Chapter 43: Conversation
Chapter 43: Conversation
An arch made of glaring white light appeared not far away.
The powerful energy buzzed with a humming sound. A man around fifty years old, with messy hair, wearing thick glasses, a white lab coat, and flip-flops, walked out from the gate.
After the man stepped out of the energy arch, the energy arch slowly faded away.
“Hello there,” the middle-aged uncle greeted cheerfully, raising his hand towards Fatty Lei.
This middle-aged uncle had a friendly face with a red, bulbous nose. His face was pockmarked, like the surface of the Moon. Combined with his outfit, he looked quite amusing.
But Fatty Lei did not dare to laugh, because the beautiful woman beside him turned and said, “This is our boss, Mr. Rogue. If you have any business, you can discuss it with him.”
This plain-looking, sloppy guy was actually the shop owner. That was why Fatty Lei did not dare to laugh.
“Oh, oh, so you are Mr. Rogue! Hello! Hello!” Fatty Lei walked over and reached out to shake Rogue’s hand.
Fatty Lei and Rogue both pulled their hands back. Rogue spoke first, “Sir, I rushed over as soon as I got the message from my staff. I heard you wanted to buy Robots, is that right?”
As soon as business was mentioned, Rogue became very serious.
Fatty Lei nodded and said, “Yes, I need to buy a batch of combat-capable Robots. But the staff member just told me you don’t have such products here.”
“Please come this way, let’s talk over there.” Rogue turned slightly and gestured. Then he turned back and shouted to the beautiful woman, “No. 89, go prepare some desserts and champagne. I need to discuss business with the client.”
The beautiful woman nodded and left to carry out the order.
“She is an Artificial Human I created to manage the shop.” Perhaps noticing Fatty Lei’s confused expression about the woman’s name, Boss Rogue, who was leading the way, explained quietly.
“Artificial Human?” Fatty Lei was stunned. Rogue smiled and replied, “Yes, Artificial Human.” Rogue looked a little proud as he pointed to the goods around them and said, “Sir, look, all these products were made by me. They are the result of my hard work. They’re pretty good, right?”
Fatty Lei had no idea what those products were for, so how could he know if they were good or not? But since the boss made them himself, what could Fatty Lei say?
So Fatty Lei could only mumble vaguely, “Hmm! Not bad, not bad!”
Rogue led Fatty Lei and Wangcai to a corner. There were neat sofas arranged there, with a small bar nearby.
It seemed this area was specifically for business discussions.
Fatty Lei understood this very clearly after one glance.
“How should I address you?” Rogue asked after they had all sat down.
“You can call me Odin, sir,” Fatty Lei said, using his fake name again.
“Then, Mr. Odin, let’s get straight to business.” Rogue leaned back and looked at Fatty Lei. “Mr. Odin, must you buy Robots? Can’t you consider another product?”
Wangcai stood behind Fatty Lei, watching him with a humble expression.
“Mr. Rogue, the environment where I live is very harsh. And the main reason I want to buy Mechanical Lifeforms is to save Credit Points. Besides, Mechanical Lifeforms ensure Loyalty Level, and they don’t need food or drink, which saves a lot of trouble.” Fatty Lei guessed Rogue’s intention and explained his own considerations.
“Mr. Odin, our meeting is fate. As the saying goes, even if the business doesn’t work out, the goodwill remains. Although I don’t have Robots to sell, could you consider Artificial Humans instead?” Rogue finally revealed his purpose.
So Rogue wanted to promote his own Artificial Humans.
“Hmm~~~” Fatty Lei pretended to be hesitant. He didn’t answer Rogue immediately but instead looked thoughtful.
Actually, Fatty Lei was quickly thinking in his mind: which was better, Robots or…
Robots were rigid, but they could execute his commands one hundred percent. Plus, he didn’t need to worry about their food and drink, nor about their wear and tear.
After all, they were just metal shells; as long as they could protect his ‘Farm’, that was enough.
As for the Artificial Humans Rogue was promoting, Fatty Lei knew nothing about their pros and cons. Without that, he couldn’t judge which was better, so he couldn’t give Rogue an answer right away.
“Uh~” Fatty Lei thought for a moment and then said to Rogue with difficulty, “Mr. Rogue, I don’t have a standard to judge your Artificial Humans by. So I can’t give you an answer.” Fatty Lei simply told the truth.
“May I ask what you plan to use the Robots for, Mr. Odin?” Rogue immediately asked after hearing Fatty Lei’s words.
“As long as we keep talking, I think this business can be done. Artificial Humans are a new product I just created; I need to find some buyers to test them before full promotion. Recently, I don’t have a single Credit Point left in my account. If I can’t sell anything soon, the System will Eradicate me.” Rogue looked nervously at Fatty Lei while thinking wildly to himself.
So Rogue was trying so hard to sell Artificial Humans to Fatty Lei just to test his products in another Dimensional Plane.
After all, it was a new product, and there wasn’t much data to judge it by. So none of Rogue’s previous customers wanted to buy them.
Although Rogue made and sold his own products, most components had to be bought from other Dimensional Merchants.
And Rogue himself was only interested in research; he didn’t care much about Dimensional Trading. If it weren’t for the fact that he could buy parts not available in his own World through the Dimensional Trading Device, it would be useless to him.
This led to Rogue buying large quantities of needed parts every time he sold products. As a result, he never had extra Credit Points. And at this time, Rogue had used all his savings to make Artificial Humans, so he really hoped to sell some.
There was just too much stock.
All these reasons were why Rogue came personally to discuss with Fatty Lei.
After all, in Rogue’s view, his Artificial Humans were similar to Robots. Their functions for labor and such should be about the same, right?
That was why he was trying so hard to promote his Artificial Humans to Fatty Lei.
But Fatty Lei’s argument was not without reason.
He had no idea about the pros and cons between Robots and Artificial Humans. How could he rashly buy them? Even a fool wouldn’t do that.
That was when Rogue realized and asked Fatty Lei what he needed the Robots for.
If Fatty Lei didn’t have a major use for the Robots, then according to Rogue’s thinking, he might as well fully promote his Artificial Humans.
“I have a Farm, and I need some personnel to guard it. Because around the Farm, there are monsters that appear from time to time. Those monsters have strong Combat Power, and their blood is highly corrosive. That’s why I considered Robots, which feel no pain or fear, to buy and guard the Farm.”
Fatty Lei didn’t want to hide anything and said it directly.
“Oh~ I see.” Rogue relaxed. “Mr. Odin, you could actually consider my Artificial Humans.”
Rogue felt he might well secure this business.
“Then, Mr. Rogue, please introduce them.”
At that moment, Artificial Human No. 89 came over carrying cakes and drinks, placing them one by one in front of Rogue and Fatty Lei.
Since he was being treated so well, Fatty Lei felt a bit embarrassed to refuse.
“Please help yourself. The milk tea here is very tasty.”
Rogue smiled and made a ‘please’ gesture with his hand.
Then Rogue said, “First of all, my Artificial Humans have Combat Power, you can rest assured about that. Compared to Robots, my Artificial Humans might even have higher Combat Power.” At this point, Rogue looked very confident.
“Their skeletal structures are made of high-density G68 alloy, and their skin is synthesized from rare species Genes I bought from the Fantasy Dimension. So they have strong corrosion resistance, which is another advantage.” Rogue smiled as he explained the advantageous functions of Artificial Humans one by one to Fatty Lei.
After a while, Fatty Lei interrupted Rogue.
“Sorry to interrupt you.” Fatty Lei sat up straight. “As you described, Artificial Humans are not weaker than Robots, maybe even stronger. But how can I ensure their Loyalty Level? You see, with Robots, I don’t have to worry about rebellion. And they carry out commands to the death. These are what I value most.”
So that was what Fatty Lei was worried about—such trivial matters.
When Fatty Lei interrupted him, Rogue had thought his introduction dissatisfied Fatty Lei, which made him a bit nervous inside…
“Hahahaha~~”
Rogue laughed heartily, then stopped and looked at Fatty Lei, saying, “Mr. Odin, you don’t need to worry about that at all. When I made the Artificial Humans, I already considered this issue. Besides, my original purpose in creating Artificial Humans was to sell them as troops to Dimensional Planes full of war.” Rogue spoke frankly to Fatty Lei.
“If the Loyalty Level of Artificial Humans couldn’t be guaranteed, who would dare to buy them?” Rogue assured Fatty Lei that his Artificial Humans would never have such problems.
Rogue’s original intention for creating Artificial Humans actually stunned Fatty Lei.
“Artificial Humans as troops for war-torn Dimensional Planes? Isn’t that an arms dealer? Huge profits!” Fatty Lei thought this guy Rogue was really something else.
