Chapter 121: Catching the Mouse
Chapter 121: Catching the Mouse
“To get the Smart Assistant software, we had to get past four obstacles. The first was the security guards, who patrolled every half hour. The second was the surveillance cameras, which were the biggest problem. Inside the building, there were almost no blind spots—everything was covered by cameras.
The third obstacle was entering the building’s server room. There was a password-protected door with Facial Recognition and fingerprint scanning. Only senior engineers from Legion Ant Company could enter the server room. Lastly, to obtain the Smart Assistant Source Code, you needed an authorization password.”
Yeh Tian threw the documents onto the table, his face gloomy.
“This is more complicated than we thought. Getting in without exposing our identities is clearly not possible. The surveillance room is inside the building and has a security door. Ordinary people can’t get in. There’s no way we can enter the building unnoticed and take control of the surveillance. With just the two of us, we don’t have enough people.”
“So, your plan isn’t much use after all,” Mei Huizi said.
“We need to find help,” Yeh Tian replied, not bothered.
“Where would we find help? It’s just the two of us.”
“The person we’re supposed to meet, couldn’t he be our help? I’ll contact headquarters now and have him assist us temporarily. Plus, he knows Binhai City better than we do.” Yeh Tian took out a satellite phone and dialed a number.
At the Island Nation embassy,
Inada Tsunami was watching the news, specifically some reports about Huaxia. Working here required understanding the Huaxia people; otherwise, things could get very troublesome.
Just as he was engrossed, a phone in the drawer rang.
Inada Tsunami raised his eyebrows and quickly took out the phone. Seeing the encrypted numbers on the screen, he hurriedly pulled out a codebook.
After a short while, he deciphered the message and frowned. Something was happening in Binhai City, and they were short on people? They needed assistance?
After thinking for a moment, Inada Tsunami composed a reply and sent it back.
“Headquarters told us to wait two days. They’ll give us an answer then,” Yeh Tian said, looking at the encrypted numbers on his phone before deleting them. “What a hassle. Using kidnapping and threats would be simpler and more direct. Isn’t this just making trouble for no reason?”
“All you think about is kidnapping. Have you ever considered how we’re going to get out of here?” Mei Huizi said coldly.
“Do you think we’re here on vacation?” Yeh Tian snapped angrily. “When headquarters sent us, they said to use any means necessary to bring back the Smart Assistant.”
“Using any means doesn’t mean getting ourselves killed, does it? If you kidnap the Chairman of a major company, do you think you can just walk out of this city? Do you think this is your home?” Mei Huizi retorted icily.
“As long as we’re not caught on the spot, we can escape,” Yeh Tian insisted.
Mei Huizi gave him a cold look and walked back to her room. Watching her retreating figure, Yeh Tian licked his lips, a glint of ambition in his eyes.
Over the next few days, Binhai City remained calm on the surface, with no major incidents. However, in corners unseen by others, undercurrents were stirring.
Inside a bar, under colorful lights and blaring music, countless lost souls swayed slowly, unaware of what they were even dancing to.
On stage, several foreign beauties with blonde hair and blue eyes wore scant bikinis, drawing countless heated gazes. The allure of pole dancing and the numbness of alcohol made people here forget the pressures and worries of the outside world. They shed their disguises, screaming and shouting along with the music.
At the bar entrance, two people walked in, looked around, and slowly made their way inside.
These two looked no different from ordinary people. After entering a private room, they saw a man surrounded by several beautiful women. When the man noticed them, his smile widened.
He took out some money, stuffed it into each woman’s clothing, and sent them all away.
“You’re finally here.”
The man stood up from the sofa, left the private room, and led the two out through the bar’s back door. After walking for fifteen minutes and making several turns, they entered a simple rented house.
“The mice have entered the nest,” a plainclothes officer watching the back door of the venue from an upstairs corner said as soon as the three entered the rented house.
“Stay alert. According to reliable information, the mice might try to steal something tonight,” Li Jizheng said into his earpiece.
“Team leader, should we move in now and catch them?” Tong Yu asked from another vehicle, picking up her earpiece.
“Wait until they come out. Guard all the exits,” Li Jizheng replied before putting down his earpiece.
Ever since he received anonymous information about the identities of the spies, he had been appointed team leader and put in charge of monitoring them.
Recently, the activities of this particular “mouse” in Binhai City had increased, so he had come here to catch it.
They had been watching this mouse for a long time, and in the past couple of days, there had been a lot of movement—a shipment had arrived. Additionally, the two foreigners from the Island Nation were targeting Legion Ant Company, likely planning to steal something from them.
Legion Ant Company was a sensitive enterprise, and the Smart Assistant was something many people coveted. They had heard about the previous incident involving mercenaries.
Inside the venue, the man looked at the two. “My codename is White Mouse. Headquarters told me to assist you. Tell me your plan.”
“Please speak Japanese,” Yeh Tian said with disgust. “This time, we want to enter Legion Ant Company’s server room. Your task is to follow our instructions.”
“What are you trying to get?” the man asked in Japanese.
“That’s none of your business,” Yeh Tian replied disdainfully. “You only need to support us from the outside.”
“If I’m part of the mission, I have the right to know what it’s about. Otherwise, I won’t participate,” the man said indifferently, sitting back on the sofa.
Yeh Tian’s expression darkened, and the atmosphere grew tense. Seeing this, Mei Huizi also sat quietly on the sofa. The room felt strange, with none of the three speaking, lost in their own thoughts.
“Our mission is to get the Smart Assistant,” Yeh Tian said with a dark look, his eyes flashing with malice toward the man.
“Tell me your plan,” the man said without surprise.
Mei Huizi and Yeh Tian then outlined their plan. Unconsciously, the man had taken control of the situation.
“It won’t work,” the man shook his head after hearing Yeh Tian’s explanation. “Getting into Legion Ant Company isn’t as simple as it seems on the surface. If their Smart Assistant software were that easy to obtain, it wouldn’t still be in their hands.”
“How do you know it won’t work if we don’t try?” Yeh Tian’s face hardened.
“Heh, if you try, will you even make it back?” White Mouse sneered. “But since headquarters told me to cooperate with you, I have no choice.”
He then took two backpacks from a hidden compartment and placed them in front of the two. “Why not try my method instead?”
Li Jizheng stared at the rented house, his brow furrowed. It had been a while, and there was still no movement—something felt off.
Just as he was growing suspicious, there was suddenly activity inside the house. Three people emerged, each carrying a backpack.
“All teams, prepare to move,” Li Jizheng said, his expression turning serious.
Hearing this, everyone perked up.
