Chapter 117: The Mission Was Issued

“What is your name?”

Two police officers walked into the interrogation room and slapped the table as they asked the white man.

The white man did not reply. Instead, he slightly frowned and looked at the two officers with confusion, as if he didn’t understand Chinese.

One of the officers asked again in English, but the white man still looked like he didn’t understand.

The two officers helplessly looked at each other. One of them walked out, preparing to find a language expert to help with questioning.

Just as that officer left the room, the white man suddenly leaned forward, reached out with one hand, and clamped it around the remaining officer’s neck. With a light squeeze, the officer immediately lost his breath and passed out.

The white man shook his wrist, tossed aside the handcuffs that already had a melted gap, and then pulled a flat little box from his pants pocket.

He opened the small box. Inside was something thin, like a facial mask. He took it out, pressed it onto the unconscious officer’s face, then peeled it off and stuck it onto his own face.

After a little adjustment, the white man had already transformed into the appearance of that officer. Immediately after, he stripped off all the officer’s clothes and put them on himself.

Five minutes later, he swaggered out through the main entrance of the Municipal Bureau.

“Chief Shen! There’s a situation, look at this surveillance footage.”

An officer rushed into Shen Zhuguang’s office, then used the computer on the desk to open a surveillance video. The footage showed an officer leaving through the main entrance not long ago.

“What? Is there a problem?”

Shen Zhuguang didn’t see anything unusual and frowned as he asked.

“That officer who left isn’t one of us; he’s actually one of the group we just brought in. That officer is the one who was responsible for interrogating him, and he’s now unconscious in the interrogation room.”

“What? How could this happen?”

Shen Zhuguang was startled.

“Somehow, that person’s handcuffs were melted. There’s a gap broken in them, and he forced his way out. We don’t know how it happened.”

The officer was also baffled. In all his years as a police officer, this was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

“Notify everyone to strictly guard the remaining people. Also, immediately issue a warrant for the escaped person, inform all traffic checkpoints, step up inspections, and make sure to catch him before he leaves Donghai!”

Shen Zhuguang slapped the table and issued a series of orders.

“Yes!”

The officer turned and immediately jogged away. If Chief Shen was this concerned about a criminal, it definitely wasn’t an ordinary person. If anything went wrong, they couldn’t bear the responsibility.

Sitting alone in his chair, Shen Zhuguang felt more and more that something was wrong. Finally, he picked up the phone and reported what had just happened.

“You said there was a melted gap in the handcuffs?”

After hearing Shen Zhuguang’s report, the voice on the other end immediately became serious.

“Yes, we still have the handcuffs. There are indeed signs of melting.”

“Alright, you don’t need to handle this matter anymore. In a couple of days, someone will come to take over. You just need to cooperate with their actions.”

“Okay, I understand.”

After hanging up the phone, Shen Zhuguang let out a long sigh. This kind of thing was already beyond the capabilities of ordinary officers like them. They had encountered this kind of situation before.

However, every case was eventually classified as top secret, uniformly taken away by others. The local bureau didn’t keep any related records at all.

On the sofa, Lin Mu held Luo Bingyun quietly lying there. His right hand gently stroked back and forth along her smooth spine, feeling the slight, delicate panting of the beauty in his arms.

“A-Mu, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Luo Bingyun drew circles on Lin Mu’s chest and spoke softly.

“What?”

Lin Mu grabbed Luo Bingyun’s small hand and gently kissed it.

With a slight smile, Luo Bingyun explained the true purpose of the Luo Family’s move to Huaxia and the family’s current situation in detail. It took a full half hour to finish.

Lin Mu listened quietly. With a single-handed suction motion, he took the water cup from the coffee table and gave it to Luo Bingyun, who had been talking for a long time, to drink some water.

“So, that means the Luo Family’s future power will shift to Huaxia. At least the family’s core will all move here, and no important business will remain in the United States anymore, right?”

“Correct. Those who are not of our kind surely have different hearts! Our Luo Family’s core technologies are too enviable. Staying in the United States isn’t a long-term plan. It’s better to return to our roots and come back to our homeland.”

“That might be for the best. But I’m afraid the United States authorities won’t let the Luo Family leave so easily!”

Lin Mu frowned slightly. After studying during this period, he had learned a lot about the world’s situation. He knew very well what the United States authorities were like.

“Ah, we also know they won’t let us go easily, but we still have to leave. While they haven’t taken comprehensive action yet, we must withdraw as soon as possible.”

Luo Bingyun sighed lightly. Outsiders envied the Luo Family’s strength and wealth, but they didn’t know that this world-class wealthy family was now in a precarious state.

“Don’t worry too much. The cart will find its way around the hill when it gets there. Haven’t you also contacted high-level officials here in Huaxia? I believe they will help you too. After all, a prominent family like the Luo Family is very helpful even to a country.”

With a slight smile, Lin Mu kissed Luo Bingyun’s forehead.

“Mm, it’s just that this feeling of placing hope in others is really unpleasant. The future is uncertain!”

Luo Bingyun pressed her face against Lin Mu’s chest and rubbed it back and forth.

Lin Mu didn’t speak, just gently patted Luo Bingyun’s back. A light flickered in his eyes; it was unclear what he was thinking about.

In the evening, after finishing dinner, Lin Mu returned home. The three women were also at home. Seeing him return, Ling Xuanrong was the first to greet him, looking puzzled.

“A-Mu, did you secretly participate in the Municipal Bureau’s operation today?”

“Huh? How did you find out about that?”

Lin Mu put away his car keys and was slightly taken aback.

“This time, a foreign spy nest was destroyed in the West District, and over a dozen spies were captured. It caused quite a stir; even my foster grandfather knows about it.”

Ling Xuanrong said with a smile.

“Such a big operation, you didn’t think only the Municipal Bureau police participated, did you? The Donghai Military Department also sent people. When it involves foreign spies, it’s not something the police alone can solve.”

“So that’s how it is. It seems they were labeled as spies. Actually, they were a group of well-trained fighters. I could tell when I fought them; they were elite soldiers who survived brutal elimination processes.”

Lin Mu nodded, sat down on the sofa, and continued.

“They definitely weren’t ordinary spies. If I hadn’t participated in the operation today, the Special Police Forces who arrived first wouldn’t have been a match for those people. Probably many would have been killed or injured.”

“You weren’t just coincidentally wandering there today, were you? You went there alone because of that Luo Family’s young lady, Luo Bingyun, right?”

Ling Xuanrong suddenly asked.

“Uh, hehe, Bingyun is my friend. Among these people, someone tried to assassinate her today, so of course I had to help her track down these people.”

Lin Mu gave an awkward laugh and rubbed his nose.

Ye Zixi let out a mocking laugh, looked at Lin Mu with disdain, deliberately fanned her hand in front of her nose, and put on a sour expression.

“This Chanel No. 5 is the perfume that Miss Luo uses, right? No wonder it’s so fragrant. I remember someone said this was the perfume used by the aunt who sells breakfast.”

The corner of Lin Mu’s mouth twitched slightly. Faced with Ye Zixi, this little devil, he was completely defeated; he was no match for her at all.

“By the way, do you know what I saw when I went to the West District to deal with those people today?”

Seeing the situation was unfavorable, he immediately changed the subject: “Among them was a person with a superpower who could control fire. He coated his dagger with a layer of flames and could also increase his own physical strength.”

“Really?”

Hearing this topic, the three women were immediately distracted and all looked at Lin Mu curiously.

“Of course it’s true. I fought him. But he didn’t seem very powerful; he couldn’t even take one move from me. This kind of superpower is too weak.”

Lin Mu nodded.

“That’s not right. I remember these people aren’t that weak!”

Ling Xuanrong suddenly rubbed her forehead, as if remembering something.

“I think a long time ago, I heard my foster grandfather and others mention it. I was very young then, playing by myself. They didn’t avoid me during their conversation.”

“These people with superpowers, they called them Superpower Users. Their ability types vary widely; many don’t have offensive capabilities at all, but among them are also very powerful experts.”

“From what they said that time, it seemed one of Huaxia’s very powerful experts, almost top-level, nearly died overseas. That time, he was ambushed by two Superpower Users joining forces.”

When Lin Mu heard this, he frowned slightly. This description didn’t quite match the Superpower User he encountered today.

At the very least, he knew clearly that against that level of Superpower User he saw today, even if twenty of them ganged up on him, they wouldn’t be his match.

Yet a top-level expert from Huaxia was ambushed overseas by two Superpower Users and almost didn’t make it back. What did that mean?

It meant those were at least two experts of a similar level; even if there was a gap, it was only slightly inferior.

Just as they were chatting, Lin Mu’s phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

“Lin Mu, I’m Lu Shouyang.”

As soon as the call connected, the person on the other end directly introduced himself.

“So it’s Captain Lu. What’s the matter, contacting me so late?”

“About the Luo Family’s situation, do you know?”

Lu Shouyang got straight to the point without any beating around the bush.

“I know some of it. What’s wrong?”

Lin Mu asked, puzzled. How was the Luo Family’s matter connected to the Dragon Protection Corps?

“The higher-ups issued an order. The Luo Family’s return is a great boon for Huaxia, but the United States definitely won’t let them go easily. Now your first official mission has been issued.”

“What mission?”

“Go to the United States, protect the current Luo Family Head, Luo Huafu, and escort him safely back to the country.”
