Chapter 114: Fei Lian
Chapter 114: Fei Lian
The most precious aspect of an Innate Spiritual Treasure was not its overwhelming power or its ability to suppress Fortune, but the fact that it contained a Great Dao Dao Embryo. Obtaining it not only made cultivation twice as effective with half the effort, but also increased the chance of a breakthrough by at least five percent more than an ordinary Postnatal Dao Master when reaching the level of an Innate Dao Lord in the future.
A defective Innate Spiritual Treasure’s Great Dao Dao Embryo was incomplete. Not only would it dissipate if the nurturing process was interrupted, but it would also lose many of its mysteries.
Sitting cross-legged in the cave, Lin Yuan’s Childlike Primordial Spirit operated together with the Great Dao Dao Embryo.
Fortunately, he had achieved the state of an Innate Divine Demon. Otherwise, the Childlike Primordial Spirit of a mere Scattered Immortal would never have been able to withstand this state of merging with the Dao.
After this transformation, Lin Yuan seemed to enter a wondrous state, slowly resonating with an intangible, pulsating aura like that of a fetus.
In the void, Lin Yuan seemed to “see” the Great Dao Dao Embryo, shining like a great sun, emitting brilliant rays of Primordial True Script. Those Primordial True Scripts were incredibly mysterious, seemingly containing countless unfathomable Dao charms. Many of them formed Dao chains, radiating various true intents: creation, bearing, growth, suppression, profound yellow, devouring, life and death…
Lin Yuan’s expression shifted. An anomaly appeared behind him. An earthen yellow gate emerged from the earthen yellow spiritual light at his back. It was exceptionally tall, exuding the flavor of the ancient Primordial World, like the root of heaven and earth, suppressing earth veins, devouring all things, and evolving the universe—profound and mysterious.
As he contemplated, complex Dao patterns vaguely began to appear on that earthen yellow earth gate, with countless turbid yellow auras shifting inside.
It resembled Primordial True Script, yet was not quite the same.
With every slight change in the complex Dao patterns within the gate, the Inner Scene Earth Gate’s speed of absorbing the auras from the numerous Spiritual Veins inside it increased a bit, and the mighty power it radiated grew stronger by a sliver.
The changes in the Inner Scene Earth Gate also affected another Dao attainment treasure within Lin Yuan’s body.
The Primordial Yin-Yang Qiankun Diagram jumped out on its own and plunged into the depths of the Inner Scene Earth Gate. It evolved the mysterious power of Innate Yin-Yang, absorbing part of the changes in the earth’s Yin and Yang, and various restrictions spontaneously formed.
Its power grew increasingly formidable.
Between the two treasures, if the aura emitted by the Earth Gate was one of suppression and slowing all kinds of mana, then the Primordial Yin-Yang Qiankun Diagram greatly enhanced the forces of creation and division.
After an unknown period, Lin Yuan felt a tremor throughout his body. The numerous spiritual restrictions born within the Primordial Yin-Yang Qiankun Diagram suddenly merged into one mysterious Dao Restriction.
It was a Dao Restriction formed from many Primordial True Scripts.
It corresponded precisely to the Primordial Spirit level.
Following that, four more mysterious Dao Restrictions rapidly appeared within the Primordial Yin-Yang Qiankun Diagram, totaling five Innate Dao Restrictions. This corresponded to the Scattered Immortal level.
Progressing from the Scattered Immortal level to the Earth Immortal level similarly required experiencing four Dao Restrictions.
Such progress was truly rapid.
However, Lin Yuan constantly maintained a clear Dao Heart. Relying on the transformative power of the Innate Spiritual Treasure and merging with the Great Dao allowed for rapid advancement, but if his mind completely sank into it, he would be assimilated by the Great Dao Dao Embryo and completely Dao-transformed.
Just as the sixth Dao Restriction was about to appear, Lin Yuan’s body suddenly shuddered.
Outside the cave, the sound of footsteps approached.
All the spiritual lights on Lin Yuan instantly converged. The Inner Scene Earth Gate transformed into a stream of earthen yellow light, swiftly wrapping around Lin Yuan’s entire body and plunging into the earth beneath the cave.
Just as he burrowed underground, a cold, stern voice reached Lin Yuan’s Innate Spiritual Awareness.
“Centipede Steward, during my absence, has there been anything unusual in the cave dwelling?”
“Nothing unusual at all!”
“Your Majesty, rest assured. Our Jade Chain Mountain has tens of thousands of little demons guarding it, along with the secret formation passed down by Your Majesty. Anyone who dares to barge into our Jade Chain Mountain has a death wish!”
Another hoarse voice replied, tinged with flattery. Two sets of footsteps were walking towards this cave.
“Good, you’ve done well. Later, go to the treasury and fetch some precious armor and spirit medicines. You take the lion’s share, and distribute the rest among the commanders!”
“Thank you, Your Majesty!” The Centipede Steward’s voice was exceptionally joyful.
After probably placating his subordinate with a few more words, the extremely vigilant Demon King sent his trusted aide away.
The footsteps grew closer and soon reached the front of the cave. A sharp-faced, martial figure strode into the cave. Along with him came an immensely heavy spiritual pressure and a ferocious aura, within which was a savage power like the wailing of ghosts and howling of wolves.
The martial young man entered the cave. His eyes swept over the Earth-Sundering Pearl being nurtured on the pond. His emotions weren’t shown on his face, but it was still apparent that a trace of fervent yet regretful color flashed in his eyes.
“What a pity…”
It was unclear what this Demon King was regretting, but Lin Yuan could probably guess. The Demon King was likely regretting that he had no affinity with this Innate Spiritual Treasure.
If one lacked affinity with an Innate Spiritual Treasure and their Dao path was incompatible, even if they obtained it, they could only unleash a portion of its mysteries.
After observing for a moment, the Demon King silently walked to the wall of a stone chamber next to the cave.
Glancing around, he formed hand seals. Waves of demonic power surged, and instantly, an ice-blue light flew out and landed on the wall. Using the power of the Inner Scene Earth Gate, Lin Yuan saw a fiery red fire cavern appear behind the wall.
Intensely high temperatures rose. Even an ordinary Primordial Spirit expert would struggle to withstand that terrifying, strange, scorching heat.
A pale red staircase extended directly to a cooled magma platform. Through his spiritual awareness merged with the earth veins, Lin Yuan sensed a terrifying figure imprisoned there.
Two huge iron chains pierced through that figure’s shoulder blades. Additionally, several intangible chains sealed all of that figure’s mana, suppressing it completely.
That figure was extremely fearsome!
“You’ve come again. Still not giving up?”
A faint panting sound accompanied the cold voice that emerged from beneath the black hair hanging over that figure’s face, carrying an icy tone.
The Demon King, who had stepped into the fire cavern, spoke expressionlessly.
“Junior Brother, I advise you to hand over Master’s legacy sooner rather than later. Stop resisting stubbornly and spare yourself further suffering!”
After a slight silence, his voice carried a hint of warmth. “Junior Brother Fei Lian, why must you be like this? We once entered the Dao Master’s school together and knew each other well. If you’re sensible, I can swear to definitely leave you a path to life!”
That figure lowered its head, a trace of a scornful curve forming at the corner of its mouth.
“Scarlet Chain, don’t waste your effort on me. Back then, you betrayed the imperial dynasty, causing Master’s death, and now you still want the divine abilities and profound techniques he left behind? Do you think that’s possible?”
“Also, Scarlet Chain, even if I were to teach you that supreme profound technique, with your aptitude, you wouldn’t be able to cultivate it!”
These words seemed to stab a wound in his heart. The Demon King could no longer contain his expression and said sharply, “Fei Lian, you’re just a bastard child of our clan. What gives you the right to look down on me?”
…
Hidden underground at this moment by the Inner Scene Earth Gate, Lin Yuan took in the scene within the fire cavern!
This matter of mutual harm between fellow disciples had nothing to do with him. As long as they didn’t interrupt the nurturing of the Earth-Sundering Pearl, Lin Yuan wouldn’t easily act.
Lin Yuan’s attention, however, fell on a study in the adjacent stone chamber. His Innate Spiritual Awareness sensed that there seemed to be many good things stored there.
There were also many profound technique texts, which greatly attracted Lin Yuan’s attention.
