Chapter 51: Zerg vs Xenomorph

As the Xenomorphs appeared behind the sand dunes, the bugs lined up in the basin to face the enemy became very tense and agitated.

Watching from the top of a faraway sand dune, Fatty Lei paid close attention; he saw the bugs brandishing claws and fangs to put on a show.

It seemed they thought they could scare the Xenomorphs; too bad the Xenomorphs weren’t easily frightened.

These Xenomorphs, like the bugs, were ruthless and cold-blooded, so tiny threats wouldn’t scare them.

But the Xenomorphs lined up on the dune suddenly stopped without rushing to attack.

“Commander, it looks like those Xenomorphs are waiting for something,” Wangcai quietly told Fatty Lei.

Fatty Lei nervously rubbed his hands; for an ordinary guy like him to not feel nervous at such a huge scene was just bragging.

After all, such sights could only be seen in sci-fi films before.

But what he saw now was a real, living showdown between Xenomorphs and bugs.

“These Xenomorphs are probably waiting for the Queen,” Fatty Lei said to himself.

“The Queen?” Wangcai was confused.

Fatty Lei nodded, “The Xenomorph group structure is like Zerg; a female Xenomorph rules at the top, called the Queen,” Fatty Lei explained to Wangcai.

“Both sides have females as top leaders? Seems like Xenomorphs and Zerg have common ground,” Wangcai said softly after hearing this.

“But since they’re different species, conflict can’t be avoided,” Fatty Lei responded.

Just as Fatty Lei and Wangcai talked during this tense moment, a huge Xenomorph emerged behind the Xenomorph lines on the opposite dune.

“Look, that’s the Alien Queen,” Fatty Lei said, pursing his lips toward Wangcai now that he saw it.

Wangcai turned his gaze; he spotted a Xenomorph that towered over others by twice its height, standing out like a boss on the dune.

Apart from being much stronger than regular Xenomorphs, the shape of its head was different too.

A normal Xenomorph had a long head shape, but this massive one’s head looked triangular.

Plus, its shell was deep black instead of the dark black color of regular Xenomorphs.

“This is the Queen?” Wangcai gasped at the sight. “It seems way fiercer than other Xenomorphs, and much tougher than the Zerg Hive.”

He glanced at the Zerg leader, the big lump of flesh.

“It’s hard for me to tell, since I’ve just heard of both. But their fight is new to me,” Fatty Lei’s heart raced, his palms sweaty with nerves.

Even though this war had nothing to do with them, Fatty Lei still felt a bit nervous as a watcher.

“Should we get the soldiers out to set up defenses?” Wangcai asked.

Fatty Lei shook his head slowly, “No need; let everyone stay inside the vehicles.” He declined the idea, not wanting a fight here. “We aren’t here for war; we’re just passing by to watch.”

“If we build defenses, it might annoy them and they attack us too.” Fatty Lei really didn’t want any part in the Xenomorph-bug war.

“Besides, if something happens, being in vehicles lets us run right away.”

Hearing this, Wangcai nodded, “That makes sense, Commander; we’ll just enjoy the show.” Then he told a nearby Artificial Human, “Pass it to other vehicles; be ready to bolt at the first trouble, no sticking around.”

“Vehicle One and Vehicle Two will hold the rear; Vehicles Three and Four scout ahead and blast anything in sight,” Wangcai got prepped for a retreat.

“Copy that, Commander!” Artificial Humans weren’t bright, with stiff faces, but their obeying nature pleased Wangcai and Fatty Lei.

Wangcai’s orders quickly reached other vehicles and soldiers.

Armored Vehicle One and Armored Vehicle Two drove ahead a bit, placing themselves at the left front and right front of Fatty Lei’s vehicle for better cover.

Up top, the laser cannons were charged up, soldiers on high alert.

The other two armored vehicles fell back hundreds of meters to hide behind sand dunes, as scouts and support for any getaway.

Fatty Lei paid no mind since Wangcai handled it.

To Fatty Lei, he didn’t know about such things, so why fuss?

Better to let Wangcai sort it out than meddle with messy orders.

Fatty Lei trusted Wangcai to do it well.

Meanwhile, in the desert basin, the Hive sped up making warrior bugs, sprouting dozens more into the bug crowd in no time.

For Xenomorphs, they were way outnumbered by Zerg.

But Xenomorphs were beefier and nimbler than bug warriors.

“These bugs look like basic warrior bugs, pups; maybe this Hive isn’t up to high level or can’t create better ones?” Fatty Lei suddenly recalled a game from his old world.

He didn’t know that while the bugs felt like Zerg in the game, they weren’t the same—these were real, not just game stuff.

In this world, Zerg warriors were boring, just the type he called pups; no others existed.

No doubt, Zerg was very plain, but that couldn’t be helped.

Evolution takes a long time; maybe Zerg would get game-like warriors later, but not now.

Fatty Lei found this out later, of course; for now, he fixed on the Hive being too low-level to build advanced fighters.

With loud shrieky squeals!!!, like a battle horn blowing, the row-by-row bugs surged out in waves toward the Xenomorphs on the dune.

Dust from their run blocked the basin’s sky.

With a guttural RAAAA!!!! sound, the Alien Queen slowly twisted, metallic noises dripping from her gooey mouth; other Xenomorphs charged down, using height to smash tiny bugs.

Truth told, Xenomorphs stood twice as tall as bugs on average, with sharper, stronger claw limbs.

Also, they crashed downhill while bugs climbed up.

So, straight off, bugs took a bad hit.

As Xenomorphs zoomed into bug lines, many bugs flipped or got thrown back.

And with that edge, they waved sharp limbs for messy hacks and cuts.

No doubt, bugs lost round one.

Xenomorphs were far fewer; Wangcai scanned and told Fatty Lei, “About five thousand Xenomorphs here, but roughly thirty-eight thousand bugs.”

An intelligent life, Fatty Lei trusted his counts fully.

“Nearly one to seven; those Xenomorphs are brutal,” Fatty Lei said softly, eyeing the distant clash.

“Commander, loads of bugs got wiped out in the first charge,” Wangcai reported, watching the fight.

“Just starting now; no calling it till the end,” Fatty Lei knew both sides were scary; too soon to name winners.

But Zerg sure suffered big in that first clash.

Bugs attacked in echelon lines, rank by rank.

Facing Xenomorphs, the front four to five lines were almost gone. That was all, though; rushing bug ranks like the fifth, sixth, or more echelons wore Xenomorphs down.

Bugs charged without fear; each one down brought three or four leaping in. With sheer numbers over quality, they pressed on.

Seemed the Hive lived by this rule.

Soon, battle got deadlocked; Xenomorph-versus-bug war had no fancy tricks—just wild gore and grit beyond the opening clash.

With a shrill SHRIEK!!!, one Xenomorph sliced and flung a bug up while spinning fast; its claw limbs swung down—then, out of nowhere, a bug jumped high behind and landed on it.

Thud! Before Xenomorph could react, sharp bug limbs stabbed into its head.

BANG~~~ The Xenomorph collapsed.

Ji ji! Ji ji! Fast, a swarm of bugs descended on it, stabbing wildly. In seconds, the body got chopped into bits, totally ruined.

Right then, a blast scattered these bugs; two got cut in half by another Xenomorph charging sideways as they ganged up…

“What a free-for-all fight,” Fatty Lei sighed from the sidelines.
