Chapter 71: Elimination
Chapter 71: Elimination
Late at night, south of Xinlu City.
Five dark figures leaped continuously along walls and rooftops, heading toward the predetermined target location.
One of them, a woman with a graceful figure, said, “Brother Lin, do you think Ghost Fist’s information is accurate this time?”
The leader was a tall man with thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a face etched with firm determination like chiseled stone. Hearing the woman’s question, he replied, “It should be fine. Over the past two months, relying on the intelligence he provided, we’ve eliminated three groups of spies sent by Dìyù Gate.”
Though they said “eliminated,” often when they arrived at the scene, only one or two survivors were left.
At the mention of the name Ghost Fist, a complex look appeared in the eyes of all five present.
Their organization was the Shadow Corps, founded by one of the three Patrol Superintendents, Zhu Yuwen.
The purpose of this organization was to gather masters of various martial arts and even Dao Arts, to counter powerful underworld organizations like Dìyù Gate and other high-level forces on the New Continent, where no major sects existed.
The five people before them were members of the Shadow Corps in Xinlu. Although Zhu Yuwen created the Shadow Corps to oppose the high-level forces of various major factions, the organization was still too new and lacked deep foundations. As a result, they were often at a disadvantage when facing Dìyù Gate, which was allied with another Patrol Superintendent, Ye Ankang.
The situation in Xinlu was similar. Though they had tried several times to change the Sea Dragon Gang’s monopoly and take a share of the abundant profits, they were consistently hindered by the presence of Dìyù Gate.
But everything changed due to a series of fierce battles more than two months ago.
Under Ghost Fist’s successive attacks, the Sea Dragon Gang was utterly defeated. What shocked Lin Ganghao, the head of the Shadow Corps in Xinlu, even more was that Ghost Fist single-handedly killed Blood Rakshasa and her junior brother.
Seizing this opportunity, the Shadow Corps took in the desperate Long Feiyang and reshuffled the gang forces in Xinlu.
Just as they were worried about possible retaliation from Dìyù Gate, Ghost Fist had already eliminated the second wave of two spies sent by Dìyù Gate and delivered the news to Lin Ganghao’s desk.
Today marked the fourth wave of arrivals from Dìyù Gate.
Beside the leader Lin Ganghao, another young man with a round face said, “Brother Lin, I heard Dìyù Gate’s rule is ‘three strikes and you’re out.’ If they fail this time, including the incident with Blood Rakshasa, that makes five failures. So, for at least a year or two, they probably won’t have any plans for Xinlu.”
The woman with the graceful figure added, “Yes, I heard Dìyù Gate is clashing with forces under Ye Ankang. Let’s hope this is Dìyù Gate’s last move against Xinlu.”
“It’s a pity we still haven’t figured out Ghost Fist’s identity. If we could recruit him into the Shadow Corps, that would be great.”
All five showed expressions of deep agreement. Over the past two months, they had witnessed Ghost Fist’s abilities multiple times—whether in combat, intelligence, or stealth—all of which were top-tier levels they had never seen before.
However, when it came to recruiting Ghost Fist into the Shadow Corps, Lin Ganghao shook his head. “It’s probably not possible. You’ve seen Ghost Fist’s methods. Whether at the scene or in his killing techniques, everything is clean and efficient, leaving no traces.
To be honest, among the people I know, some might have higher martial skills than Ghost Fist, but none can match his techniques. Probably only the most elite secret forces or organizations we’ve never even heard of have such capabilities.”
The woman exclaimed in surprise, “Brother Lin, are you saying Ghost Fist might be from the Imperial Court?”
“Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he was before, or maybe not now.” Lin Ganghao shook his head. “It’s hard to say. In any case, he doesn’t seem hostile toward us. He wants to deal with Dìyù Gate and does need some help from us, so it’s a mutual arrangement.”
At that moment, a low cry sounded.
A white figure suddenly appeared before the five. It first appeared over thirty meters away, but in the blink of an eye, it was less than ten meters from them.
Clad in a white gauze dress, it was a graceful yet cold female form, rushing toward them like a female ghost. Lin Ganghao could clearly see the beautiful but expressionless face, staring at them like a Jiangshi.
“Spread out…”
“Dìyù Gate!”
All five present were well-trained professionals. Almost instantly after the white-clad woman appeared, they scattered, drew their weapons, and prepared to fight. Swords, spears, and staffs, all coordinated through countless previous drills, blocked the woman’s path from various angles.
Yet, even with such readiness, a series of clattering sounds rang out. Their weapons were knocked aside, and they couldn’t even see how the white figure slipped past them.
‘So strong!’
The vast difference in strength made Lin Ganghao and the others’ attempts to stop her seem hopeless. But just as they expected a tough battle, the fight they imagined didn’t happen.
In the next blink, the white figure flashed and vanished into the night.
For some reason, that retreating figure gave Lin Ganghao a sense of panic.
The graceful woman beside him asked doubtfully, “Was that… Dìyù Gate’s White Wraith? She seemed to be fleeing?”
Could it be that White Wraith, the Soul-hooking Envoy of Dìyù Gate who had effortlessly repelled them, was actually running away? The five members of the Shadow Corps felt disoriented.
A few seconds later, another black figure flashed by, and a tall man wearing a white mask appeared before them.
Ghost Fist.
Was White Wraith fleeing from Ghost Fist’s pursuit?
Looking at the tall figure before them, Lin Ganghao and the others felt both admiration and fear.
“Sir Ghost Fist… are you…”
Shh… Ghost Fist made a silencing gesture and said in a rough, sandpaper-like voice, “She’s still here. Don’t speak.”
Then he threw a package into Lin Ganghao’s arms. “Antidote.” Though unsure when they had been poisoned, Lin Ganghao followed the order, distributed the antidote, and took it himself.
Ghost Fist seemed to notice their confusion about why he had the antidote and finally added, “Found it on his companion.”
Hearing this, it was clear that White Wraith’s companion had already been killed.
