Chapter 19: Striking First Doesn’t Always Mean Winning

Wang Junli had a fierce look on his face. His subordinates didn’t dare say much. They quickly answered “Yes!” and then rushed out one after the other.

“That brat! Just because he’s from the Lin Family, does he think no one dares touch him? Anyone who messes with the Wang Family won’t die, but they’ll sure suffer!”

Wang Junli plopped down on the sofa. He downed the glass of foreign liquor in one gulp.

Many officials in Zhenhai District had unclear connections with the Wang Family. The Wang Family had ties with both legal and illegal circles. Naturally, their business went smoothly. They had made so much money their hands were sore.

Moreover, Wang Junli was quite self-aware. The people he gathered around him followed a strategy of avoiding major crimes but committing minor ones constantly. So far, they hadn’t caused any big trouble. Naturally, the higher-ups couldn’t pin anything on them.

Zhongxing Security was a security company registered by the Wang Family. It provided security services to other groups and enterprises. The people working there were either dishonorably discharged soldiers or troublemakers who had served time in prison. Not a single one of them was a good person.

On the surface, it was a legitimately registered company. But secretly, it was a gang of thugs. Who in Zhenhai District hadn’t heard of Zhongxing Security’s fearsome reputation?

Just as Wang Junli’s group of subordinates drove out angrily, ready to capture the ungrateful Lin Mu, Lin Mu was planning to go out for a stroll.

He had just reached the school gate when two black vans screeched to a halt in front of him. Over a dozen tattooed young men got out of the vehicles.

“Our boss wants to see you.” A young man with dyed yellow hair and sunglasses spoke without even looking at Lin Mu, his nostrils flared.

“Your boss? Do I know him?” Lin Mu looked puzzled at these obviously dressed thugs.

“You’ll know when you get there. For now, you’d better come with us quietly to avoid trouble. We don’t want to waste effort.”

A few men walked up to Lin Mu, grabbed his arms, and pulled him toward the van.

Looking at their build, they were just ordinary punks. Lin Mu didn’t plan to lower himself to their level. Besides, this was the school gate; he didn’t want to cause a scene.

Once everyone was in the van, it took less than half an hour to arrive at the front yard of a villa.

As soon as he got out of the car, Lin Mu quickly scanned the villa’s layout secretly.

After studying for some time, Lin Mu had learned a lot of necessary knowledge. He knew how to protect himself better in this technologically advanced society.

For example, inside this villa, there were infrared cameras in many places like the corners. In the past, Lin Mu wouldn’t have noticed them. But now he knew he had to avoid them, or else evidence could be left behind.

Using the thugs around him as cover, Lin Mu cleverly stayed in the cameras’ blind spots. None of the cameras captured his face along the way.

“Alright, all of you can leave now. Send Secretary Tian over.”

Wang Junli waved for the others to leave as well. He comfortably reclined on the sofa, lit a thick cigar, and leisurely blew out a cloud of thick white smoke.

Thinking about Secretary Tian coming over soon, Wang Junli wore a lecherous grin.

But before he could take a second puff, the door opened. The group of thugs brought Lin Mu inside.

Wang Junli looked Lin Mu up and down. He flicked the ash from his cigar and sneered coldly. “Kid, do you know what trouble you’ve caused?”

“Hah!” Lin Mu suddenly laughed. “I wondered who it was. So it’s Boss Wang. What’s this? The son got beaten, so the father has to step in himself?”

“You’ve got nerve!” A cold glint flashed in Wang Junli’s eyes as he clapped. “Looks like the Lin Family has produced quite a character!”

“I’m your elder, after all. I shouldn’t make things too hard for a junior like you. Since you dislocated my son’s arm, you’ll cut the tendons in both your hands. Then you can leave on your own.”

Lin Mu chuckled scornfully. This Wang Junli acted like some righteous person. Wang Dong only had his arm joint dislocated, yet he wanted Lin Mu to sever his own hand tendons.

For an ordinary person, severed hand tendons meant lifelong disability.

“What if I refuse?” Lin Mu’s face darkened.

“Brat, you’re refusing a favor?”

A lackey behind him immediately cursed and grabbed Lin Mu’s shoulder.

Without turning his head, Lin Mu drove his elbow into the lackey’s face. Then he grabbed the man’s hair, threw him over his shoulder, and slammed him onto the coffee table in front of Wang Junli.

The fine rosewood coffee table shattered into pieces, reduced to splinters.

The remaining men rushed in front of Wang Junli, gathering around him and staring warily at Lin Mu’s coldly smiling face.

“Good! Good! Good! Truly, heroes emerge from the young!” Wang Junli laughed in fury, his voice icy.

His subordinates, familiar with their boss’s temper, saw his expression and immediately charged at Lin Mu together, intending to capture and teach him a lesson.

A yellow-haired guy at the front tried to claim the credit alone. But Lin Mu swung a punch into his face, sending him flying to the side where he passed out.

Seeing how tough Lin Mu was, the other lackeys didn’t dare advance further. They all retreated back.

Seeing this, Wang Junli realized Lin Mu was no ordinary person. He dropped his pretenses and snorted coldly.

“Take him down!”
