaked ajar. But the imagined mountains of Gold Nar didn’t appear. The empty vault was shockingly clean, as if a Goblin had licked it spotless.

Su Lun glowered darkly at the barren space. He couldn’t fathom finding nothing, not even a strand of hair. Stubbornly, he wondered if this vault was merely a decoy, and the real treasure was hidden deeper within.

He soon discovered something unusual inside the vault. Seemingly random lines crisscrossed the floor, and many sections bore etched mana runes. However, Su Lun was no Wizard. Understanding these markings was completely beyond him – like having six holes blocked, only one unblocked yet still comprehending nothing.

“Boss, there’s writing carved here!” One of the Barbarian Warriors called out, pointing at a statue set into the vault wall, just as Su Lun pondered the lines’ meaning.

“What does it say?” Su Lun stood up and walked over.

“Dunno!” the Barbarian Warrior declared with misplaced pride.

“I’ve told you all to learn ages ago! Still can’t read words!” Veins bulged visibly on Su Lun’s temple. He roughly shoved the warrior aside and examined the inscription carved onto the statue: “Except Death, You Shall Gain Nothing!”

“Crap!” Su Lun roared, slapping the statue in fury. “That damn guy did it on purpose! This shabby lab was something he willingly abandoned, left specifically here to trap people!”

It finally clicked for Su Lun. He understood why the laboratory remained so intact while containing so pitifully little. Seeing those words, it was blatant: the Wizard was explicitly telling you, ‘I’m tricking you!’ It was like struggling through countless dangers, surviving near-death experiences to finally find the treasure – poised to become wealthy and reach the peak of your life – only for the treasure’s hider to leave an empty chest. Anyone would absolutely blow their top.

In that instant, Su Lun knew beyond doubt he’d been made a fool by the owner of this laboratory, that unnamed Wizard. The Wizard had deliberately left this lab behind just to trick people.

The thought made Su Lun’s face darken further. This embarrassing episode absolutely could not become known. He warned the Barbarians they must never speak of it, or he’d beat the loudmouth responsible into permanent disability.

The statue Su Lun had slapped pulsed with a subtle, unnoticed surge of mana. Instantly, on the vault floor at its center, points of ethereal light flared into being. The sudden spike in mana fluctuations quickly drew Su Lun’s attention.

“Another summoning circle? That damned Wizard couldn’t come up with something new?” Spotting the rapidly forming magical vortex swirling into existence – likely a dimensional gate – Su Lun flexed his wrists. This summoning circle arrived just in time. He was itching to vent his frustration, and here came the perfect punching bag.

A dark crimson glow shimmered as a mysterious vortex manifested within the vault. The next second, a stunning female figure with captivating curves and striking features materialized before Su Lun.

This female creature possessed a pair of leathery demon wings and two small, elegant horns curling from her forehead. Her face was enchantingly beautiful, radiating an aura of irresistible temptation. Her attire was astonishingly bold – barely qualifying as clothing. Two minuscule scraps of cloth, barely larger than coins, covered her vital areas, while the lower part resembled little more than a few thin cords. She seemed an embodiment of pure desire, appearing capable of fulfilling any craving.

A wave of intense heat surged within Su Lun. His eyes locked onto her, blazing with unmistakable lust.

“The Material Plane? Such luck!” A voice rich with seductive languor resonated, sounding like tiny fingers plucking directly at Su Lun’s heartstrings.

“And so many strong males… would you serve me?” The enthralling voice whispered into his ear again. Simultaneously, a compelling urge bloomed deep inside him, demanding he agree.

Fighting fiercely against the impulse to yield, Su Lun instantly channeled his inner power. A jolt of electricity shot up his spine. As the current surged through him, the haze clouding his expression vanished, replaced by instant awareness.

“Succubus!” Recognition struck Su Lun cold once his mind cleared.

Legend spoke of Demons born from corrupted female human souls. They possessed every feminine trait a man could dream of, the ultimate fantasy partner – except nearly all who encountered them ended up enslaved.

“Hnnngh? Broken free already? Has my charm faded?” The Succubus sounded genuinely surprised as Su Lun regained his Calmness. Among the seven human males in the room, this lean, wiry one seemed the physically weakest. Yet unexpectedly, this seemingly “weakest” human had shaken off her Charm Magic.

“I didn’t expect to summon a Succubus either. Nearly capsized in the drainage ditch.” Su Lun’s gaze trailed suggestively over her form. He had to admit, her physical appearance was the most exceptional he’d encountered in this world. Especially that uniquely alluring aura radiating from her, making Su Lun ache to fiercely battle it out with her for a solid three hundred and sixty rounds.

“You interest me more and more. Seize him for me!” Noticing Su Lun’s intense appraisal, the Succubus gave a dangerous smile. A sharp crack from her whip snapped through the air. The Barbarian Warriors already under her thrall immediately charged at Su Lun.

“Damned fools! Their will is this pathetic? I’ll drill them hard once we’re back!” Seeing his six Barbarian Warriors turn against him, Su Lun’s face darkened further. Betrayed by his own men for the first time, he resolved firmly then and there to make this lesson unforgettable for all Barbarians.

Decision made, action followed without delay. Crackling blue electricity danced along his spear. As the six Barbarians lunged, Su Lun struck out faster. They flew backward even quicker than they’d charged, bodies convulsing under shocking currents that paralyzed them completely. They wouldn’t be twitching again anytime soon.

“Now it’s your turn.” Done with the Barbarians, Su Lun locked his gaze onto the Succubus.

Watching Su Lun dispatch her puppet warriors so effortlessly, the Succubus realized her grievous error. Far from the weakest, this human was practically a flesh-and-blood Tyrannosaur.

“Damn it! Why such rotten luck? Barely grown, finally lucky enough to reach the Prime Material Plane… and I run into this kind of monster?” The Succubus, Chris, screamed internally in utter dismay.
