Chapter 78: Shocking!!
Chapter 78: Shocking!!
“The good news is, for some reason, our energy collection factories doubled their output. Basically, each factory can produce around six Energy Crystals a day.”
After saying this, Fatty Lei looked amusingly at Bruce and Andrew.
Bruce breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Fatty Lei with an amused expression, saying nothing.
Andrew pointed at Fatty Lei, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “You rascal, you nearly scared me to death just now! I thought I was going bankrupt! You’re terrible!”
Fatty Lei shrugged. “Didn’t you act like it didn’t matter a moment ago?”
Andrew put on a pitiful expression. “Over three million Credit Points! How could it not matter? Even though I pretended not to care, my heart was bleeding inside!”
Fatty Lei smiled apologetically. “Sorry, just a small joke earlier. Hope you don’t mind.”
“Mind what? We’re about to get rich thanks to you, Mr. Odin!”
Andrew’s mood was excellent now; he wasn’t bothered by Fatty Lei’s little joke.
Sixty Energy Crystals a day meant a staggering six hundred million Credit Points! Their 35% profit cut was 210 million. Andrew absolutely didn’t care about a joke like that. Even a nastier one would have been fine.
In Andrew’s eyes, Fatty Lei now was a gleaming God of Wealth.
Ever since meeting Fatty Lei, Andrew’s life had gotten better day by day.
This was something he hadn’t dared dream of before. So, of course, Andrew wouldn’t get angry over this small joke.
Just then, Wangcai dragged in sixty fist-sized, crystal-like objects into the shop. “Master, today’s output is all here. Sixty pieces.”
Andrew and Bruce both stared wide-eyed at the sixty golden crystals.
“Mr. Bruce, the final step is selling all these crystals as quickly as possible. I’m a bit cash-strapped right now and need those Credit Points to buy some things.”
“Don’t worry, buyers are already lined up. Keep the Communicator open; they’ll be gone immediately.”
Andrew used some of his profit to pay the Transmission Fee. The sixty crystals then went straight to Bruce. Bruce promptly got in touch with a Sci-Fi Series Merchant, selling all crystals within just five minutes.
Fatty Lei and Andrew could hardly believe this kind of Energy was so popular.
Andrew was ecstatic. He was happy because his investment hadn’t been in vain.
Fatty Lei was also extremely pleased, thrilled that this business could last. After all, as long as the factories were running, these Energy Crystals could be supplied non-stop, exchanged for Credit Points.
“Master, your account has received 180 million Credit Points.”
Fatty Lei nodded. “That’s the 35% profit. And this is just the first day. There will be more tomorrow, and the day after. In the coming days, our income will be like this every day.”
Wangcai felt excited too. The more Fatty Lei earned, the greater the opportunity Wangcai would have to upgrade his body functions and increase his strength later.
So, Wangcai desperately hoped his master would earn as much as possible.
He knew the System required a huge number of Credit Points to enhance the abilities of a Smart Artificial Intelligence; it wasn’t a small sum. That’s why Wangcai had kept it from Fatty Lei, afraid Fatty Lei would worry.
But if Fatty Lei had lots of Credit Points, he probably wouldn’t mind spending them as much.
That’s what Wangcai thought.
“Alright, the profits for this round are distributed. We’ll trade again tomorrow. We’re all going to get rich!”
Fatty Lei said cheerfully to Bruce and Andrew.
“Mr. Odin, why not build a few more energy factories?”
Magic Apprentice Mr. Andrew suggested. He figured building more factories would increase his earnings.
Fatty Lei looked towards Bruce, waiting both for his answer and to gauge his thoughts.
Bruce pondered for a moment, then shook his head, indicating he didn’t agree.
“Increasing energy production is easy, but scarcity drives value. If we expand production, the energy won’t be worth as much. We likely wouldn’t make this much profit then. Besides, we don’t know if the energy in Mr. Odin’s world might become depleted the more we collect. So, I don’t think we need to add more factories.”
Bruce was very thorough. Truthfully, Fatty Lei also didn’t favor expanding the factories.
Just as Bruce worried, who knew how long the energy collection could last? What if it became less and less?
It was better to have a steady trickle than a big, unsustainable flow.
Thinking this, Fatty Lei cleared his throat and spoke up: “I agree with Mr. Bruce. Let’s not expand production for now. We must consider sustainable development. We can’t just focus on immediate gains.”
Andrew blinked. Seeing both disagreed, he didn’t argue further.
“Alright, since both of you disagree. Let’s keep going with this model. Anyway, the profits we’re pulling in now are huge.” Andrew conceded reasonably.
Bruce looked at both of them. “If there’s nothing else, I should log off now. I’ve got other matters to handle. There’s a war going on in my region; things aren’t looking so good.”
Fatty Lei and Andrew nodded. “Go ahead, Mr. Bruce. We hope you all pull through this crisis.”
“Hahahaha!” Bruce laughed heartily.
“Relax! With these Credit Points supporting us, we’re sure to win this war! Next time you see me, I might even be a General!”
Waving a tentacle, Bruce switched off his Communicator.
“Mr. Andrew, please stay. I have something to discuss with you.”
Remembering he wanted to buy some food and water, Fatty Lei stopped Andrew.
“What is it, Mr. Odin?”
“I want to purchase water and food. This time the amount might be quite large, so I need to discuss it with you properly.”
Fatty Lei then listed what he needed, and Andrew readily agreed.
Finally, after Fatty Lei paid 300,000 Credit Points, Andrew transmitted the requested supplies.
After some further conversation, Andrew logged off.
“Let’s go! To Rogue’s Shop!”
Now with Credit Points in his account, Fatty Lei felt downright richer. He walked taller.
A flash of milky white light, and Fatty Lei along with Wangcai materialized inside Rogue’s Shop.
The beautiful Artificial Human, No. 89, came forward to greet them. She remembered Fatty Lei.
“Good day, Mr. Odin. Welcome back to Rogue’s Shop. How may I assist you today?”
Beautiful, with excellent service attitude. Even though she was Artificial, Fatty Lei generously offered praise.
“Oh, my purpose here is to discuss a large order with Dr. Rogue. I wonder if Mr. Rogue is available?”
Guided by the beautiful No. 89, Fatty Lei and Wangcai were led to the reception area.
No. 89 brought over some snacks and milk tea, placing them before Fatty Lei.
“Dr. Rogue was injured some time ago. However, I can inform him. Whether he can come see you, I can’t guarantee,” No. 89 replied.
“Oh, Dr. Rogue got hurt? I truly didn’t know; that’s unfortunate.”
The beautiful Artificial Human No. 89 smiled very sweetly.
“Please wait a moment. I’ll go tell him now.”
Watching No. 89 walk away, Fatty Lei was in a great mood.
With plenty of Credit Points in his account and worries behind him, he could finally look forward to enjoying life once everything was truly settled.
With the tension easing, Fatty Lei’s mind inevitably drifted towards some… indulgent thoughts.
After all, he was a normal man. Couldn’t blame him.
“Maybe I’ll talk to Rogue about buying a beautiful Artificial Human?”
Fatty Lei thought it was a feasible idea. Compared to Monica, an Artificial Human wouldn’t carry any Virus, right?
Truthfully, Monica was far prettier, sweeter, and lovelier than No. 89.
But Fatty Lei always felt they were different species. If “frictions” happened, who knows what the consequences might be? That was the reason Fatty Lei hadn’t pursued thoughts about Monica. Little did he know that soon enough, he wouldn’t be entirely human himself.
Right now, Fatty Lei remained unaware of the fundamental changes quietly taking place within him since he ate the Sweet Potato and fused with Monica’s crystal.
These changes were just happening very slowly, yet to fully manifest.
While Fatty Lei was lost in his fantasy world, No. 89 had already notified Dr. Rogue that Mr. Odin was back and wanted to discuss a big business deal.
Hearing “big business,” Dr. Rogue, his head bandaged, forgot his injuries entirely and rushed over to see Fatty Lei.
“Money grubber!”
Seeing Dr. Rogue with bandages around his head and a sling supporting his left arm, Fatty Lei silently judged.
“Ah~ Mr. Odin! About this major transaction you mentioned?” Dr. Rogue swept in fast, his voice preceding him.
“This guy sure doesn’t look severely injured,” Fatty Lei thought. “Walking with so much energy – how bad could it really be? But who could injure a Dimensional Merchant like this?” The question deeply intrigued him.
“The main reason I’m here is to purchase another batch of Artificial Human Soldiers. Quantity… around 120,000.”
Fatty Lei stated his objective directly.
“Mmh! Mmh!”
At Fatty Lei’s words, delight spread across Rogue’s face.
“120,000 Artificial Humans! That really is a huge order!” Dr. Rogue looked at Fatty Lei with even more fervent intensity. “That’s 1.2 million Credit Points!”
“The price for Artificial Humans per unit is still the same as before. You’ll be satisfied!” Dr. Rogue assured.
“The price is fine; I accept it,” Fatty Lei answered with a smile. Then, looking at Dr. Rogue, he asked: “But I am curious, who on earth managed to injure you like this?”
As soon as he asked this, Dr. Rogue’s expression instantly sagged.
“Sigh, don’t mention it. These injuries were actually caused by… a kid.”
“A kid! That powerful?!” Dr. Rogue’s words instantly piqued Fatty Lei’s interest.
“My main work is research. To facilitate that in the Real World, I joined an organization. It provided me with certain conveniences, and in return, my research could collect data relevant to them through it.”
Dr. Rogue began his story.
Fatty Lei nodded repeatedly, agreeing with the approach.
“But recently, my organization somehow offended someone. Out of the blue, a little boy broke into our headquarters. And alone… that kid demolished the entire place! I happened to be inside, testing our newly produced Robot prototypes… and well, ended up injured.”
“That kid must be incredibly powerful to do that,” Fatty Lei said, stunned.
“For sure. It puzzles me too,” Dr. Rogue sighed deeply. “I just wonder… how that little guy named Sun Wukong got so terrifyingly strong. But then when I thought he was taught by the Immortal Tortoise… it made sense, I suppose.”
“Hold on! What did you just say?! That kid’s name is Sun Wukong? And he’s the disciple of the Immortal Tortoise?!”
Fatty Lei literally sprang from the sofa, staring at Rogue with absolute disbelief.
Dr. Rogue looked bewildered by Fatty Lei’s sudden, intense reaction.
So, he nodded and confirmed: “Yep! According to our Black Ribbon Army intelligence, the kid is called exactly that. And his master really is known as the Immortal Tortoise.”
“That’s crazy!” Fatty Lei was utterly shocked… and deeply shaken upon realizing which Dimensional Plane Dr. Rogue came from.
