Chapter 124: Strong Reinforcements Arrive
Chapter 124: Strong Reinforcements Arrive
The Luo Family’s internal conflict ended. Luo Huafu chose the most helpless path to complete the first step of relocating the financial group. Though deeply troubled, as the Family Head, this pain was his burden to bear.
“Hello, Mr. Johansen. I regret to inform you the plan failed.”
But Luo Huafu didn’t know that at that very moment, in a room inside the Luo Family Manor, a phone call was being made.
“Understood. Leave the rest to us.”
A calm reply came from the other end, unsurprised by the news. The call ended abruptly.
“Lawrence, members of the Supernatural Ability Group will arrive in New York tomorrow. You have full command this time. Don’t disappoint me. Oh, one more thing—watch yourself. Their reinforcements are already here.”
Lawrence, relaxing in a luxury hotel bathtub, received the call. A strange smile curled on his lips.
He gave the red wine in his hand a gentle swirl. Liquid splashed over the rim, hanging momentarily in the air like intricate art, then streamed down into his mouth in a thin line.
Lin Mu didn’t know about the Luo Family’s internal turmoil as no one told him. But he could see the whole manor tense up.
He didn’t ask questions. Many unfamiliar faces moved through the manor. Seeing Wang Qing interact with them closely, he guessed they were also from the Dragon Protection Corps.
So things had grown this dangerous? The Dragon Protection Corps was sending new reinforcements to New York. Lin Mu’s expression grew serious.
Jiang Chu’s face wore its first smile since the attack. The reason sat in his room – a man named Ding Han.
“Ding Han! Unbelievable it’s you! Your help takes so much pressure off. Now I won’t have to worry about dropping the ball.”
Jiang Chu laughed heartily and gave the man a bear hug.
Ding Han appeared slightly younger but was taller than Jiang Chu by several inches. His long arms hung almost to his knees.
He returned the embrace with a smile. They were old partners, having completed countless missions together.
While not the strongest in the Dragon Protection Corps, they were the undisputed top duo. If there ever was a Golden Duo award, no one else stood a chance.
“Latest intel: the United States dispatched its Supernatural Ability Group. Command sent me immediately. Even with us two, we mustn’t let our guard down. I’m fully committed to assisting your mission.”
Ding Han handed Jiang Chu a folder.
Like the Supernatural Ability Group, the Dragon Protection Corps was Huaxia’s hidden force. With its Golden Duo united, Jiang Chu felt no fear, even facing the Supernatural Ability Group.
This operation remained under Jiang Chu’s command. Ding Han assisted and followed orders.
“The Haoyu Financial Group is immense. Preparations take time. Migration starts in about a month. I spoke with Mr. Luo. He agreed to stay indoors this entire month.”
Jiang Chu scanned documents while briefing Ding Han. “Our defensive focus shifts here, to this manor. Unable to catch us outside, they will storm this place.”
“Bring the gear in.”
Ding Han gestured to a Dragon Protection Corps member behind him. Two men promptly carried cases inside. The cases held the Corps’ newest, most advanced equipment.
“Deploy and calibrate now. Within an hour, I demand full coverage – no blind spots anywhere around this manor!”
After a quick inspection, Jiang Chu issued orders. He then unrolled a map. “See,” he pointed, “the manor is large, but our responsibility is secure the central villa.”
“Huh? Won’t other areas need strengthening?” Ding Han looked puzzled. Unlike Jiang Chu, he wasn’t fully briefed on Luo family matters.
“We have reliable intel: some Luo family members want Mr. Luo dead. So, ignore those zones. Protecting him is mission one.”
Jiang Chu smiled faintly, then stated coldly, “The Luo family’s move to Huaxia hinges on Family Head Luo Huafu. The rest? Their deaths mean little.”
Ding Han nodded. His role was support, nothing more. Without further comment, he studied the manor blueprint.
“The manor has extensive greenery – gardens, many trees. That’s a vulnerability. I defend south and east perimeters. You handle north and west. Any unauthorized entry – eliminate on sight.”
Jiang Chu pointed at the blueprint labels. “Confirmed intrusion means the central villa locks down completely. No exceptions. Not even Mr. Luo’s siblings!”
Guarding one villa required such caution because their enemy was the United States’ strongest Supernatural Ability Group. Slip-ups were deadly.
Huaxia possessed intelligence on Superpower Users, but records were spotty. They had no idea which chaotic powers they might face.
The unknown was the most terrifying adversary.
“That central villa… there’s another person inside. Reportedly, he’s also Corps. Did you assess him?” Ding Han studied Jiang Chu.
“He’s Lin Mu. Recommended by Lu Shouyang. Personal security for Luo Huafu. He operates outside our chain. We leave him be.”
Jiang Chu confirmed. “As for his background… sketchy. But roughly? His strength likely matches ours.”
“Likely?” Ding Han frowned, an eyebrow raised quizzically.
Jiang Chu understood the implication. Corps protocol required complete intel transparency. But this mission had variables: the unpredictable Supernatural Ability Group, and the mysterious Lin Mu.
“We tried looking into him. Descendant of the Donghai’s Lin Family, collecting antiques. The family holds little strength. How he got where he is? Some undiscovered secret, certainly.”
Jiang Chu summarized. His understanding of Lin Mu was limited.
Ding Han’s thick brows twitched. He didn’t press. Jiang Chu led. Ding Han executed. He cared nothing else.
Lin Mu learned of the new Experts arriving with Luo Huafu staying indoors. New possibilities stirred.
The attackers last time were clearly local New York gangs. Wang Qing investigated after the incident. Simple gangsters meant an easy check.
Lin Mu acquired the dossiers and studied them. Later, he told Luo Huafu he needed to go out that night. “Rare chance in the United States,” he explained. “Want to see Manhattan. Experience the West.”
Luo Yuwen heard of this exit and teasingly asked if Lin Mu sought nightclubs. Manhattan boasted the world’s best, filled with exotic beauties.
Money ruled there. Kings indulged in ultimate pleasure. It was a lavish trap. A rich man’s heaven. A poor man’s dream.
Luo Huafu didn’t probe further, having no authority over Lin Mu. He simply urged caution and had the butler fetch a gold card, stuffing it into Lin Mu’s pocket.
After dinner, Lin Mu quietly Cultivated in his room. At 10:30 PM, he drove solo from the manor, heading straight into Manhattan.
This was New York’s core. Its most opulent district – land cost its weight in gold. Lin Mu parked casually, withdrew cash, and wandered.
Turning corners, he entered a street lit pink and red. Outside already, thick perfume hung dense in the air, mixed with women’s scents.
Women stood lining each side in skimpy clothes. Bare legs gleaming. Covered in dazzling, flashy make-up.
Lin Mu wasn’t out for fun. He was here because the headquarters of the gang that attacked Luo Huafu was on this strip.
“Hey handsome! Wanna play?”
A roadside blonde fixed her eyes on Lin Mu. Swaying his way, she laid tiny hands on his shoulders. Her big eyes flickered downward suggestively.
Lin Mu had mastered several foreign tongues recently. His immense learning ability made this effortless.
Had his Soul Power not weakened, mere aura touch would grant instant understanding of every language.
“Yeah! I like ’em curvy. Tonight? You’re it!”
Lin Mu leered, eyes greedy over every curve of her body.
Next, he pulled a wad of bills – a thousand dollars – and shoved it into the woman’s cleavage with unnecessary vigor.
A trick learned from decadent Hollywood movies. Plenty of rich scenes like that.
The blonde giggled, fake-protesting with light raps on Lin Mu’s chest. The Asian’s tip pleased her immensely – she anticipated a lucrative night.
Good service might even bring an extra bonus. With that thought, she locked arms with Lin Mu. Together, they vanished down a shady alley.
