Chapter 52: The Xenomorphs Are Strong
Chapter 52: The Xenomorphs Are Strong
The battle between the Xenomorphs and the Zerg was still going on, and the scene was totally chaotic.
Screeching and squawking sounds echoed all around the basin. Sand and dust filled the whole basin, making it hard for Fatty Lei to see clearly.
But Wangcai could see everything perfectly, since he was an Intelligent Lifeform.
“Commander Master, it looks like those Xenomorphs are at a disadvantage now,” Wangcai said, watching closely. Facing the huge numbers of Zerg attacking them, the Xenomorphs seemed to be struggling.
Whenever one Xenomorph killed a Bug, several other Bugs would swarm it.
There is a saying, a strong man cannot fight four hands, and a fierce tiger can’t hold off a pack of wolves.
“Yeah, there’s too much sand and dust. I can’t see clearly. What’s the situation over there now?” Fatty Lei made a sound of agreement, then asked Wangcai.
Hearing this, Wangcai quickly became the commentator. “The situation on the field is very bad for the Xenomorphs. Even though they are really fierce and can often fight one against three or even one against four, they can’t handle the Zerg’s numbers advantage.” Wangcai used his eyes to scan the battlefield, giving Fatty Lei live updates.
…
…
Huh?
Fatty Lei, who had been listening with great interest, suddenly noticed Wangcai’s confused sound.
“What’s wrong?”
Wangcai lifted his hand and pointed at the Alien Queen on the opposite sand dune, protected by dozens of Xenomorphs, and said to Fatty Lei, “Commander Master, look, what is that Alien Queen doing?”
Following Wangcai’s finger, Fatty Lei looked over. He saw that Alien Queen raising her body high on her lower limbs. The end of her thick tail was constantly wriggling, producing strange white fleshy egg objects one after another.
Fatty Lei’s pupils narrowed. “That Alien Queen isn’t giving birth, is she?”
In his original world, Fatty Lei had watched several of the movies in the Alien series.
So he had some understanding of how the Alien Queen reproduced.
“Commander Master, what exactly is that Alien Queen doing?” Wangcai asked, very puzzled because he didn’t understand.
In Wangcai’s view, his master should know quite a bit. After all, he had met those Universe adventurers before and they probably told him about the Xenomorph species.
Otherwise, how could this master know about the Bugs?
Wangcai wasn’t disappointed. After he asked, Fatty Lei indeed answered the question in a low voice.
“That Alien Queen is producing Xenomorphs.”
“Oh, so she’s producing Xenomorphs.” Upon hearing this, Wangcai shifted his gaze to the battlefield. He saw the Xenomorphs, who were at a disadvantage, fighting desperately with the Bugs.
“But it looks like the Bugs have the upper hand. Even if she produces Xenomorphs, it probably won’t change the situation, right?” Wangcai found this very strange.
Fatty Lei responded, “Not necessarily. After all, the Xenomorphs’ reproduction method is different from the Bugs’. I can’t explain it clearly in a short time. Just watch and you’ll understand.”
While they were talking, the eggs laid by the Alien Queen opposite began to mutate.
Wangcai adjusted the focus in his eyes, shortening the distance to see clearly.
He saw the tops of those white Xenomorph eggs strangely swell open like blooming flowers. From inside, small creatures crawled out, with five branch-like fingers and a long tail.
After crawling out of the eggs, they used their super jumping ability to quickly rush into the battlefield.
As Wangcai watched, these newly born young Xenomorph creatures climbed onto the Bodies of the Bugs that were still fighting.
“What are they doing?” Wangcai didn’t understand the Xenomorphs’ actions.
“They are parasitizing. It’s a unique way of survival for Xenomorphs,” Fatty Lei answered with a stern expression. “After these Xenomorphs are born, they must parasitize other creatures, absorbing their flesh and blood to grow stronger. When a Xenomorph matures, the host will completely lose its life.”
From Fatty Lei’s words, Wangcai felt the horror of the Xenomorphs.
Even though Wangcai was an Intelligent Lifeform, he couldn’t help but shiver.
“These creatures are really weird.”
Fatty Lei turned to look at Wangcai and grinned. “Don’t worry, Xenomorphs have rules for parasitism. Intelligent Lifeforms like you are not their targets.”
Hearing this, Wangcai finally felt relieved.
The battle on the field suddenly changed after these young Xenomorphs joined. The Bugs started attacking their parasitized comrades.
Every parasitized Bug was attacked and torn to pieces by its companions nearby.
It seemed these Bugs also knew what would happen to their comrades after being parasitized. So they solved the problem immediately, to avoid using a comrade’s flesh and blood to nourish the enemy’s birth.
“I wonder if the Bugs and Xenomorphs have fought too many times. It seems they understand the Xenomorphs’ parasitic method quite well,” Fatty Lei said softly, watching the scene.
“After all, they both live on this land. They must have fought many battles,” Wangcai said after thinking.
Even though the Bugs solved many hidden dangers in time, the Alien Queen had produced too many Xenomorph eggs. So those young parasitic Xenomorphs were not completely wiped out.
And because the Bugs killed many of their own to eliminate the threats, and because most of their attention was diverted to their comrades, the Xenomorphs found opportunities to kill many Bugs. So the number of Bugs greatly decreased.
“Right now, there are about three thousand Xenomorphs, and about thirteen thousand Bugs. It seems the Bugs have suffered heavy losses. That earlier chaos really affected them,” Wangcai reported to Fatty Lei.
After all, the scene below was chaotic, with dust everywhere, so Fatty Lei couldn’t see clearly.
That’s why Wangcai reported to Fatty Lei in real time, so he knew the current situation.
“It looks like the situation is not good for the Zerg now,” Fatty Lei said after hearing Wangcai’s report.
“Commander Master, that might not be the case. I see the Zerg Mother Queen is also desperately producing Warrior Bugs. Both sides are going back and forth. I think there’s still more fighting to come.” Wangcai thought both the Xenomorphs and Zerg had their own strengths and weaknesses, and it was hard to tell who would win or lose for now.
But Fatty Lei shook his head. “Just keep watching. The Xenomorphs haven’t fully erupted yet. That’s why I say the Zerg are at a disadvantage. Wait and see.”
Although he didn’t know why Fatty Lei said that, Wangcai carefully observed the changes on the battlefield.
The Alien Queen had produced about three to four thousand eggs in total. After these eggs parasitized the Bugs, more than half were destroyed immediately, but the remaining half survived.
But because of this, the number of Bugs had greatly decreased.
Plus, the Zerg Hive’s production speed for Warrior Bugs was a bit slow, so it couldn’t keep up with the rate at which the Warrior Bugs were being used up.
The Zerg Hive could produce ten Warrior Bugs at once, but it needed about three minutes.
Three short minutes weren’t enough.
But the Alien Queen wasn’t doing too well either. Maybe because she produced too many Xenomorph eggs, her body became very weak. She was even swaying while standing.
Luckily, there were guard Xenomorphs nearby. Otherwise, that Alien Queen would probably have collapsed onto the desert right away.
Seeing this, Fatty Lei had already made some judgments.
“The Hive’s advantage is that it can produce Warrior Bugs continuously, but the time isn’t enough. The Alien Queen can produce thousands of Xenomorph eggs at once, but the disadvantage is we don’t know how long it will take for her to produce again.”
But looking at that Alien Queen’s condition, she probably wouldn’t recover for at least a few days.
Right at that moment, a new situation occurred in the desert basin.
Maybe because the Xenomorphs in this world were made stronger, the Xenomorph parasitic larvae that originally needed a long time to hatch grew up strong and healthy in a very short time.
With a series of “Pop! Pop! Pop!” sounds, the bodies of the Zerg that were parasitized by Xenomorph larvae burst open one after another. New Xenomorphs, their bodies still dripping with sticky fluid, were born.
Suddenly, the situation on the field became very bad for the Zerg.
The Xenomorphs’ own Combat Power was much stronger than the Bugs’. And because new Xenomorphs were born, the number of Bugs decreased by over two thousand. With fewer Bugs, the pressure on them instantly became huge.
When there were five thousand Xenomorphs facing over thirty thousand Bugs, they fought evenly.
After a round of fighting, when the number of Xenomorphs dropped to just over three thousand, the Bugs could still fight. But suddenly, the Xenomorph numbers rose back to around five thousand, while the Bugs themselves were reduced to just over ten thousand. Compared to the earlier stage, their numbers were cut in half. This was not good.
The Zerg Mother Queen suddenly became tense too. Her wriggling speed became very fast.
Affected by the Hive’s emotional waves, the Bugs also became nervous and restless.
The Warrior Bugs slowly retreated, pressing their bodies tightly together. They lined up neatly, forming a defensive line made of flesh and blood.
“Squeak! Squeak!”
The Bugs kept screeching and hissing at the Xenomorphs, as if threatening them.
On the other hand, with the addition of the new army, the Xenomorphs slowly spread out and surrounded these Bugs. These Xenomorphs weren’t in a hurry to attack. They were waiting, waiting for the Bugs to show a weak spot before launching their attack.
Because the Alien Queen was very weak, the Xenomorphs needed to eliminate these Bugs with the smallest losses. That way, they could save the most warriors to protect the Alien Queen.
As if sensing the danger, the Bugs slowly formed a circle. They tightly guarded the Hive in the Central Zone, while the Xenomorphs tightly surrounded them on the outside.
Fatty Lei, who was watching the show, suddenly asked Wangcai, “Do we have any heavy weapons here?”
