Chapter 31: Taekwondo Expert
Chapter 31: Taekwondo Expert
“What did you mean?”
Blocked from moving forward, Song Yuru immediately darkened her expression and stared straight at Li Guangrui.
“Yuru, after I have pursued you for so long, could you at least give me some face?” Li Guangrui also looked very displeased. Song Yuru had rejected him again and again, and finally, he began to feel that he was losing face too.
Shifting his gaze, Li Guangrui then looked at Lin Mu who was standing nearby and sneered coldly, “What’s so good about a pretty boy like him? How could he possibly compare to me?”
Lin Mu rolled his eyes at once. He was just trying to do a good deed, yet he ended up being an innocent victim caught in the crossfire. He felt completely exasperated, and a series of trendy phrases he learned from his classmates flashed through his mind.
“Compared to Lin Mu, you are far worse! Get out of my sight! I actually had a good impression of you before, but now thinking about it, it’s really disgusting!”
“It seems the rumors in the academy before were all true; you are a complete and utter playboy. If you want to play around, go back to your Korea to do it; don’t embarrass yourself here in Huaxia.”
Completely enraged, Song Yuru immediately started shouting angrily. A stream of words poured out, making Li Guangrui’s face turn pale then purple.
“Song Yuru, it’s because I like you that I’ve been so tolerant. Don’t think you’re so great; frankly, you’re just a cheap woman!”
“Don’t think I don’t know what you were like before; who in the school back then didn’t know about your dirty little affairs? For someone like me to fancy you is your fortune, you shameless slut!”
Having lost all face, Li Guangrui also started shouting insults. He turned his head and glared at Lin Mu, saying, “Hey, pretty boy, don’t think she really likes you; she’s just playing with you. Once she’s tired of you, she’ll kick you aside, you fool!”
“Shut up! How dare you insult me?” Song Yuru yelled angrily.
“Oh, oh, getting nervous now? Did I hit a sore spot? Since you’ll just dump him after playing around, why are you so tense?” Li Guangrui mocked with a laugh.
He knew that after saying these things, he would never have a chance to woo Song Yuru again. So he decided to throw caution to the wind—after all, there were beautiful girls everywhere; he wouldn’t miss this one.
Lin Mu still wore a faint smile. To him, this was just an insignificant little matter, but he felt quite irritated by this Li Guangrui.
A man who only knew how to argue with a woman wasn’t much of a man, at best a useless idiot.
“Li Guangrui, I’m warning you seriously now: you’d better leave immediately, or don’t blame me for being impolite.” Song Yuru was so angry she practically felt like killing someone.
“Hahaha! Just you? We’ve sparred many times before—when did you not lose to me? But your legs are really smooth—do you want me to touch them again today?” Li Guangrui laughed evilly, looking up at the sky.
“Go to hell!” Song Yuru couldn’t hold back any longer. She cursed angrily and lifted her leg to kick at Li Guangrui.
Li Guangrui shifted his foot slightly, his body moving nimbly to the side, effortlessly dodging her.
Lin Mu, watching from the side, was slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected that Song Yuru, who usually acted like an elder sister, was actually trained in martial arts!
From the movements of their exchange, it was clear that both had some training; their skills were much better than an ordinary person’s.
“Come on, again, don’t stop! Your speed still hasn’t improved; let me give you more pointers.” Li Guangrui dodged easily while chuckling.
Seeing that their young master had already started fighting, his lackeys also surrounded Lin Mu. They glanced at each other, then lifted their legs one after another to kick at Lin Mu.
Lin Mu watched them expressionlessly and didn’t dodge. Just as the lackeys reached him, his body flashed—he moved swiftly, spinning in a circle on the spot.
Using the move “Night Battle in All Directions,” he turned his foot into a blade, and afterimages simultaneously struck the leg bones of several men.
The lackeys paused briefly in surprise, and then a cracking sound came from their legs simultaneously—the sound of breaking bones instantly rang out repeatedly.
“Ahhh! Ahhh!”
Amidst the screams, the lackeys’ legs gave way, and they immediately fell to the ground, rolling back and forth in extreme pain.
Lin Mu, still holding the cake, stood behind them as if nothing had happened.
“Are you alright?”
Song Yuru quickly ran over and looked at Lin Mu with concern.
“I’m fine. These guys tried to gang up on me. I was just about to dodge when I saw them all fall down. Maybe an expert saved me?” Lin Mu shrugged his shoulders, looking innocent.
“Where’s the expert? I didn’t notice one.” Song Yuru looked around.
“Aren’t experts supposed to come and go without a trace? If ordinary people like us could see them, would they still be experts?” Lin Mu retorted.
“As long as you’re okay, that’s what matters. Those guys got off easy.” Song Yuru giggled.
Lin Mu smiled and nodded, but his eyes imperceptibly shot a glare at the lackeys on the ground. One of them was about to speak, but Lin Mu secretly stepped on his hand, making him let out another painful howl.
Song Yuru didn’t notice, and neither did Li Guangrui.
“Let’s go. My mood is completely ruined by these guys; I don’t even feel like celebrating my birthday anymore!” Song Yuru looked utterly frustrated.
Lin Mu nodded. The two turned and headed in another direction, not wanting to see Li Guangrui and his gang anymore.
Although the two wanted to let the matter rest and just leave it at that, the other side wasn’t necessarily willing to let them go. If someone insisted on picking a fight, there was nothing they could do about it.
“Hmph! You injured so many of my men, and now you think you can just leave? It’s not that easy!” Li Guangrui stared darkly at the two.
“We didn’t injure them. If you have the ability, go find that expert!” Song Yuru shot back sarcastically. “Only bullying us—what kind of skill is that?”
“Hmph! What expert? Only good at hiding!” Li Guangrui retorted fiercely, then pointed at Lin Mu and said, “You, come out here! Did that expert just save you? Let’s see if he’ll come to rescue you again now!”
A cold light flashed in Lin Mu’s eyes. This Li Guangrui was really annoying. If he didn’t teach him a lesson, he would really think he was something!
But Song Yuru stretched out her arm and stopped Lin Mu, whispering, “Don’t go. He practices Taekwondo, has competed in many matches, and already has a third-degree black belt. You’re no match for him.”
“Coward! Still need a woman to protect you?” Li Guangrui laughed mockingly again and curled his finger at Lin Mu.
Faced with Li Guangrui’s provocation, Lin Mu smiled instead of getting angry. “Teacher Song, do you think I would have any dignity left if I just walked away now? Since he wants to fight, I don’t mind playing along.”
“But… he’s trained!”
Song Yuru didn’t expect Lin Mu to be so calm at this moment. Any ordinary man would have roared and rushed forward long ago.
But Lin Mu didn’t do that; instead, he seemed unusually composed. Could it be that he was actually an expert too?
A ridiculous thought suddenly crossed Song Yuru’s mind. Anyway, she was there to back him up. Even though she wasn’t as strong as Li Guangrui, he wouldn’t be able to bully her freely either.
“You’re Li Guangrui, right? I heard you practice Taekwondo. Come on, let me see what you’ve got.”
Putting down the cake and groceries in his hands, Lin Mu stepped forward and similarly stretched out his hand, curling his finger.
“You’ve got guts after all!”
Li Guangrui felt a secret delight. His opponent couldn’t resist the verbal taunts after all. As a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, dealing with a pretty boy like this should be a piece of cake.
“Enough talk. Let me see if your skills are as sharp as your mouth?” After hanging out with his classmates for a few months, Lin Mu’s own tongue had grown increasingly venomous.
“Fine! Don’t beg for mercy on your knees later!”
Li Guangrui’s expression darkened. He rushed forward two steps and swiftly executed a whip kick, generating a gust of wind aimed straight at Lin Mu’s head.
“Be careful!”
Song Yuru, watching from the side, was shocked. That damned Li Guangrui clearly hadn’t used his full strength when fighting her earlier. His speed now was nearly twice as fast, and his power had increased a lot too!
It seemed he was determined to beat Lin Mu half to death!
A glint flashed in Lin Mu’s eyes. This Li Guangrui did have some real skill—not entirely an idiot. Based on the speed and power of this kick alone, he was definitely more capable than those lackeys from before.
Although with just this level of skill, trying to take on Lin Mu was like a fool’s fantasy, Song Yuru was watching from the side. Lin Mu couldn’t appear too overpowered. He lightly retreated a step, dodging Li Guangrui’s first kick.
Li Guangrui grinned slyly, then took a step forward with a chain kick, immediately cutting off Lin Mu’s path of retreat. At the same time, his right leg followed up with a powerful front kick.
There was a lamppost nearby. Lin Mu, too lazy to dodge further, raised his arm to block, taking Li Guangrui’s kick head-on.
“Oh? You can actually block my chain kicks? Interesting!”
Li Guangrui gave Lin Mu a surprised look, then followed with a flurry of kicks from both feet, combining speed and power well. In an instant, he had delivered over a dozen kicks.
This showed that he had indeed put in serious effort on his leg techniques. He might even have some talent for martial arts—it’s just that his character was truly awful.
After several exchanges, Lin Mu appeared to be at a disadvantage, constantly defending passively. But Li Guangrui slowly began to sense something wrong. He knew perfectly well just how strong his own power was.
During regular training, he could snap a wooden post as thick as a bowl with a single whip kick!
But Lin Mu had already blocked about ten of his attacks, left and right—why did he seem completely unaffected?
“Are you okay, Lin Mu?”
Song Yuru walked over to Lin Mu and asked.
“I’m fine. I didn’t expect this guy to be quite impressive.”
Lin Mu shook his head.
“You’re pretty good yourself. I never realized you had some training too. I didn’t notice before—when did you start working out?” Song Yuru was also a bit curious; she had a clear memory of Lin Mu’s previous image.
“It was after I came back from the hospital. My body was a bit weak, so I started exercising.” Lin Mu made up an excuse casually.
Song Yuru nodded as if she understood. Over on the other side, Li Guangrui was already growing impatient. “Kid, it’s not over yet! Let’s go again! I’ll show you what I’m really capable of!”
Hearing what Lin Mu said earlier, Li Guangrui also started to take things more seriously. After all, his opponent had trained too and didn’t seem simple. But judging by his skill level, he probably still wasn’t a match for him.
A glint flashed in Li Guangrui’s eyes, and he started provoking again, “Kid, if you’ve got what it takes, try blocking my next attack!”
