Chapter 111: Laboratory

“Young Master, are you really going to infiltrate the ‘Divine Glory Empire’?”

After hearing Lei Yaotian’s decision, Wangcai immediately rushed back from the construction site. As soon as he saw Lei Yaotian, he asked this question.

By then, the ‘sun’ had already set, and deep darkness enveloped the planet. Two bright ‘moons’, like jade plates, cast silvery starlight onto the land, and shimmering stars dotted the night sky.

Lei Yaotian held a cup of blue liquid in his hand. Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window and gazing at the outside night, he nodded and replied, “Yes, I do plan to do so.” Wangcai walked over and asked, “Then why does Young Master have such a plan? Wouldn’t it be better for us to hide and develop slowly?”

Wangcai couldn’t quite understand why Lei Yaotian had this idea.

In his view, they could just hide on this planet and develop gradually. There was no need to venture out of this star sector and interact with the beings in the universe.

It was completely unnecessary.

But now that his Young Master had such a plan, he felt he must understand what his master was thinking.

As an Intelligent Life steward, though he couldn’t oppose his master’s decisions, offering reasonable advice was essential—provided he first understood his master’s inner thoughts.

Lei Yaotian sensed Wangcai coming up behind him, but he didn’t turn around.

He raised the crystal cup to his lips, tilted his head back, and drank the blue liquid in one gulp, then casually tossed the cup aside.

“I am very lonely~”

Lei Yaotian didn’t explain with grand reasons but murmured those words softly to Wangcai.

“Lonely?”

Wangcai didn’t quite understand this word.

“Wangcai, I am a carbon-based life form. So I have all sorts of complex emotional systems, and beings like me are social creatures. It’s not good to be alone for too long. I don’t think you would understand this, but I hope you can comprehend it.”

“Alright, Young Master. Even if that’s the reason, it’s still not enough.” Wangcai stood behind Lei Yaotian and said to him. “I want to know the deeper reason.”

“Living in the cosmic era, if I don’t experience the splendid life of this age, I feel like I’d be letting myself down.” Lei Yaotian turned around at this point and grinned at Wangcai. “Besides, don’t you think we are a bit too isolated?”

Slowly, he turned his body back and gazed out at the starry sky again.

Lei Yaotian’s eyes looked very distant as he mused to himself, “Moreover, if possible, by joining the Divine Glory Empire, I can slowly infiltrate the higher levels using the identity of a citizen. If I can grasp some power, I think it would provide a little help later when I advance my merchant rank and launch a Dimensional War.”

When Wangcai heard Lei Yaotian mention advancing his merchant rank and launching a Dimensional War, his expression turned serious, and he thought to himself, “The Young Master has a point. When a Dimensional Merchant advances to the primary rank, they indeed must wage a Dimensional War so the System can evaluate their control over this Universe’s Dimensional Plane. While we could achieve this goal through gradual development, according to the Young Master’s plan of a million Warship Factories, it’s still far from enough to face all the civilizations and species in the universe.”

“If we follow the Young Master’s idea and can seize power in the Divine Glory Empire, using its military to wage war along with the help of our Base, achieving this goal might not be so difficult.”

After thinking it over, Wangcai analyzed the pros and cons.

“In that case, let’s proceed as the Young Master wishes. But we must ensure the Young Master’s safety.”

After hearing Lei Yaotian’s words, Wangcai no longer opposed the idea much.

“What are your thoughts on safety? My plan is to buy a top-tier Heavy Aircraft Carrier from Bruce at a high price. Then, purchase one hundred thousand Artificial Human Soldiers from Rogue to serve as crew for the warships and Mecha combat personnel.” Lei Yaotian said with his back to Wangcai.

Wangcai took a few steps forward and came to Lei Yaotian’s side.

“Give me a few more days. The research on the Saiyan Genes has made some progress. Once I can crack it, you can have a few Saiyan bodyguards by your side.”

Lei Yaotian nodded. “That would be best. I can’t always carry those Artificial Human Soldiers and warships with me. So having a few Saiyan guards with super Combat Power is ideal. But where exactly is your gene-cracking research stuck?”

The research on cracking the Saiyan Genes had been going on for at least half a year.

Wangcai never gave up on the research, but because the Saiyan Genes were too powerful, he hadn’t yet found a way to fuse them with the Genetic Humans, who had Zerg and Artificial Human Genes.

Now that Wangcai said there had been some progress, Lei Yaotian felt a little bit of interest.

For the past half year, the research hadn’t made any effective breakthroughs. Originally very interested, Lei Yaotian had started to feel somewhat discouraged.

“It’s still the Fusion problem. Whether it’s the gene-cultivated life forms from Zerg or Artificial Human Genes, their bodies are too fragile. They simply can’t withstand the powerful energy released during the Fusion with Saiyan Genes and end up exploding.”

“So it’s still that issue.”

“Yes, Young Master. Recently, I fused and improved the Zerg Genes with the Artificial Human Genes, creating a new kind of life. This life form’s physique is much stronger than that of individual Zerg or Artificial Humans, so I think it should be able to withstand the powerful energy in the Saiyan Genes.”

“A two-in-one life form?”

Lei Yaotian widened his eyes. He had no idea what the new life form, created from the fusion of Zerg and Artificial Human Genes, would look like.

It might even turn out to be a big monster…

Seeing his Young Master’s stunned expression, Wangcai smiled sheepishly.

“Actually, it’s not exactly a two-in-one life form. There are genes from other creatures too. Overall, genes from several dozen different organisms were fused together to create this powerful life form.”

At that moment, Lei Yaotian didn’t know how to describe Wangcai anymore—using dozens of creature genes to fuse and create a new life form.

Do you think you’re God or something!

Lei Yaotian really wanted to shout that at Wangcai.

“Hmm~” Lei Yaotian paused for a moment, then asked, “After fusing genes from dozens of creatures, what kind of monster is this new life form? And I’m also curious, where did you get so many biological genes?”

“Well~ the appearances of the new life forms are all sorts of strange, but I’ve already adjusted the Gene Sequence. So now their looks are fairly normal, at least not so ugly.” Wangcai replied to Lei Yaotian. “And the genes were easy to obtain. Every time I went to Mr. Bruce to purchase equipment and materials for the Warship Factory, I would also visit Mr. Andrew. His side belongs to a Fantasy World Dimensional Plane, with many powerful creatures, so I got dozens of powerful biological genes from him.”

“Oh my god!”

With that explanation from Wangcai, Lei Yaotian understood the source of these genes.

Genes from creatures in a Fantasy World Dimensional Plane—no wonder Wangcai said the resulting life forms were all sorts of strange.

“How about this, Young Master. I’ll take you to the research lab now so you can see for yourself what the new life forms look like.”

Wangcai felt it was better to show Lei Yaotian rather than just tell him.

Lei Yaotian nodded; he also thought it would be better to see with his own eyes.

Wangcai’s research lab was located in the lower levels of the mountain Base.

“Shhh~~~~”

The silver Metal Gate slid open to the side, and Lei Yaotian and Wangcai entered the Laboratory.

As soon as the Metal Gate opened, Lei Yaotian saw rows of cylindrical Gene Cultivation Tanks lining the corridors inside the lab.

The cylindrical Gene Cultivation Tanks were about two meters in diameter and three meters high. Each tank was filled with pale green, viscous liquid, and inside every Cultivation Tank floated a life form with a bizarre shape.

Some had enormous heads but withered, shriveled bodies like infants. They wore oxygen masks, eyes closed, curled up motionless in the mucus.

Other life forms had human-like bodies, but their faces featured only a mouth, with two vertical rows of six eyes each.

As they walked, Lei Yaotian looked at the various life forms in the Cultivation Tanks, feeling a complex, indescribable emotion deep inside.

“When a civilization masters gene technology, does it constitute a blasphemy against life? Creating life forms arbitrarily, then arbitrarily destroying and tormenting them…”

Looking at these life forms in the Cultivation Tanks, Lei Yaotian felt something unclear churning inside him.

Wangcai noticed Lei Yaotian slowing down and glanced back. He happened to see the somewhat pained expression on Lei Yaotian’s face, as if he felt uneasy about the life forms in the tanks.

“Young Master, are you feeling a bit troubled?”

Wangcai walked to Lei Yaotian’s side and asked softly.

“After all, they are also lives. Do you think we might be doing something wrong?”

Lei Yaotian seemed to be asking Wangcai, but also himself.

Hearing this, Wangcai fell silent for a moment.

“I will dispose of them later. If the experiment fails, I won’t keep them around.” After a long silence, Wangcai could only say this to Lei Yaotian.

“There’s no need for that. After all, you still need to keep them to observe relevant data. Actually, I was just expressing a sentiment earlier…”

Lei Yaotian cheered up and said to Wangcai with a smile.
