“Your mother is right.” His father chimed in from the side.
“Dad, Mom, there’s no hurry about this. Please don’t be like this. Xiaoyu and I have our own plans.” Chen Mo said urgently. Otherwise, once they returned, they might send his aunt over to propose marriage.
Not long after, Xiaoyu and Aunt Zhen came out together carrying a fruit platter, though Xiaoyu’s face was still slightly flushed. It was unclear what Aunt Zhen had said to her.
It wasn’t until bedtime that Chen Mo and Xiaoyu finally breathed a sigh of relief. After arranging rooms for his parents and Aunt Zhen, they returned to their own room.
The next morning, the five of them sat around the dining table eating breakfast.
“Xiao Mo, last night, we asked everything we needed to ask. We learned what we needed to know. Your mother and I discussed it all night and decided to go home in a couple of days.” Father Chen spoke up.
“Why so soon? Won’t you stay here?” Chen Mo asked quickly.
Mother Chen laughed. “We’re not used to staying here. After sleeping on that soft bed last night, our backs and bodies ache. Home is more comfortable. We’ll leave the space to you and Xiaoyu, so you can spend more time together.” Mother Chen smiled as she put some food into Xiaoyu’s bowl. “Xiaoyu, if Xiao Mo ever bullies you, just call me. I’ll come immediately to teach him a lesson.”

“Don’t say anything. Your father and I have decided. We’re not used to life in the city.” Just as Chen Mo started to speak, she interrupted him. “Besides, you have work, and you’ve grown up. You need some space. Your father and I will go back and buy a house. We’ll also build a new house at home. You don’t need to worry about us. Remember to get along well with Xiaoyu.”
“Alright.” Chen Mo smiled wryly. “Buy one more set, as a gift for Aunt Zhen, so you have company. I’ll transfer the money to your account.” He knew that once his mom made a decision, he couldn’t dissuade her.
