Chapter 32: The Fierce Young Policewoman
Chapter 32: The Fierce Young Policewoman
Bending his body and stepping forward, Li Guangrui suddenly lifted his leg high and slammed it down from the air. The force actually created a whistling sound, showing that this kick was even more powerful than the previous ones.
However, this time Lin Mu did not dodge. A trace of mockery flashed in his eyes as he slightly turned his body and quickly reached out with both hands to grab Li Guangrui’s leg.
Li Guangrui smirked coldly, retracting his leg in mid-air. He then suddenly shifted his weight to his other leg, instantly switching positions, and delivered a full-force Whip Kick toward Lin Mu’s side.
At such close range and with such a sudden change in move, Li Guangrui believed that knocking Lin Mu down was almost certain. Based on Lin Mu’s previous level, there was no way he could avoid this strike!
But what happened next made Li Guangrui’s heart sink, and he immediately realized he had made a huge mistake.
Almost at the same moment Li Guangrui changed his kick, Lin Mu’s hand suddenly moved in a way that defied normal bone structure. It reached out from behind and firmly grabbed Li Guangrui’s foot, while his other hand pinched the tendon at the ankle.
Just as Li Guangrui thought about using his other leg to break free, Lin Mu acted first. With just a light pinch and without making a sound, Lin Mu severed that tendon without any noticeable effort.
Since he intended to teach the other a lesson, Lin Mu did not mind making that lesson more memorable.
The exchange happened so quickly that, combined with Song Yuru’s obstructed view, she saw nothing except Li Guangrui kicking Lin Mu, and then Li Guangrui himself falling to the ground, howling in pain.
Lin Mu clapped his hands, looked at Li Guangrui who was tightly clutching his ankle, and said calmly, “If your Kung Fu isn’t good enough, don’t force yourself to perform these difficult moves. Otherwise, you’ll only end up hurting yourself. Remember that next time!”
After saying this, Lin Mu and Song Yuru ignored the person writhing on the ground, picked up the cake and groceries, and headed home chatting and laughing.
“I didn’t expect you to become so strong after just a few months of training!” Song Yuru looked at Lin Mu with admiration.
“Not at all, I just practice casually. Mainly to improve my fitness. It seems quite useful now, at least I’ve become more resilient than before,” Lin Mu laughed.
“I feel like ever since you came back from the hospital, you’ve changed completely. You’re not the same as before. Now you seem really good at everything,” Song Yuru smiled slightly.
Though she said it unintentionally, Lin Mu had to admit that a woman’s intuition could be quite scary.
“But the girl I live with is really skilled in Martial Arts!” Mentioning this, Song Yuru suddenly added.
“Is it that Zixi that Li Guangrui mentioned earlier?” Lin Mu asked, tilting his head.
“Yeah, that’s her. Zixi said she’s been training in Martial Arts with her master since she was little, and she even uses weapons!” Song Yuru suddenly became animated. “Last time I saw her practicing, she could wield her sword so fast that not even a drop of water could get through!”
“Not even a drop of water could get through?” This time Lin Mu was genuinely surprised. If she had reached that level, then Zixi must have at least entered the Agility Realm.
She might even be at the peak of the Agility Realm, just on the verge of touching the Subtlety Realm!
He hadn’t expected someone so powerful to be living near Song Yuru. In this modern age of advanced technology, Lin Mu knew very well how much impact a person comparable to the Subtlety Realm could have.
“Wow! That’s really impressive. With such powerful Martial Arts, what does she usually do?” Lin Mu pretended to be very surprised.
“I don’t know about that. Zixi usually leaves early and comes back late. She’s never mentioned what she actually does, always acting very mysterious,” Song Yuru shook her head.
Lin Mu was also puzzled, but since he wasn’t close to her, he didn’t dwell on it. After seeing Song Yuru to her door, he politely declined her repeated invitations and headed home alone.
After leaving Huacheng Mingyuan, Lin Mu had just reached the roadside and was about to cross the street when he heard someone shouting loudly not far behind him: “Stop the thief! Someone stole something!”
Turning around curiously, Lin Mu saw a commotion in the crowd nearby. Then a man quickly broke through the crowd, holding something in his hand, and ran rapidly in his direction.
Shaking his head helplessly, Lin Mu moved aside because the thief was clearly headed toward the crosswalk, trying to make a quick escape.
Passersby watched the swiftly fleeing thief, but no one tried to stop him. Lin Mu naturally didn’t want to get involved either. Although he wasn’t afraid of the thief, he adopted a “mind your own business” attitude and moved away from the crosswalk.
The middle-aged woman chasing after him had even lost her shoes, but the thief was getting farther away. She had no chance of catching up and could only watch helplessly as the thief dashed across the street.
Just then, a BMW near the crosswalk screeched to a halt, and a young woman got out of the car.
“Stop! Police!”
The woman slammed the car door shut and shouted at the thief.
Startled, the thief misstepped, tripped over his own feet, and fell hard onto the sidewalk, scraping his arm until it bled.
The young woman rushed forward, nimbly leaped over the railing by the sidewalk, and ran to the thief. She reached behind her back and pulled out a pair of Handcuffs, ready to arrest him.
Unexpectedly, the thief who had fallen suddenly sprang up, reached into his clothes, and pulled out a small knife, stabbing fiercely toward the young woman.
Bystanders gasped in shock, but just as the young woman was about to be stabbed, they were relieved to see her nimbly dodge out of the way, avoiding the attack.
Wang Xiqing broke out in a cold sweat. She had thought it was just an ordinary thief, never expecting him to carry a weapon. Caught off guard, she had almost fallen into his trap.
Having been a police officer for several years, if she were defeated by a petty thief, she would be too ashamed to face her colleagues.
Today wasn’t even her shift, but driven by police instinct, she stepped out of her car as soon as she witnessed a crime, not bothering with her own unfinished matters.
“Stop right now! Stealing is a minor offense, but assaulting a police officer with a weapon is a serious crime! Do you want to spend ten or twenty years in prison?!”
Wang Xiqing assumed a standard fighting stance, watching the thief warily.
“Hmph! As long as I’m not caught, what does it matter? If you don’t arrest me, nothing will happen!”
The skin on the thief’s arm had been scraped off by the hard cement, and a large part of his face was bruised, blood slowly seeping out. The pain made him blink repeatedly.
“Don’t even try to struggle—you won’t get away! Patrol officers will be here soon. With all those scrapes, if you don’t disinfect them promptly, they could get infected. Think about it!”
Wang Xiqing continued, “If you come with me to the station, we can take you to the hospital first to clean and bandage your wounds. Stealing isn’t a major crime—don’t make it worse for yourself!”
“Dream on! I’m never going back with you! Give it up!”
The thief waved his knife fiercely and cautiously stepped back, never taking his eyes off the woman in front of him.
Seeing that the thief showed no intention of surrendering, Wang Xiqing decided not to wait any longer. Slipping off her high heels with a twist of her feet, she charged forward toward the thief.
Panicking, the thief hadn’t expected the woman to be so determined to arrest him. Fueled by resentment, he brandished the knife and stabbed directly at her.
However, Wang Xiqing had been a police officer for several years and had undergone plenty of combat training. Though she was a woman, her skills were far better than an average person’s.
Dodging nimbly, she avoided the thief’s direct stab. Then she twisted his arm, gripping exactly where the wound was, causing the thief to cry out in pain.
Twisting the thief’s arm behind his back, Wang Xiqing kicked the back of his knee, forcing him to kneel on one leg.
Only then did Wang Xiqing calmly pull out the Handcuffs again. Just as she was about to cuff him, several young men suddenly rushed from behind and started attacking her without a word.
Though passersby admired the young policewoman’s bravery, no one dared to step in and help. When they saw the thief had accomplices, they quickly moved aside even faster.
Each of their faces showed fear of getting caught in the crossfire.
As Wang Xiqing was about to handcuff the thief, she was caught off guard by someone behind her. A kick landed on her back, sending her flying forward.
The moment she hit the ground, Wang Xiqing curled into a roll to soften the impact, then sprang up agilely, unharmed.
The young men helped the thief up, glared fiercely at Wang Xiqing, and prepared to leave with him.
“Stop! You have some nerve! How dare you assault a police officer in public?!”
Wang Xiqing shouted again, reassuming her fighting stance.
“Hey, little lady, are you out of your mind? You’re not in uniform, so you’re probably off duty today, right? Don’t go looking for trouble! Sometimes, when you should look the other way, just pretend you didn’t see anything!”
One of the young men turned to look at Wang Xiqing, sneered, and then signaled his companions to leave.
Wang Xiqing naturally couldn’t let them escape. If this were investigated later, she would surely face disciplinary action.
