Chapter 9: Meeting Du Xiaoyue Again
Chapter 9: Meeting Du Xiaoyue Again
After the taxi driver took a few shortcuts on small streets, in less than half an hour, the taxi stopped at the gate of Donghai University.
Lin Mu was about to get out of the taxi when he suddenly remembered something. He reached into his pocket, and an awkward smile appeared on his face. The pocket was actually completely empty.
On Earth, nothing could be done without money. For instance, taking a taxi required paying the fare.
The taxi driver looked at Lin Mu warily, his eyebrows raised high. “Young man, don’t tell me you didn’t bring any money?”
“Uh, well, sorry, sir!” Lin Mu laughed awkwardly. “I just came out of the hospital and forgot I had no money on me.”
“What?” The taxi driver immediately looked unlucky. “Are you really a student of Donghai University?”
“Yes, I’m a sophomore in the History Department of Donghai University,” Lin Mu quickly nodded.
“Then it’s easy. Just ask your classmate to come out and pay for you. You can pay them back later,” the driver said with a satisfied smile, quite impressed with his own quick thinking.
“Uh.” Lin Mu was momentarily speechless. He did have classmates, of course, but the problem was he couldn’t remember any of them now. Where could he find his classmate?
Just as he was thinking about what to do, a clear voice called from not far away. “Lin Mu? Why are you at school?”
Lin Mu felt as if he had received a pardon. He quickly turned to look out the window.
A petite girl was walking toward the taxi. She was about 160 centimeters tall, had a slightly round oval face, neat ear-length short hair, and big, sparkling eyes. She looked very small and cute.
“Ah, well, I forgot to bring money, so I don’t have enough to pay the fare,” Lin Mu said sheepishly, rubbing his head.
“Oh, it’s alright, I have some with me.” Tang Beibei smiled without concern, about to take out money, but then her gaze suddenly returned to Lin Mu’s face with a strange expression. “So you took sick leave to get plastic surgery?”
“Huh?” Lin Mu was stunned for a moment, then shook his head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “No, no plastic surgery. Can you lend me some money for the fare first?”
The two paid the fare and then walked into the campus. After hearing Lin Mu’s story, Tang Beibei looked completely stunned.
“You say you fell and completely lost your memory? You don’t remember anyone?”
“Yes, I forgot everything, even your name. Sorry about that,” Lin Mu apologized with a smile. He had just learned Tang Beibei’s name, but aside from those three characters, he couldn’t recall anything else.
“What did the doctor say? Is there any chance you might recover?” Tang Beibei asked, frowning.
“I don’t know. Maybe there’s a possibility,” Lin Mu said, shaking his head with a wry smile.
“Actually, maybe losing your memory isn’t such a bad thing!” Tang Beibei suddenly smiled cheerfully and made a funny face at Lin Mu. “Sometimes I wish I could lose my memory too, forget some things I don’t want to remember.”
Lin Mu smiled slightly, thinking Tang Beibei was just trying to comfort him. As they walked and chatted, a group of brightly dressed girls approached from the opposite direction.
Especially the girl in the middle, who gave off a stunning, eye-catching feeling. Even Lin Mu couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.
Du Xiaoyue was chatting with her girlfriends when she suddenly noticed a gaze falling on her, freely looking her up and down. She immediately looked over displeased.
When she looked, she felt a sense of familiarity.
After observing more carefully, she was surprised to realize that the boy was actually Lin Mu!
But he seemed somehow different from the Lin Mu she remembered. Just his height was a full 5 centimeters taller than before. He looked similar, but not exactly the same.
Frowning, Du Xiaoyue walked over with a few of her good sisters and stopped in front of Lin Mu. She looked him up and down carefully, then asked disdainfully, “You, did you get plastic surgery?”
“No, I just…”
Seeing the beautiful girl come straight over to speak to him, Lin Mu naturally thought she knew him, but halfway through his sentence, Tang Beibei interrupted from the side.
“Yes, Lin Mu had some minor cosmetic procedures. What do you think, he’s quite handsome now, right?”
After hearing Tang Beibei’s words, the look of disgust on Du Xiaoyue’s face intensified. She gave Lin Mu another once-over, appearing very scornful.
“Don’t think just because you made yourself taller and a bit more handsome, you can dream of fulfilling the marriage contract with me. A loser will always be a loser. Plastic surgery can change your appearance, but it can’t change your essence.”
Although Lin Mu had lost his memory, he wasn’t an idiot. This beautiful girl in front of him seemed to dislike him a lot, and her words mentioned that there was a marriage contract between them.
“Could it be because of this marriage contract that there was conflict?”
The thought crossed Lin Mu’s mind. After all, he was an ancient being who had experienced tens of thousands of years of cultivation. In terms of life experience, the entire history of humankind wasn’t as long as his memories.
But understanding was one thing; the current Lin Mu wasn’t the coward he used to be. He was Cang Kunzi, the unrivaled expert who dominated the Cultivation World, known as the number one master!
Although he had lost all his cultivation now, his pride was deeply engraved in his soul.
Even if you are a rare beauty, how dare you insult me?
