Chapter 87: Timid Jack?
Chapter 87: Timid Jack?
Chen Mo looked at the various parts inside several boxes and grinned.
All these were parts he had asked the workshop fitters at the component factory to make using CNC machines. They were finished today and delivered to him.
Inside these boxes were all the components needed for the robot. Not far from the experimental bench, various device parts were placed there. Just for this robot, there were nearly a thousand parts, big and small.
The main components of the robot were made of carbon aluminum alloy and plastic. These materials were lightweight, which could reduce the robot’s weight and increase its operation time.
He was currently using battery power, so from the initial design, he had to consider the issue of operation time.
Besides various parts and sensors, there were also many micro motors and servo motors. These were all machines used to drive the robot’s joint movements.
After carefully checking the parts in the boxes, Chen Mo took out all the components and began assembling them.
This was a precise task, especially the robot’s two hands, which were the most critical parts, so he chose to start with the hands first.
He was currently working on an assistant robot that needed to help him operate machines and manage the laboratory. This required the robot to have a pair of flexible hands. Among all the parts, the components for the two hands were the most delicate. In robotics, the hand was one of the most difficult structures to replicate.
Slowly getting into the flow, Chen Mo became fully immersed. It wasn’t until Ink Girl reminded him that Xiaoyu had entered his experimental zone that Chen Mo snapped back to reality.
“Did I lose track of time again? It’s off work now. Are you going back now, or will you wait and go back later?” After entering Chen Mo’s laboratory, Xiaoyu looked around.
“Wait a moment. Let me finish assembling the fingers of this hand, then we’ll go back together. It’ll be quick,” Chen Mo said, then continued to focus on the mechanical hand on the experimental bench.
“Are you assembling a robot?”
Xiaoyu looked at the design diagram on the wall, then turned her gaze to the mechanical hand in front of Chen Mo.
“Correct, but this is just the beginning,” Chen Mo said while working. “It will probably take some more time before it’s successful.”
After Chen Mo focused on the hand, Xiaoyu sat on a chair nearby, quietly watching him. She couldn’t help with these tasks; the only help she could offer was not to disturb him.
About fifteen minutes later, Chen Mo finally put down the small screwdriver in his hand. “Okay, let’s go back first. The remaining work can’t be finished all at once.”
“Mm,” Xiaoyu nodded, helped Chen Mo tidy up the laboratory, and then they left, heading back to the villa.
…
Binhai City, Kelly International Hotel.
Jack was preparing to leave the hotel, but he was in a bad mood, his face gloomy. Beside him, Boyle was tormenting his will like an unkillable fly.
It had been three days since they arrived here, and his ears only got a rest when he was sleeping.
“Jack, I found Huaxia quite nice. I’m starting to like it here.”
“Jack, the food we had yesterday was particularly delicious. It makes me want to eat it again.”
“I feel like staying here now, then just sit around and wait to die, hahaha…”
“Jack…”
“Shut up.” Annoyed by the noise, Jack growled at Boyle. “If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll cut out your tongue and shove it up your ass.”
“Alright, don’t be angry. But this place is really fun. It’s not easy to come to Huaxia once; let’s play a few more days…”
Before Boyle could finish, Jack’s fierce glare shut him up, and he closed his mouth awkwardly.
“We move tonight. Hurry up and get ready.”
Jack tucked the pistol into the back of his waist and adjusted his clothes. Ignoring Boyle, he picked up the map and studied it carefully.
Soon after, the two left the hotel.
Outside the villa community where Chen Mo lived, Boyle carefully observed the surroundings, occasionally checking the map.
They had followed a tour group from Southwest Province to Binhai City two days ago. For the past two days, they had been observing the security situation of the villa community.
This was a high-end villa community, and the security was better than in other places. With only two of them, they didn’t dare act rashly.
This operation was to obtain the source code technology of the Smart Assistant from Chen Mo. The mission didn’t allow too many mercenaries to enter Binhai City, as they could easily be discovered, so only the two of them had come.
“Jack, look at that car, it’s really beautiful, a limited edition Lamborghini…”
“You’d better keep quiet, or I might not be able to control myself and shoot you.”
Jack really couldn’t understand why the higher-ups had sent him with this chatterbox to complete this mission. Throughout the journey, his ears had never known peace.
“Alright, I won’t say anything. But what’s the point of watching like this? Just rush into his house, grab him, put a gun to his head, and ask. Isn’t that simpler? You’re just wasting time,” Boyle said disdainfully.
“It’s a miracle you’ve survived this long. Later, I’ll have you teach me how you managed to stay alive.”
Jack said indifferently, then continued to focus his attention on the villa community, occasionally checking the map of the community in his hand, calculating the next steps of the plan.
“Am I wrong? These garbage security measures can be dealt with in no time.”
Boyle looked at the information in his hand; there were a few photos on it, one of Chen Mo, their target for this mission. Suffering from face blindness towards Eastern people, he had to take a few more looks.
“We’re here to get something, not to kill people. Also, this is Huaxia, not the Middle East or Africa, nor Europe. If you alarm the Huaxia government, you can go home for dinner—no one can save you. Before we get the technology, we can’t alert anyone.”
Jack continued to watch the villa community. “I hope you remember, we only have one chance. If the mission fails, I will definitely cut out your tongue and shove it up your ass.”
The mission assigned by the higher-ups was to obtain the technical data of the Legion Ant Company. If they killed Chen Mo before getting the data, their mission would fail, and the consequences would be severe. So he had to be cautious and warn Boyle.
“That’s really disgusting.” Boyle made a disgusted face. “Are we going to act now?”
“Let’s talk about what happens next. After we go in, unless absolutely necessary, no shooting. Firing guns here will bring big trouble. If you alarm the Huaxia government, you’ll die horribly.”
“Got it. It’s always about the Huaxia government. Are they that scary? So timid,” Boyle said impatiently.
“On this land, for people like us, they are that scary. Otherwise, why do you think this place has always been so peaceful while the Middle East is so chaotic? I hope you follow my orders, or I’ll kill you myself without waiting for others to do it. Let’s move.”
Jack put away the map in his hand, looked around, avoided the cameras, walked to the corner of the villa’s wall, and quickly climbed over into the compound.
“Such a hassle, timid Jack,” Boyle muttered, but his movements were not slow. He followed Jack and climbed over the wall into the villa community in no time.
Under the cover of night, the two moved quietly and quickly, approaching the villa where Chen Mo lived.
