Chapter 39: The Cafeteria Incident
Chapter 39: The Cafeteria Incident
“How come it’s you? What did you come here for?”
Song Yuru, who was getting her meal, did not expect Xing Weilong to come over and frowned immediately.
“Yuru, why are you so cold to me? This pretty boy is just a bit handsome, what’s so good about him? In the past two years, how I treated you, don’t you know it well?”
“One should not judge people by looks only! My family is rich, although I’m a bit fat, it’s just temporary. As long as you agree to be my girlfriend, I promise I’ll lose weight!”
Xing Weilong looked resentful, clearly thinking Song Yuru disliked him because of his weight.
“Sorry, Xing Weilong, feelings can’t be forced. I don’t have any feelings for you. Even if you treated me well, it’s useless. Please don’t waste your time anymore.”
Song Yuru said calmly. It was true that this fatty treated her quite well, but one can’t be with someone just because they treat you well… When it comes to feelings, you need to have that spark.
“If that’s the case, then why were you nice to me before?”
Xing Weilong still wouldn’t give up.
“Huh? When was I nice to you?”
Song Yuru looked puzzled.
Xing Weilong quickly spilled out all the past incidents. “Have you forgotten all these things?”
After saying all that, sweat appeared on Xing Weilong’s forehead, showing how truly worked up he was.
“I think you might have misunderstood. That was just being polite. I treat everyone like that, it wasn’t special just for you. If it caused you to misunderstand, I can apologize, but please don’t bother me anymore.”
Song Yuru shook her head slightly, never expecting Xing Weilong to have such a misunderstanding.
“So, it turns out you like pretty boys too. I never thought you’d be this shallow. I was wrong about you! From now on, if I, Xing Weilong, ever chase after you again, I’ll be a turtle! And don’t think you’re all that!”
Hearing this, Xing Weilong couldn’t hold back anymore. He slammed the table and yelled loudly.
“No matter what you think, there’s no possibility between us. Please don’t bother me anymore. Besides, I don’t like pretty boys. Compared to him, you have nothing except more money.”
For some reason, when she heard Xing Weilong call Lin Mu a pretty boy, Song Yuru felt an inexplicable anger and sarcastically retorted.
“Just you wait! If I can’t have you, no one else will!”
Xing Weilong was really furious.
“Fatty, if you dare cause trouble, don’t blame us for being rude!”
Ye Zixi, sitting nearby, couldn’t take it anymore and stood up to speak coldly.
“You think I’m afraid of you? I only put up with you before to chase Song Yuru. Do you really think you’re something special?”
Xing Weilong laughed mockingly and glared at Lin Mu. “Kid, watch your step from now on. There are some people you can’t afford to mess with!”
Lin Mu hadn’t intended to pay attention to this fatty, but the guy just wouldn’t let it go. With so many students in the cafeteria watching, if he really hid behind the girls, he might as well not show up at school anymore.
“Xing Weilong, I didn’t quite catch what you said just now. Could you repeat it?” Lin Mu slowly stood up and looked at Xing Weilong with a smile.
Although he was smiling, Xing Weilong felt a chill under Lin Mu’s gaze. An intuition told him not to provoke this man, or the outcome could be terrible.
But with so many students watching, he couldn’t back down. Ignoring the cold feeling inside, Xing Weilong forced himself to speak. “You’re just a softie who lives off women, a pretty boy! Do you really think you’re something?”
“So you’re jealous of that. What a pity, it’s natural. I’m just that handsome, got a problem? Since you’re rich, go get plastic surgery! Make yourself even more handsome than me!”
Lin Mu burst out laughing and taunted mercilessly. “But I bet even the plastic surgeon would be stumped when they see you. With all that fat, where would they even start cutting?”
“You really are a professional at living off women. Your face is thicker than a city wall! Since you admit you’re a pretty boy who lives off his looks, I’ve got nothing more to say. You’re a disgrace to men! Even talking to you lowers my value!”
Xing Weilong gave a contemptuous smile. Even though he lost this round, at least he confirmed Lin Mu’s title as a pretty boy, which was a small victory for him.
“What exactly does ‘pretty boy’ mean?” Lin Mu turned and whispered to Song Yuru.
Song Yuru was stunned. She didn’t expect Lin Mu not to know the meaning of “pretty boy” and yet argue with someone about it. She couldn’t help but laugh a little as she explained quietly, “It means a handsome man who does nothing and lives off women.”
“What?!” Hearing this, Lin Mu was outraged. “I thought it was praising me for being fair-skinned! So it means a male concubine!”
But after the initial anger, he thought again and laughed. “Haha, but not everyone can be a pretty boy, right?”
“You’re actually willing to be a pretty boy?”
The three girls were speechless.
“Look, no work needed, women support you, and you’re taken care of every day. What a carefree life!”
Lin Mu looked dreamy.
Xing Weilong, standing nearby, was completely speechless. To have such thick skin really deserved the term “shameless”!
But he had to admit, Lin Mu had guts to say such things in front of so many classmates. Yet Lin Mu wasn’t wrong—not everyone could be a pretty boy.
Not only do you need outstanding looks, but most importantly, you’ve got to be good in bed. To describe it in four words: well-endowed and skilled.
Even though being a pretty boy sounded great, the boys in the cafeteria all looked down on Lin Mu for being so shameless. Although they might want to be pretty boys themselves, they just didn’t have what it takes.
But Lin Mu didn’t care about all that. He didn’t mind what others thought and found it quite fun. Once in a while, it felt pretty good to enjoy it.
Xing Weilong no longer wanted to talk to such a shameless person. He shook his head scornfully and left with his lackeys.
But as soon as he left, a few international students from South Korea arrived. The leader was Li Guangrui, a third-degree Taekwondo black belt.
“Yuru, your taste is really bad. I never thought I’d lose to such a shameless guy. It’s like a fresh flower stuck on cow dung. How does that saying go? A waste of natural resources?”
Li Guangrui shook his head regretfully and even showed off his knowledge of an idiom.
If she could tolerate Xing Weilong a little, Song Yuru had zero patience for Li Guangrui. “Li Guangrui, I like him, got a problem?”
As if to intentionally provoke Li Guangrui, Song Yuru even linked arms with Lin Mu and glared at him defiantly. Lin Mu puffed out his chest proudly.
Looking at the smug pair, Li Guangrui was at a loss for words. He wanted to say something but suddenly remembered his still-limping foot.
In their last encounter, he had suffered a lot. Although modern medicine fixed his tendons, it would take a while to fully recover. Even now, it hurt a bit when he walked.
“Hmph! You’ll regret it!” Li Guangrui gave Lin Mu a disdainful look, full of contempt. “I will definitely make Yuru change her mind.”
Watching the two groups leave one after another, Lin Mu finally relaxed. Now he could sit down and eat in peace.
“The power of a beauty is really something. It seems life won’t be peaceful from now on.” Pretending to sigh pitifully, Lin Mu took a bite of rice.
“Are you making fun of me?” Song Yuru was speechless.
“Not at all, I’m praising you. Being so likable is really great!” Lin Mu winked.
“So, do you like girls like me?” Song Yuru asked with interest.
“Well, how should I put it.”
Lin Mu put down his chopsticks and looked carefully at Song Yuru, watching until her face flushed red before nodding with satisfaction. “I do like your type… cheerful, generous, and caring.”
“You’re a really good girl!”
Finally, Lin Mu gave a concluding remark.
Song Yuru seemed a bit shy and quickly pushed her plate forward. “Let’s all hurry up and eat!”
Lunch ended happily amidst their teasing and laughter.
In the blink of an eye, the sun was tilting west. Xing Weilong was already waiting at the school gate.
Soon, several young men with similar buzz cuts, led by a young man, drove up to the school gate. When they saw Xing Weilong, except for the leader, the others immediately bowed and greeted, “Brother Long!”
“Hmm.” Xing Weilong nodded in acknowledgment, then waved to the young man in front. “Brother Feng, over here.”
The two walked aside. The leading young man chuckled lightly. “What, calling me here in such a hurry? Don’t tell me it’s for another fight?”
“Of course not, do I seem that uncultured?” Xing Weilong laughed.
“Oh? So there’s a girl to pick up?” Brother Feng’s eyes lit up.
“Stop, stop, watch your image. We’re at the school gate! Last time you said schoolgirls have no flavor!” Xing Weilong laughed and scolded.
“They really don’t have much flavor, too green. But after having too many mature ones, sometimes you want a change.” Brother Feng laughed heartily.
“Alright, enough nonsense. Let’s get to business. I called you here to track a guy.” Xing Weilong straightened his expression.
“Seriously? You called me just for this?” Brother Feng frowned immediately, but when he saw Xing Weilong waving a check in front of him, he quickly changed his tune. “Fine! Brother Long, who do you want tracked?”
“I’ll tell you the details later. As expected, Brother Feng is still the same—money talks!”
“Hey! You know how it is. The old man at home keeps a tight grip. I’m not as free as you, throwing checks around without limits! I’ve been a bit short on cash lately, so you’re just in time to help!”
“Stop pretending to be poor. You, the prestigious Brother Feng of the Wolf Gang, acting like this in front of me? Have you no shame?” Xing Weilong was completely speechless. If he hadn’t been desperate for the right person, he wouldn’t have asked Brother Feng for help.
