Chapter 93: Human Movement Data Collection

The next morning, just as Chen Mo and Xiaoyu stepped out of the villa’s entrance, a car stopped right at the door. Wang Hai got out from inside and opened the car door for the two of them.

Seeing Wang Hai, Chen Mo smiled and said, “You’re back.”

During this period, Chen Mo had Zhao Min follow up on Wang Hai’s matter. Because he had fired a gun, Wang Hai had to be investigated no matter what.

“They didn’t give a response. I’m out on bail for now,” Wang Hai nodded.

“They didn’t give you a hard time, did they?” Chen Mo asked.

“No,” Wang Hai said.

“Get in the car,” Chen Mo said to Xiaoyu beside him.

With Xiaoyu here, it wasn’t suitable for him and Wang Hai to talk too much. The less Xiaoyu knew about these things, the better. He would handle these matters himself.

“Wang Hai, stop by the plaza on the way. I need to buy something,” Chen Mo said.

“Okay,” Wang Hai nodded, his eyes glancing at the rearview mirror from time to time.

Not long after, the car stopped outside the Commercial Plaza. Chen Mo told Xiaoyu to wait in the car and ran into the plaza. Ten minutes later, he ran out carrying a bag.

“Clothes?” Xiaoyu looked at the bag in Chen Mo’s hand, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “Why are you buying clothes at a time like this?”

“It’s useful,” Chen Mo said mysteriously. “Wang Hai, let’s go.”

The rest of the journey was quiet.

When they arrived outside his Experimental Zone, Chen Mo noticed several employees waiting there with two treadmills.

“Move the treadmills to the Laboratory door,” Chen Mo said to the workers.

His Laboratory couldn’t just let anyone enter, especially after a series of incidents. Moreover, with the Robot involved, these researches couldn’t be known by ordinary employees, so he didn’t let them carry the treadmills directly into the Laboratory.

“Yes, Chairman,” the employees placed the treadmills at the Laboratory door and then left the Experimental Zone.

After making sure the treadmills were fine, Chen Mo called Zhao Min.

“Chairman, what’s up?”

“I need to borrow your assistant,” Chen Mo said with a laugh.

“She’s your person. Why do you need to borrow her from me?” Zhao Min was amused by Chen Mo’s words.

“At the company, she’s your assistant. If I just call her over whenever I want, what about her work? I’m requisitioning her for these two days,” Chen Mo said.

“It seems you still separate work and personal matters. I’ll notify her to come up,” Zhao Min said. “I’ll also have her bring the financial reports from the last two months for you.”

“Good,” Chen Mo said.

Not long after hanging up, Xiaoyu walked into Chen Mo’s Experimental Zone carrying a folder.

“These are the company’s financial reports for the last two months.”

“You’ve looked at them, right?”

Chen Mo led Xiaoyu into his Laboratory and placed the financial reports on a nearby experiment table.

“I looked at them. They seem fine.”

“If they’re fine, then I don’t need to look. From now on, you can check the company’s financial reports for me.”

Chen Mo wasn’t worried about anyone tampering with the company’s accounts because Ink Girl was monitoring. If anyone tried anything, he would know very clearly.

“How can that be okay?”

“Why not? Now, come help me with something.”

Chen Mo guided Xiaoyu to the experiment table and pulled back the cloth covering it. The Robot that had just been assembled yesterday appeared before Xiaoyu.

Seeing the Robot in front of her, Xiaoyu’s jaw dropped, and she was stunned.

She knew Chen Mo was researching a Robot, but the last time she came, it was just a skeleton. Now, it was fully assembled.

This Robot looked just like the ones in movies, except it didn’t have the cool paint job like in the films.

“Is this the Robot you finished?” Xiaoyu reached out and touched the Robot’s body.

“It’s a semi-finished product. Many parts still need debugging, so I need your help.”

Chen Mo turned on the Robot’s start button himself. The sensors in its eyes and chest immediately lit up with red light.

“What can I do to help?”

Xiaoyu stared intently at the Robot, her heart filled with curiosity.

“It doesn’t know how to walk yet. I need data from human movement, so I’m asking for your help. I plan to collect your movement data and input it into the Robot so it can move freely.”

“Okay,” after thinking for a moment, Xiaoyu nodded. “How do we test it?”

“First, change into this sports tank top.”

Chen Mo handed Xiaoyu the clothes he had bought that morning.

“So that’s why you went shopping this morning.”

Xiaoyu took the bag from Chen Mo, giving him a strange look. After changing into the sports tank top, she walked up to Chen Mo with a red face.

When she looked up and saw Chen Mo’s stunned expression, the blush on Xiaoyu’s face quickly spread to her ears.

At that moment, Xiaoyu had her hair in a high ponytail and was wearing a sports tank top and small sports shorts. Her long, straight legs and flawlessly proportioned figure were displayed before him. If she had abs, it would probably be perfect.

Youthful, energetic, with a subtle wildness in her demeanor amplified, she looked completely different from her usual gentle and intellectual self.

Xiaoyu had a different kind of beauty every time she changed her style of clothing. Chen Mo didn’t know if it was because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

“Really beautiful,” Chen Mo said, admiring her while stroking his chin.

Seeing Chen Mo’s intense gaze, Xiaoyu’s eyes showed shyness.

“Stop looking. Let’s test,” Xiaoyu said, feeling a bit flustered under Chen Mo’s stare. “If you’re not going to test, I’ll go back to work.”

Xiaoyu didn’t dare to look directly into Chen Mo’s eyes, and her heartbeat began to quicken. The two were very close, but they hadn’t taken the final step.

“Okay, testing. I’ll look more when we get home.”

Chen Mo gave a relaxed smile, held Xiaoyu’s hand, and brought over the human movement testing equipment. These instruments were mainly sensors and optical scanners.

Human movement consists of over 200 joints, capable of performing highly complex motions, and these movements are highly coordinated.

In Robot design and intelligent control, human movement is a hot research topic.

Chen Mo placed the sensor headband on Xiaoyu and attached sensors to her various joints. Then he had her stand on the treadmill.

He carried the Robot from the experiment table onto the other treadmill and turned on the sensor data connection.

“Now we’re ready to collect data,” Chen Mo said. “Are you ready?”

“Ready,” Xiaoyu nodded.

“Now try walking a few steps.” After pressing the start button, Chen Mo’s eyes were on the computer screen.

As soon as he finished speaking, Xiaoyu began walking slowly on the treadmill. Data started appearing and extending on the computer screen.

“Stop,” Chen Mo called out to Xiaoyu and looked at the computer screen. “I’ll now send your walking data to the Robot and see how it works.”

After sending the data, the Robot near Xiaoyu started walking. Chen Mo observed the Robot closely. The step length was similar to Xiaoyu’s, but the movements were still mechanical. The limbs moved stiffly without real coordination.

Still, it was much better than before, as this was just the beginning. Having such results was already very good.

“Xiaoyu, keep walking. I’ll sync your data to the Robot in real time,” Chen Mo said as he walked back to the computer and switched to synchronous data.

The moment Xiaoyu started walking, the Robot on the other treadmill also began to walk. Even the head-turning movements were identical, which amazed Xiaoyu.

“Speed up your pace,” Chen Mo said, watching the Robot’s movements.

The Robot had a set of gyroscopes inside that could automatically adjust balance. Plus, Ink Girl could learn and adjust continuously, coordinating the body’s movements. Soon, the Robot’s limbs began moving more naturally, and the motions became much smoother.

“Keep speeding up. Start jogging slowly,” Chen Mo said, his eyes fixed on the continuously extending data on the computer screen.

Hearing Chen Mo’s words, Xiaoyu also sped up and started jogging on the treadmill.

Compared to letting Ink Girl simulate walking on her own, using human movement data for imitation made the Robot’s movements more coordinated and closer to those of a human.

After thirty minutes, Xiaoyu was tired and stopped, panting as she looked at Chen Mo.

“Take a rest,” Chen Mo helped wipe the sweat from Xiaoyu and handed her water. Then he turned his attention to the Robot. “The initial movement data collection was successful. Rest for a bit, and then come see the results of your hard work today.”
