Chapter 80: Reunion
Chapter 80: Reunion
The three girls all nodded immediately. Song Yuru then asked, “Sister, did you come to find A-Mu for something? A-Mu hasn’t come home for days, and we don’t know where he is.”
“I know. He stayed at my place these past few days and just left this morning. But the tunnel in Central is blocked by accumulated water. I was worried something might have happened to him, so I came to check. But A-Mu still hasn’t arrived at school.”
Zhou Shiyun said with a very anxious expression.
“What?!”
“A-Mu was at your place these past few days?”
“Are you A-Mu’s older sister?”
The three girls immediately asked, one after another.
“Well, you could say that.”
Zhou Shiyun nodded and said, “A-Mu was seriously injured a few days ago. I saved him. He rested at my home for several days to recover and only left this morning.”
“A-Mu was seriously injured?”
Song Yuru was immediately shocked and quickly asked.
“Yes, very serious. If I hadn’t passed by that day, he probably wouldn’t be here now. He might not even have lasted an hour. But it’s fine now; his injuries are healed.”
Zhou Shiyun briefly explained the situation.
“I knew it. A-Mu wouldn’t just disappear without a word. Something did happen.”
Ye Zixi said with a grave face, her brows tightly furrowed.
“But A-Mu left in the morning. Why hasn’t he arrived at school yet? Did something happen on the way again?”
Song Yuru wore a worried expression.
“Probably not. I think it’s because of the traffic jam in Central. Lin Mu might be stuck on the road for a while. It’s nothing serious. He might arrive at school a bit later.”
Zhou Shiyun smiled slightly, comforting the three girls.
“Should we drive to look for him?”
Ling Xuanrong suggested from the side.
“Forget it. We should wait here. Otherwise, if A-Mu returns and we go out, we might just miss each other.”
Ye Zixi shook her head, thinking they should stay and keep waiting for Lin Mu.
Until school ended in the afternoon, Lin Mu still hadn’t returned to school. Song Yuru and the other two girls had no choice but to go home first. However, they exchanged phone numbers with Zhou Shiyun and agreed to notify each other immediately if there was any news about Lin Mu.
As soon as the three girls returned home, they found Lin Mu sitting in the living room blow-drying his hair, looking like he had just taken a shower.
Ye Zixi was so angry that her teeth itched. She rushed over and ruffled Lin Mu’s hair into a messy bird’s nest.
“Stupid A-Mu! Smelly A-Mu! You still have time to dry your hair here! Do you know how worried we were about you?!”
“That’s right! We waited for you all day at school!”
“And here you are, back alone, having taken a shower and comfortably drying your hair!”
The three girls immediately started scolding Lin Mu together, leaving him stunned and confused.
“And there’s a beautiful woman who waited for you all day in the school hallway! Her lips turned purple from the cold! Speak! What good thing did you do with her? Otherwise, why would she come all the way to school to wait for you?”
Song Yuru gave Lin Mu a disapproving look, took the hair dryer from his hand, and started drying his hair for him.
“Yuru! You’re still protecting him like this!”
Ye Zixi was also speechless. She was about to seriously question Lin Mu about what had happened these past few days, but in the blink of an eye, Song Yuru had already switched sides.
“Ah, A-Mu has just recovered from a serious illness. He can’t catch a cold. We need to dry his hair first!”
Song Yuru found an excuse and started blow-drying Lin Mu’s hair on her own.
“Wait, how did you know I just recovered from a serious illness?”
Lin Mu found it strange. He hadn’t said anything yet, so how did the three girls seem to know already?
“Your Sister Zhou told us. She stood waiting for you all day in the school hallway! Just because the tunnel in Central was blocked by water, she was worried about you and came specially to check if you had arrived at school!”
“And you! Heartless and careless, taking a hot shower at home and leisurely drying your hair!”
Ling Xuanrong and Ye Zixi took turns speaking, leaving Lin Mu speechless.
“Are you talking about Dr. Zhou Shiyun?”
Lin Mu shook his head and smiled wryly. He hadn’t expected Zhou Shiyun to come to school to look for him, just because she was worried something might have happened to him on the road. If he hadn’t needed to save Luo Bingyun, he wouldn’t have been delayed for so long.
This way, he owed Zhou Shiyun another favor.
“Yes, it’s that beautiful Sister Zhou. Hurry up and tell us, how did you get involved with her?”
Ye Zixi sat cross-legged on the sofa, looking like she was ready for a serious interrogation.
“What do you mean, ‘get involved’?!”
Lin Mu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so he had to explain.
“When I fell from the building and almost died that time, it was Dr. Zhou from First Hospital who saved me. If it weren’t for her, I probably would have died long ago. I wouldn’t be sitting here now.”
“Four days ago, at the charity banquet, when I left early alone, I was attacked by two groups of assassins on the way. I barely managed to kill one of them and was seriously injured myself.”
“Luckily, I ran into Dr. Zhou again. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have survived until today. Actually, this Dr. Zhou has saved my life twice now. Each time, I was severely injured and near death. I still don’t know how to thank her properly!”
Although the three girls felt tense hearing about Lin Mu’s dangerous experiences—being attacked by two groups of assassins and barely escaping with serious injuries—their initial worry soon passed.
“This Dr. Zhou sounds like a really good person. You could choose to repay her with your hand in marriage! She’s beautiful, highly skilled in medicine—a good woman hard to find even with a lantern!”
Ye Zixi resumed her role as a little devil, grinning as she spoke.
“You! Always randomly matching people up! There isn’t that much ‘repaying with marriage.’ You’ve watched too much TV!”
Lin Mu gave the grinning Ye Zixi a stern look and poked her forehead with his index finger.
Ye Zixi immediately covered her forehead, putting on an expression of extreme grief, and turned to throw herself into Ling Xuanrong’s arms.
“See, he has other women outside, and this is how he treats the woman at home. I don’t want to live anymore!”
Her act of a wronged little wife made Song Yuru and Ling Xuanrong burst out laughing, but Lin Mu let out a sharp cry.
“Ah! Hot! It’s hot!”
“Sorry, sorry, let me blow on it for you.”
Song Yuru quickly snapped back to reality. She was still holding the hair dryer. In her burst of laughter, she hadn’t noticed it was too close to Lin Mu’s hair, scalding him half to death.
Now it was Ye Zixi’s turn to laugh heartily, tears streaming from her eyes. In her carelessness, she rolled off the sofa and onto the floor.
Now all four people in the living room burst into laughter, and for a while, the room was filled with joy and laughter.
“By the way, we should call Sister Zhou quickly, so she doesn’t worry at home alone.”
After laughing for a while, Ling Xuanrong suddenly remembered. She quickly took out her phone and called Zhou Shiyun. After reporting that everything was fine, she finally felt relieved.
After dinner, the four of them finally settled down in the living room. At this point, they formally brought up the matter of Lin Mu’s assassination attempt.
“If it really comes to it, we might have to use our family connections to investigate and find out exactly who wants A-Mu dead. This is just too dangerous.”
Song Yuru said with a serious expression.
“Yeah, luck might not always be this good. What if next time you don’t run into Dr. Zhou? Wouldn’t that be the end?”
Ye Zixi also looked worried.
“You! Always talking nonsense! What do you mean, ‘the end’?”
Ling Xuanrong poked Ye Zixi’s smooth forehead hard and gave her a reproachful look.
“It’s the truth! Why poke me again? So annoying!”
Ye Zixi rubbed her forehead, looking wronged.
“Can’t you say something nicer?”
Ling Xuanrong also looked exasperated.
Ye Zixi pursed her lips, silently moving them without making a sound. Clearly, she wasn’t saying anything nice.
Lin Mu found her playful demeanor amusing. He chuckled softly and shook his head slightly. “These assassins are not from the same group as the last ones.”
“From what I can tell, even though I don’t know if they were sent by the same person, these assassins clearly belonged to three different schools.”
“Among them, the largest group said they were from Blood Thorn. What kind of organization is Blood Thorn?”
“What? Blood Thorn?! Are you sure it was them?”
Hearing this name, Song Yuru and Ling Xuanrong still looked confused, but Ye Zixi’s expression changed abruptly, and she quickly looked at Lin Mu and asked.
“I don’t know for sure if it was them, but those assassins said they were sent by Blood Thorn. However, they had a footwork technique that was quite interesting. I secretly learned it during the fight.”
“What footwork? Show me?”
Ye Zixi asked again urgently.
“Ah, A-Mu has just recovered from a serious illness. Don’t bother him like this.”
Song Yuru quickly stopped Lin Mu from getting up and gave Ye Zixi a reproachful look.
“It’s alright, Yuru. It’s no trouble. I’ll just walk a few steps.”
Lin Mu gave a reassuring smile, then stood up and walked to the living room. With a flash of his body, he was quickly moving around the room.
In the blink of an eye, his movements stirred up streams of air. A thin mist began to slowly spread throughout the living room. Before long, Lin Mu’s figure gradually became blurred.
The miraculous sight left Song Yuru and Ling Xuanrong staring in astonishment. They hadn’t expected the so-called footwork to be so exaggerated, actually creating mist out of thin air.
“Alright, you can stop. I’m sure it’s Blood Thorn.”
Ye Zixi stood up and spoke, her expression extremely grave as she looked at the thin mist in the living room.
“This is Blood Thorn’s exclusive Secret Art, the Mist Concealment Body Technique. Apart from their assassins, no one else has been able to learn this technique. I never thought you would secretly learn it during a fight.”
“Yeah, at the time I thought this body technique was quite practical, so I observed it carefully. After the fight, I actually managed to learn it. They even mistook me for a Blood Thorn assassin.”
Lin Mu stopped moving. Soon, the thin mist in the living room slowly dissipated.
