Chapter 244: Little Sister Strikes
Chapter 244: Little Sister Strikes
Having completed the Second Stage, Lu Xin already felt quite reassured.
Now with his family by his side, this reassuring feeling became even clearer.
Especially since he hadn’t seen his family in several days, which put him in an especially good mood. He wasn’t the type to express his emotions through words. He simply, instinctively, felt that his body now seemed filled with strength…
He moved faster and faster, scaling buildings, power lines, and countless overturned vehicles like a spider. His figure flickered in and out of shadows, appearing under the Crimson Moon, and soon drew close to the East Sea Grand Hotel.
Looking up, the Red-Cloaked Psychic Monster, standing even taller than the hotel itself, loomed silently beside the building.
The closer he got, the more immense the red silhouette felt.
And the Psychic Energy forming its body felt like twisted, solidified power.
Merely by standing there, it altered the surrounding air, with chilling winds whipping around violently.
At this moment, from the plaza to the west, flower beds, and residential buildings, countless diverse Psychic Entities crawled toward it.
Some had three heads—one crying, one laughing, and the other watching the other two with interest. Some had a woman’s torso but sprouted two male bodies from her sides, shrieking in agony.
These Monsters were remnants from earlier capture missions. Now, they crawled toward the Red Apostle.
Upon reaching the giant, they slithered beneath its robe and into its pant legs until they disappeared inside. The Red Apostle’s Psychic Energy solidified further, emitting unsettling ripples, while the smaller entities vanished without a trace.
…
“A Psychic Entity this massive… won’t be easy to deal with…”
Lu Xin let out a sigh. He turned to Little Sister, who was clinging to his hand, and said, “Can you let go now?”
Since her appearance moments ago, Little Sister had been hanging from his arm like a koala.
At his words, she promptly rolled her eyes and held on even tighter:
“No. I need to protect you.”
“This isn’t about protection right now. We have work to do.”
Lu Xin tilted his head to stare up at the gargantuan Red-Cloaked Psyonic Monster—so tall he had to crane his neck at this proximity. He told Little Sister, “It’s too huge. Could you… contaminate its body like you did before?”
Little Sister blinked, turning astonished eyes toward Lu Xin. “Are you… lending me your power?”
Lu Xin nodded. “You’re my sister. What’s there to lend? It’s yours.”
An expression of thrilled surprise flashed across Little Sister’s unsettlingly pale face. She gave a firm nod and scampered swiftly forward.
Lu Xin could feel that, even as she advanced, a subtle connection to him remained.
Because his mind was calm, and because he trusted Little Sister completely, something from within him seemed to pour into her. It made her tiny form shimmer with unnatural clarity and brilliance amidst the surrounding Chaos.
Whoosh… Whoosh… Whoosh!
She accelerated, weaving through countless Psychic Entities—trampling over some, twisting and contorting her body to dodge the claws and Tentacles groping for her, closing in on the towering Red Cloak.
“Hee hee… such a cute big red doll!”
She chirped happily as she reached a point merely three or four meters from the colossal scarlet-robed Monster.
Springing from the ground, she threw herself at the Red Apostle.
The immense Psyonic Entity currently stood over 120 meters tall, impossibly imposing.
Its foot alone was likely over ten meters long and two to three meters wide.
Compared to it, Little Sister’s petite body was no larger than a grain of rice.
Thump!
The grain struck the robe of the Red-Cloaked Monster, landing like a speck of white dust.
However, the instant her tiny form touched it, a visible ripple of distortion—like a wave—spread across the point of contact. Suddenly, wherever her two small hands grasped, the previously smooth robe developed a coarse and uneven texture.
Harsh, stitch-like scars began to form and spread like cracks across its form.
This Red-Cloaked Psyonic Monster, despite undeath, retained its lifelike appearance. Built entirely of Psychic Energy, its robe shone smooth and sleek as new, gleaming like a mirror beneath the crimson moon, radiating an uncanny beauty.
Now, that beauty was being Contaminated.
Its surface darkened and roughened like old burlap—stitched together from torn pieces.
Huuuummm…
The Monster seemed to sense Little Sister’s presence at last.
Slowly, the motionless titan lowered its head. Its hollow, indifferent eyes fixed upon her.
Gurgle…
An unsettling vibration radiated from it, pulsing outward in all directions.
Little Sister, naturally, was well within its range.
Shhhhk!
Within the wave’s aura, Little Sister’s body instantly warped like a crumpled Doll.
Giggle…
But the crumpled Little Sister let out a chilling, almost adorable giggle.
In the next instant, she suddenly folded herself even more severely, then her body shattered into numerous pieces. Each fragment seemed to possess its own life, crawling across the body of the Red Cloak monster, expanding her range for potential “embraces.”
The Red Cloak monster’s eyes slowly focused, breathing a hint of vitality into its previously dull face.
“Hmmm…”
Suddenly, an incredibly dense, tightly packed wave of sound emanated from it. An invisible force of Psychic Energy radiated outward.
Everything surrounding its body was violently flung away, which included many Psychic Entities that had just charged to its vicinity. Like fleas, they were scattered high into the air—some flew seven or eight meters, others sailed more than ten meters…
Little Sister flew over thirty meters, her scattered pieces snapping back together mid-air before she landed on her bottom with a solid thump.
She seemed dazed by the fall, sitting there stunned for a while.
Only then did she react, becoming even angrier. She scrambled back up and charged forward furiously once more.
……
……
“Little Sister seemed powerless against this monster.”
As he watched his ferocious yet adorable sister charge towards the Psychic Entity again,
Lu Xin was riding the outdoor elevator of the East Sea Grand Hotel, ascending steadily upwards.
Through the glass walls of the elevator, he could see that Little Sister had successfully contaminated a significant portion of the monster earlier. However, when the monster repelled her, all the contaminated areas began to ripple like flowing water undergoing a subtle shift.
Every distorted section reverted back to its original state, as if Little Sister’s efforts had been futile.
This was different from dealing with the monster near the Southern Wall of Satellite City No.2.
“After all, Little Sister is still young…”
Mother covered her mouth with a light, almost gleeful laugh: “Look how genuinely delighted she seems getting knocked away…”
“……”
Lu Xin was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
He reached the top floor via the elevator. Mother cast a curious glance towards Doll’s Safe House before they all proceeded down the corridor to the security staircase at the end. Ascending it, they emerged onto the roof and walked to the edge, gazing out at the colossal Psychic Entity.
Even standing atop the building, they were only level with the creature’s chest.
Looking up, the monster’s face came into view, unnervingly real—pale and hollow.
“Lone Soldier, copy?”
A slightly anxious voice rose from the earpiece near Han Bing’s left ear on the Glasses.
“Oh, copy that.”
Lu Xin hurriedly explained: “I was just in the elevator, and the signal was probably disrupted by the proximity to the monster…”
“The elevator…”
Han Bing took a few seconds to mentally process the absurdity of Lu Xin taking an elevator at a time like this.
Then, straining to maintain her professional calm, she continued: “The Special Dispatch Team is withdrawing. Should I send you their reconnaissance report?”
Lu Xin pondered briefly. “Sending it now won’t work; I don’t have time to review it. Please analyze it for me…”
“My most pressing question right now is the fundamental nature of this Spiritual Entity. I just witnessed it possessing significant resistance to Contamination in other forms… she clearly contaminated part of it earlier, but it recovered almost immediately.”
“Contamination…”
Han Bing wasn’t entirely clear why Lu Xin had introduced such an unusual question.
Could a Psychic Entity even be contaminated?
“Now relaying Professor Chen’s analysis…”
Han Bing’s voice resumed promptly.
It seemed her role was now primarily coordination; the information analysis was now handled by others.
“A Psychic Entity can be contaminated if the Contamination originates from an entity of higher Psychic Magnitude, or possesses a Contamination nature that inherently counters or overwhelms it. However, once the contaminated subject’s Psychic Magnitude exceeds a critical threshold, it can actively resist and expel the Contamination through constant self-repair, thereby maintaining its own stability.”
“So that’s why Little Sister couldn’t gain the upper hand over this Entity?”
Lu Xin pinched the arm of his Glasses and turned towards Mother: “Any ideas?”
Mother was thoughtfully observing the Psychic Entity. She turned back to Lu Xin with a soft, knowing laugh. “Oh, I can see quite a few issues.”
“But the most immediate one is…”
She then turned directly to Lu Xin, her laughter tinged with amusement: “You’re pinching your earpiece, not the microphone…”
“So, everything you just said to me, they’ve all heard it, you know…”
“……”
“Uh… this…”
Lu Xin froze for a second, subconsciously pulling off his Glasses to look before sheepishly putting them back on. He chuckled softly. “Heard is heard then…”
“After all, my family is real!”
