Chapter 176: The BMW Man
Chapter 176: The BMW Man
In the adjacent reception room, Fu Feng stood with his hands behind his back in front of the bright floor-to-ceiling window, watching the heavy traffic below the hotel. He turned his head at the same moment Yao Xianxian entered.
“Hello, Miss Yao. I am from the police. You can call me Officer Fu.”
Fu Feng smiled slightly. For a moment, he too was stunned by Yao Xianxian’s beauty. No wonder so many young people had blocked the road during the filming this morning.
“Hello, Officer Fu. For caution’s sake, we need to see your identification.”
Before Yao Xianxian could speak, Sister Hong stepped forward with a smile. This was her duty as an agent.
“No problem, I understand.”
Fu Feng nodded with a smile and took out the small blue-black booklet, handing it over.
“Officer Fu’s identification is quite special. It seems a bit different from the normal kind!”
Sister Hong took the identification, looked it over, and said with a laugh.
“It is indeed different. I work in a rather special department. We don’t handle many cases normally, but the cases that come to our department are ones that ordinary police can’t solve.”
Fu Feng laughed, but the meaning behind his words made Sister Hong frown.
“May I ask what case brings Officer Fu here?”
Sister Hong sat down, pulling Yao Xianxian with her, and looked at Fu Feng as she asked.
“First, I’d like to ask Miss Yao a question. Did you go to a five-star hotel with a female friend the night before last?”
Fu Feng also sat down and looked at Yao Xianxian as he asked.
“I’m sorry, Officer Fu. This involves Miss Yao’s personal privacy. We don’t have to answer.”
Sister Hong replied without hesitation.
“I think you might not understand yet. This isn’t an interview by entertainment reporters; this is a police inquiry. We have the right to know the truth about anything, including your personal privacy.”
Fu Feng smiled politely, but his voice carried a hint of coldness.
Yao Xianxian tugged at Sister Hong, who was about to say something more, and smiled at Fu Feng. “It’s alright, it’s not a big deal. I did go to a hotel with a female friend. Is there a problem?”
“Of course. I’d like to ask, Miss Yao, how did you leave that hotel later?”
Fu Feng continued questioning.
Hearing this question, Yao Xianxian’s expression didn’t change, but her heart skipped a beat. She knew why this police officer had come—it must be related to that night’s events, and it seemed Lin Mu was involved too.
“I’m sorry, Officer Fu, I’m not sure about that. I met an old classmate I hadn’t seen in a long time and had a bit too much to drink. Later, I don’t know how I got back.”
Yao Xianxian shook her head and smiled slightly, her eyes very clear, not looking like she was lying at all.
Sister Hong, sitting nearby, also remained calm because she knew that Lin Mu had brought Yao Xianxian back that night. Since the police officer was asking this way, there must be something unusual about the situation. She just listened quietly without showing any reaction.
“I believe that, because Miss Yao did seem to have lost consciousness at the time.”
Fu Feng opened his laptop and played a video. The footage showed a young man carrying Yao Xianxian as he left the hotel. He paused the video, and the frame froze on the young man’s profile.
“Does Miss Yao know this man?”
Pointing at the young man in the video, Fu Feng stared calmly at Yao Xianxian, carefully observing every slight change in her expression.
“I don’t know him.”
Yao Xianxian leaned over to look at the screen, then shook her head decisively.
“You don’t know him? Then why was he in the hotel room, and why did he take Miss Yao away by force?”
Fu Feng raised an eyebrow slightly and asked strangely.
“By force? I don’t understand what you mean, Officer Fu?”
Yao Xianxian looked puzzled.
“Miss Yao, please look at this surveillance footage.”
Fu Feng played another video. The footage showed the man rushing down the corridor, then knocking a bodyguard flying, before entering the room where the incident occurred.
“I don’t know any of this. I was unconscious at the time. I don’t know why he did that or why he took me away.”
Yao Xianxian glanced at the surveillance footage again and still shook her head.
Actually, from the moment she saw the man, she knew it was Lin Mu. Although the face didn’t look like Lin Mu’s, she would never mistake his figure. Moreover, it was indeed Lin Mu who had saved her that day.
“That is very strange. A man you don’t know went there and took you away. I wonder if Miss Yao suffered any harm?”
Fu Feng closed the laptop.
“I wasn’t harmed. I checked when I woke up the next day.”
Yao Xianxian still shook her head.
“That night, there was another man in that room—the boss of the bodyguards outside the door. After that night, he lost his basic functions as a man.”
Fu Feng said calmly, “According to his statement, a young assailant attacked him that night. Examination showed that his kidney meridians were struck, and the possibility of recovery is very slim.”
“I’m not very clear about that either. In my memory, I only remember going in with my friend and having some drinks. My next memory is waking up in my own room at the Hilton Hotel.”
Yao Xianxian replied, her expression showing no abnormality.
“From the surveillance footage, we found that the female friend who entered with you left alone when that boss arrived. Do you know where she went, Miss Yao?”
Fu Feng posed another question.
“I’m sorry, Shen Xue and I are just old classmates who hadn’t seen each other for years. We don’t usually keep in touch, so I don’t know where she went.”
Yao Xianxian really didn’t know this; it wasn’t an act.
“It’s alright. We will find her.”
Fu Feng smiled slightly. Just as he was about to continue, the reception room door opened, and a young man walked in. It was Lin Mu, who had been eating in the other hall. Worried about Yao Xianxian, he came to see what was happening.
The moment he saw Lin Mu, Fu Feng’s eyes narrowed. Years of criminal investigation experience made him compare Lin Mu’s figure with the man in the surveillance video, and he found they matched very well.
His sharp sixth sense immediately marked Lin Mu as an important suspect. However, after carefully sensing Lin Mu’s aura, he found that Lin Mu didn’t seem like a powerful martial artist; he seemed more like an ordinary person.
“Xianxian, what’s going on? Why are the police here during our filming? Is there some procedure we didn’t complete? Or is it because we blocked traffic this morning?”
Lin Mu sat down beside Yao Xianxian and smiled, glancing at the three of them.
“It’s nothing major. Officer Fu just came to ask about what I did the night before last. We just need to cooperate with the investigation.”
Yao Xianxian smiled and glanced at Lin Mu.
“Right, what did you do that night? Why were you back so late? I wanted to practice the script with you, but I waited for a long time and eventually had to sleep first.”
Lin Mu’s thoughts raced, and he immediately understood the police officer’s purpose. He pretended to be puzzled and asked.
“Nothing much. I just went out for drinks with a friend. Later, for some reason, a stranger brought me back. I woke up the next day.”
Yao Xianxian summarized the events lightly.
Fu Feng watched the two talk, feeling like they were performing a comedy duo. However, he had no intention of interrupting and just quietly observed them.
“That was really dangerous. Don’t go running around alone in the future. What if something happens?”
Lin Mu said worriedly.
“May I ask who this is?”
Seeing that the two seemed to be going on endlessly, Fu Feng finally couldn’t help but interrupt.
“Oh, I forgot to introduce you, Officer Fu. This is the male lead of this film, Lin Mu.”
Yao Xianxian smiled slightly.
“Hello, Officer Fu.”
Lin Mu nodded in acknowledgement.
“Mr. Lin, may I ask where you were the night before last?”
Fu Feng narrowed his eyes slightly and looked at Lin Mu as he asked.
“I went out shopping. It’s my first time in Jingdu. If I don’t take a good look around, we’ll have to go back to Donghai once we finish filming here. That would be such a pity!”
Lin Mu said with a laugh.
“May I ask where Mr. Lin went?”
“I’m not very familiar with that area either, but I saw a very tall building. It seemed to be a building established by a company called Tenglong Group.”
Frowning as he recalled, Lin Mu then spoke.
“Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Lin. If needed later, I will contact you again.”
Fu Feng stood up, shook hands with Lin Mu and the other two in turn, then packed up his laptop and left.
“Sister Hong, why don’t you go eat a bit later? We have a busy afternoon ahead, and you can’t go hungry.”
Yao Xianxian smiled slightly at Sister Hong.
“Alright then, I’ll eat a bit later. I really didn’t eat enough just now!”
Sister Hong said with a laugh, “You two should come eat a bit more later too. Filming is so tiring; we can’t treat our stomachs poorly.”
After saying that, she left alone. Although she was Yao Xianxian’s agent, she wasn’t as strict with the artist as other agents because she knew Yao Xianxian’s background was quite unusual.
Since Yao Xianxian said so, she must have something to discuss privately. As a savvy agent, how could she not pick up on such cues? So she tactfully left immediately.
After both had left, a look of surprise flashed across Lin Mu’s face. “That Officer Fu who came just now was the man driving the BMW this morning.”
“What?”
Yao Xianxian didn’t catch on right away.
“During the filming this morning, two people fell from a building. That Officer Fu was the BMW man who caught them.”
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes slightly and said it again.
