Chapter 136: Total Collapse
Chapter 136: Total Collapse
Unlike the cultivators of Huaxia, once Superpower Users exhausted their energy, they could only rely on natural recovery, which was relatively slow. There were no cultivation methods that could quickly restore their energy.
If one completely squandered their energy, the recovery speed would be significantly delayed. Therefore, no Superpower User would ever completely drain their own energy, as it meant they would become an ordinary person for a very long time.
For Superpower Users, using basic-level Superpowers was almost unlimited. Due to innate talent, the energy consumption for such powers was minimal.
For example, a fire-controlling Superpower User could maintain a tiny flame on their fingertip to light a cigarette almost indefinitely.
However, using large-scale techniques or more advanced Superpowers dramatically increased energy consumption. Excessive use could deplete their internal energy completely.
Learning to precisely control energy expenditure was an essential skill for any Superpower User. This wasn’t about innate talent; it only came through diligent effort and constant practice to improve control.
This clearly showed just how astonishing Lawrence’s control truly was!
He diffused his Dark Energy into a mist that constantly enveloped him. It remained stable regardless of his movements while simultaneously unleashing the devouring property of Dark Energy.
Such precise control indeed deserved Lawrence’s title, King of Slaughter.
Yet, despite maximizing his use of Dark Energy, he couldn’t swiftly defeat Jiang Chu, even though Jiang Chu’s Zhenqi consumption far exceeded Lawrence’s in this prolonged exchange.
Jiang Chu’s combat power didn’t solely rely on Zhenqi; physical strength played a significant part. Even without Zhenqi, he could fight for a considerable time.
This was something Lawrence hadn’t anticipated.
While the fierce battle raged below, Lin Mu had silently arrived on the roof of the villa. He sat alone, quietly watching the fighting crowd.
As time passed, both the Dragon Protection Corps and the Supernatural Ability Group began suffering casualties. However, relative to the enemy, the Dragon Protection Corps held a slight edge.
But this advantage was quickly shattered. It was precisely Ding Han and Jiang Chu who faced the crisis.
Simultaneously, as if coordinated, Kroeyer and Lawrence activated their power, instantly turning the tide of the entire battle.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t the stronger Lawrence who gained the upper hand first, but Kroeyer fighting at the main entrance.
He threw his head back and roared. His height suddenly swelled from about two meters to a terrifying nearly two and a half meters. His muscles bulged all over, thick blood vessels pulsed slowly beneath his silvery-gray skin, looking extremely strange.
A massive surge of power emanated from Ding Han. Seeing the enemy clearly amplify their strength, he also activated a Secret Technique at that very moment, pushing his own power to the absolute limit.
The two collided with a thunderous crash. When their fists met, a terrifying shockwave instantly blasted outwards, actually flinging two combatants engaged nearby away.
After just one punch, Ding Han’s face flushed crimson. His throat worked, and he forcefully swallowed down blood threatening to spew forth.
With the battle at its peak, and being one of the two top Experts from the Dragon Protection Corps present, his every move affected his comrades’ morale. If he fell, it would be a devastating blow to the others.
“HAHAHAHA! EXHILARATING! I didn’t expect someone could still withstand my fist at full strength!” Kroeyer laughed wildly. Energy pulsed through him, his arms becoming a blur of motion. The incredible speed of his fists even stirred gusts of wind strong enough to make it hard for an ordinary person to open their eyes.
Though affected by the oncoming gale, Ding Han, as a master who had entered the Spirit Gathering Realm, possessed keen Spiritual Perception. Even blindfolded, he could accurately sense Kroeyer’s movements.
Forcibly drawing Zhenqi from his Dantian, Ding Han roared. His fists shot out just as fast. In the blink of an eye, the two exchanged dozens of punches. Powerful force waves had long since destroyed the surrounding lawn completely.
Within thirty meters of them, no others could be found. Unless someone possessed strength comparable to or exceeding theirs, staying upright was impossible.
With each punch Ding Han blocked, his face grew redder. After blocking dozens, his internal injuries could no longer be suppressed. A mouthful of blood sprayed out violently, causing his Zhenqi to abruptly stutter.
Kroeyer smirked maliciously. He knew to crush an enemy when they were down. Seizing the chance, he lunged forward, giving Ding Han no chance to recover.
He grunted softly, suddenly pulling his right fist back to his hip. His left arm swept in a half-arc before his right fist shot forward with explosive power.
An eerie change occurred simultaneously. The retracting left arm suddenly became slender, while the striking right arm’s muscles massively swelled.
The already thick right arm now resembled the trunk of a young tree by the road, the fist as big as the bottom of a sand pot, looking utterly terrifying.
Ding Han was shocked. The sheer power contained in that punch would be obvious even to a total novice, let alone someone with his keen Spiritual Perception.
The incredibly fierce punch wind even pressured his breathing.
But coughing up that blood had slightly disrupted his stance. He had intended to take a moment to recover breath and Zhenqi as he retreated. Unexpectedly, his opponent pressed the attack relentlessly, offering no chance to recover.
Stuck, Ding Han forced himself to activate the Secret Technique again. Faltering Zhenqi was forcibly dredged up, causing his Meridians to twist violently. Excruciating pain made his brow furrow deeply.
He knew this would aggravate his internal injuries, but if he didn’t fight for his life now, he might be dead the next moment. Compared to that, he had no choice but to go all out.
Crossing his arms in an ‘X’, he focused all his forcibly raised Zhenqi into them, pushing the Secret Technique to its extreme. His arms flushed a deep crimson, and small beads of blood even seeped through his skin.
Both moved with blinding speed. Their transformations happened in a flash. The next moment, Kroeyer’s fist slammed onto Ding Han’s crossed arms.
Upon impact, the muscles along Ding Han’s arms rippled violently up and down, dispersing a portion of the force behind Kroeyer’s punch.
Kroeyer’s brow furrowed slightly, clearly noticing Ding Han’s move. He emitted another low grunt. The muscles on his right arm surged forward in a wave. Tremendous force transmitted through his fist, hitting Ding Han anew with amplified power.
Under this dual impact, Ding Han finally couldn’t withstand the colossal force. He spat another gout of blood as he was blasted ten meters away, crashing heavily onto the ground.
Meanwhile, after Kroeyer showed his strength, Lawrence let out a harsh, night-owl shriek of laughter. The faint black mist swirling around him thickened dramatically in an instant.
His previously clear silhouette vanished entirely within the dense fog. Moreover, the dark mist rapidly expanded its radius far beyond just enveloping his immediate vicinity.
The sudden change put Jiang Chu immediately on high alert. Just as he pondered how to counter this impenetrable dark fog, it rushed towards him at incredible speed.
Prolonged exertion had already slowed him down considerably, nowhere near Lawrence’s still-blinding speed. In moments, he too was swallowed by the rolling black mist.
Less than a minute later, Jiang Chu’s figure came flying backward out of the mist. Compared to when he entered only moments before, he looked thoroughly disheveled now.
His clothes were riddled with holes. A trickle of blood traced his chin, and several spots on his clothing were wet with blood. He was clearly gravely injured.
At that precise moment, Vivian, locked in combat elsewhere, let out another sharp, piercing wail. Spurred by the sight of their captains defeated, the remaining Dragon Protection Corps members seemed to falter, their actions becoming somewhat frantic.
With both fronts collapsing simultaneously, Lin Mu, seated atop the roof, let out a deep sigh. Among the Experts dispatched by the Supernatural Ability Group, two possessed exceptional strength, each slightly surpassing Jiang Chu and Ding Han.
Coupled with unfamiliarity regarding the Superpowers’ properties, the two captains ultimately lost control of the battle after prolonged struggles, defeated in turn by Lawrence and Kroeyer.
With their two strongest fighters beaten, the Dragon Protection Corps was pressed back relentlessly under the combined assault of the Supernatural Ability Group. Though other security personnel held off some attackers, the Dragon Protection Corps itself could no longer hold the line.
In under three minutes, the Supernatural Ability Group forces from both directions had pushed right into the heart of the Luo Family Manor, closing in on the central villa – where Luo Huafu resided.
“Lin Mu! Quick! Help! We can’t hold on much longer!” Ding Han yelled, fighting Kroeyer despite his injuries, barely managing to delay him. This was largely because Kroeyer’s earlier technique had drained a huge amount of his own energy; he had reverted to his previous form.
Without that, Ding Han would have been dead already. As it was, he could only fight a desperate retreat, backing towards the villa.
“Lin Mu! Make your move!” Jiang Chu, fighting his own retreat, was also at his limit. Lawrence, now a swirling mass of dark fog, was simply impossible for them to resist. Within just those few minutes, every member of the Dragon Protection Corps bore injuries.
Lawrence, swirling like a ghost through the battlefield, moved too fast for anyone to follow. Fighting him meant everyone was fighting at a disadvantage under relentless pressure.
Surveying the one-sided scene below, Lin Mu sighed helplessly. If he hadn’t coincidentally accepted a mission to protect Luo Huafu here in New York, the Dragon Protection Corps’ assignment would already be declared a complete failure.
Given the current situation, protecting the Luo Family members seemed impossible. Even ensuring his own comrades from the Dragon Protection Corps escaped the Supernatural Ability Group with their lives was uncertain.
Lin Mu abruptly stood. He brought his palms together, channeling dense Zhenqi from his Dantian. A powerful surge instantly coalesced between his hands, forming a pale gold ball of energy.
An immense Energy Fluctuation washed over the battlefield immediately, grabbing the attention of everyone below. Shock registered particularly strong among the Supernatural Ability Group, whose members stared towards the rooftop with wide eyes.
Born with Alien Energy within them, their sensitivity to energy far exceeded that of other cultivators.
Among them, the most shocked was Lawrence, hidden within his dark fog. As the strongest Superpower User present, no one understood better than he did just how terrifying the energy gathering above truly was.
