Chapter 132: Pre-Battle Discussion
Chapter 132: Pre-Battle Discussion
Hamilton gave a slight nod as a greeting to Lawrence. Lawrence wasn’t offended; with Hamilton’s status, such respect was deserved.
After Hamilton entered the room, eight more men and women walked in. They were of various heights and skin colors. These were the Superpower Users sent by the Supernatural Ability Group for this mission.
“Lawrence, I’ve received instructions from the authorities to assist in this operation. I brought fifteen Superpower Users. Three of them, like you, possess level four superpower strength.”
“However, their powers are unstable. They don’t have your level of control. So I need you to end this quickly. No delays. We can’t let anyone discover the Superpower Users’ weakness.”
Hamilton sat on the sofa, his tone very stiff, sounding almost robotic.
“Understood, Doctor. I’ll resolve the fight as fast as possible. Don’t worry. I’ll take charge; no problems will occur.”
Lawrence, of course, knew the biggest secret—the weakness of Superpower Users. He immediately patted his chest to promise, then called the other Superpower Users over. He started handing out the documents on the table for everyone to examine carefully.
The Superpower Users quickly took the materials and began studying them closely. Their deployments were rare, but every mission involved dangers far beyond ordinary human limits.
“The Luo Family and the Dragon Protection Corps?”
“Those Dragon Protection Corps people? Lawrence, you really need to be careful this time. I heard this mysterious force is incredibly strong. Three years ago, they clashed with Russia’s KGB elite at the border.”
“And that time, the KGB lost badly!”
Hamilton immediately adjusted his glasses. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he stared at the documents.
“Lawrence, employing us this time… against merely one family? The Luo Family has garnered such attention from the authorities? Is there some special reason?”
The Luo Family was world-famous, but most knew them only for their wealth. Beyond that, little was common knowledge. Even these Superpower Users weren’t really clear.
They usually underwent intense training, with little free time for gossip.
The woman asking looked very ordinary, like a regular office clerk. She was around thirty, usually called Picasso because she’d never had a boyfriend.
But no one present dared to underestimate this Picasso. Her superpower was so formidable even the strong Lawrence treated her cautiously.
“The Luo Family intends to relocate their corporate core back to Huaxia. Within one of their companies, several top-secret research projects are underway—research on weapons of mass destruction. So the authorities need to keep the Luo Family in New York.”
“Though that’s not the main point anymore. This Luo Family issue has escalated. Huaxia has deployed the powerful Dragon Protection Corps to protect the Luo Family.”
“Our main task now is to crush the Dragon Protection Corps personnel sent here. You are the United States’ most elite force. This battle will prove our strength!”
Lawrence explained in detail, his words forceful and passionate.
“Lawrence is right! Our goal this time is to show them! Our nation’s military strength is world-leading. Even in the mysterious field of human enhancement, we’ve reached the pinnacle!”
Hamilton nodded. The authorities believed the same. The Luo Family situation had become secondary. Take down the Dragon Protection Corps, and Luo Family would be easy pickings.
Everyone fell silent. At that moment, Picasso frowned. She put down her papers and asked, “When do we move out?”
“Tomorrow night. Exactly midnight. We launch the surprise attack.”
Lawrence handed out the finalized plan to each person. Then, everyone returned to their rooms to rest and gather their energy. When the time came, they just needed to execute their assigned tasks per the plan.
Everyone left except Hamilton. He gazed at the documents in front of him, his expression grave. After a long sigh, he slowly looked up.
“Doctor, what worries you?”
Lawrence sat down and poured Hamilton a glass of red wine.
“Lawrence, this world contains many mysterious forces. Superpowers are merely one of them. After years of study, the power originating in the East intrigues me most.”
“Superpowers are God’s gift. We merely utilize and enhance them. But in Huaxia, they have a system of Cultivation methods. They can make an ordinary person incredibly strong, even capable of fighting Superpower Users.”
“For too long, I believed humans couldn’t compare to natural forces. Yet extensive research shows I was wrong. Those Huaxia Cultivation methods maximize the potential hidden within the human body.”
“Humans are nature’s masters. The energy within us is far greater than imagined. Once human potential reaches a certain level, one can even control natural forces.”
Hamilton took a sip of wine. Clearly, his study of such mysterious forces had reached profound depths.
Had Lin Mu heard these words, even he might have applauded. The energy within the human body is boundless. Once a Cultivator reaches sufficient strength, they truly can manipulate the power of the universe.
Lawrence looked surprised. This was the first time he’d heard the Doctor speak like this, despite their long association.
“Don’t doubt my words. I don’t have conclusive proof yet, but signs are emerging. For this operation, you must not take it lightly!”
Hamilton drained his wine in one gulp. Without waiting for Lawrence’s response, he stood up and left the room.
The next day, news arrived that the Supernatural Ability Group members were in New York. Though the Dragon Protection Corps didn’t know their specific locations, their presence itself was undeniable.
Not knowing when the Superpower Users would strike—they weren’t ordinary folk; their patterns were unpredictable—the Dragon Protection Corps initiated total alert.
The atmosphere in the Luo Family Manor hung heavy, perfectly described as “the calm before the storm.” Even ordinary people like Luo Yuwen felt the intense pressure looming over the estate.
All day, Luo Yuwen stayed near Lin Mu. As he put it, being close to Lin Mu brought peace of mind; it eased his constant fear.
Lin Mu’s fight with Ding Han yesterday hadn’t caused major commotion, but Lin Mu sensed newfound respect from the guards patrolling outside.
It was genuine admiration for strength. Clearly, they roughly understood Lin Mu’s prowess. While they didn’t know his background, his superiority over Ding Han was beyond doubt.
In the room, Jiang Chu and Ding Han gravely discussed the incoming intelligence. The enemy’s overt arrival in New York suggested no intention to hide or evade the Dragon Protection Corps.
It seemed they wanted a direct confrontation.
Previously, the Dragon Protection Corps had encountered Superpower Users, but those were rogues. They couldn’t compare to the organized military force of the Supernatural Ability Group.
That group had the terrifying backing of a national machine. All resources poured into their training—their formidable strength was obvious.
Even the Luo Family members noticed the shift in the Dragon Protection Corps members’ demeanor. The manor grew unnervingly quiet. Conversations turned into hushed whispers, as if speaking loudly might invite calamity.
Throughout Luo Manor, only Lin Mu remained unflustered. He kept to his routine—completely at ease, perfectly relaxed.
Lin Mu truly felt no fear. If anything, he felt excitement, his interest in the arriving Superpower Users growing. While the Dragon Protection Corps had many Experts, they were allies; holding back was necessary.
But facing the Supernatural Ability Group? He had no reservations. He could go all out. How powerful were they? Maybe pushing his limits in such a battle could even lead to a breakthrough.
“Lin Mu.”
A voice called out from behind. Jiang Chu walked over. Compared to his previous encounters, Jiang Chu’s expression held a trace of warmth. Anyone familiar with Jiang Chu would find this astonishing.
“Ah, Captain Jiang! What brings you here today? Feeling chatty?”
Lin Mu turned his head and stretched lazily.
“Lin Mu, do I look like someone with time to chat? The situation looks grim. If my guess is right, our opponents will make their move very soon!”
Jiang Chu smiled weakly. He had a serious matter to discuss.
“Ah, I see. But with Captain Jiang and Ding Han here protecting the Luo Family, I’m sure this place is rock solid. See? I am not worried at all!”
Lin Mu shrugged with a light laugh.
Of course you’re not worried! Your Martial Arts are so strong! Even if everyone else here dies, you could escape easily!
Jiang Chu cursed Lin Mu internally, denouncing his shamelessness.
“Lin Mu, I’m here seeking your help. If the enemy really attacks, I hope you will protect Mr. Luo. Keep him safe. His safety is vital to our mission’s success.”
Though inwardly cursing, Jiang Chu wasn’t foolish enough to say it aloud. Openly, he needed to focus on securing Lin Mu—this formidable Master—as an ally.
