Chapter 498: Lawyer’s Letter Warning

“The hostage’s dead by my hand.”

Fang Cheng pointed at her with his fingers. “Surrender or not? If not, I’ll take you out too.”

This bear-style rescue left Erica completely stunned.

The bastard actually killed the hostage and still demanded her surrender?

Though fear flashed in Erica’s eyes when facing Fang Cheng, she remained devout believer of Gates of Heaven – the word “surrender” simply didn’t exist in her dictionary.

Besides, the bald man was watching nearby. Surrendering now would mark her as traitor to Gates of Heaven.

Erica shot Fang Cheng meaningful gaze, signaling him to break screen before questioning.

Fang Cheng refused sternly: “Not interested in you. Save your seduction tricks.”

Erica: “……”

Bang!

Gunfire erupted behind her.

The shot didn’t come from Victor but from Julia who’d stayed quiet until now.

Bullet struck back of Erica’s head, splattering blood.

Still under effects of ‘Divine’ serum, Erica survived shot.

She whirled around shrieking: “Julia! You traitorous—”

Ye Yuqing seized moment to charge forward. Her Giant Sword swept sideways, cutting Erica’s body at waist.

Two severed halves crashed to ground. Instead of instant death, Erica screamed while struggling as black flames consumed wounds.

On screen, bald man watched expressionlessly.

Clearly neither Fang Cheng nor Ye Yuqing got poisoned.

Though bald man had prepared mentally, seeing three Divine serum-enhanced warriors defeated so easily still shocked him.

Blood Emperor’s genuine power surpassed even documents’ records.

Oli had nearly reached ace level yet got eliminated effortlessly.

Such experiment results would never satisfy Mr.Tony and Dr.X.

Bald man dared linger no longer. Even half city’s distance felt unsafe – who knew if these monsters possessed tracking ability?

He cast final deep glance at Julia before switching off screen. Grabbing recorded video file, he rose to leave.

Only consolation: After witnessing Blood Emperor’s power firsthand, Gates of Heaven would likely retreat rather than keep provoking him.

Thus bald man would never risk appearing before Fang Cheng again.

As bald man withdrew decisively, Little Spider whom Fang Cheng shot dead suddenly bounced up from ground.

“Hey!”

He yanked steel needles from forehead, complaining loudly: “We’re teammates! How could you kill me?”

Fang Cheng retorted, “You’re still alive, aren’t you?”

During the safety agency meeting, Little Spider had pissed off Oli and got taken out, only to revive instantly.

Fang Cheng figured the guy must have some resurrection ability like himself, which explained why he’d eliminated him without hesitation.

If wrong, no big deal – he’d just buy Little Spider a fancier coffin.

“Even surviving scared my poor heart!” Little Spider complained, clutching his chest. “I need therapy! Do you know how pricey San Francisco shrinks are? I’ll go broke!”

“Skip the therapist hassle.”

Fang Cheng grinned. “Let me kill you instead. Doctor bills saved – what a bargain.”

Remembering Fang Cheng’s identity, Little Spider shuddered and raised his hands. “Wait! My health insurance gives medical discounts!”

Ignoring him, Fang Cheng headed toward Jack and Erica’s corpses. Might as well loot them.

From the black giant, he extracted ‘Giant Bloodline’ ability. He’d hoped for a connection to the green giant’s power, but it turned out to be a letdown.

Erica yielded ‘Petrifying Demon Eye’ – stone-making vision.

Plus 12 extra lives from both bodies, bringing his total lives to 407.

Ye Yuqing approached as he finished looting. “That punchable guy’s dying.”

She meant Victor.

Victor, the magician, and Little Spider had all been dosed with slow-acting poison. While Little Spider bounced around, the other two looked ready to croak.

Victor managed a weak smile as Fang Cheng approached. “Always wanted to hear your last words… Never thought I’d be giving mine.”

Fang Cheng jabbed a finger into Victor’s arm. “Keep talking.”

“No family… Parents gone… Take my savings but give me decent funeral – good coffin, nice cemetery plot.” Victor winced through needle-like pain. “My home PC’s got… special collections. Yours if wanted.”

Little Spider threw himself at the dying man. “Victor! My friend! Don’t go!”

Touched, Victor rasped, “You’re… my friend too.”

“Then can I have your stuff?” Little Spider blinked innocently.

Victor somehow mustered strength to slug him. “Screw you! Wait…” He stared at his suddenly steady fist. The agony had vanished.

Fang Cheng withdrew his blood-coated finger. “Keep your cash. Just email me those collections later.”

Realization dawned on Victor as he sprang up, cured.

Fang Cheng repeated the blood transfusion trick on the magician, flushing toxins despite different blood types – his crimson fluid adapted to any type.

“Thanks, Blood Emperor.” The revived magician bowed.

Fang Cheng simply smirked.

Rescuing these two wasn’t out of kindness, but because they were FBI and IRS agents.

His identity had been exposed, and saving them served as goodwill gestures to both law enforcement agencies.

This goodwill would prevent the North American government from making misjudgments.

Fang Cheng still needed to chase the bald man and couldn’t afford government interference later.

After handling urgent matters, all eyes turned to Julia.

She’d clearly been the Gates of Heaven’s mole moments earlier, even aiming a handgun at the magician.

Her sudden betrayal now made everyone question her motives.

Facing suspicious gazes, Julia dropped her pistol and smiled. “Ever heard of S.H.I.E.L.D.?”

Victor looked startled. “You’re from S.H.I.E.L.D.?”

Others showed similar surprise—this movie organization actually existed?

Julia clarified, “I work for an S.H.I.E.L.D.-like group infiltrating the Gates of Heaven.”

“What’s it called?”

“Also S.H.I.E.L.D.”

“Expect copyright lawsuits?” Little Spider quipped. Victor shrugged—truth would surface during interrogation anyway.

Fang Cheng cut in coldly, “I don’t buy your mole story.”

Julia remained calm. “Check with my superiors.”

“No need.” Fang Cheng approached her. “I’ll verify it myself.”

Victor tried mediating, “Fang Cheng, she might be serious—”

“Quiet.”

“Uh…” Victor awkwardly glanced at Little Spider and the magician.

Little Spider whistled while examining his gloves. The magician studied his cards intently—none dared oppose the man who’d defeated the Blood Queen.

Fang Cheng loomed over Julia, invisible aura pressing down.

“I’m telling truth!” Her calm facade cracked, pulse racing as legs trembled. “Department of Homeland Security’s too slow—that’s why government made secret S.H.I.E.L.D.! I had to threaten magician to maintain cover!”

“If we’d lost,” Fang Cheng demanded, “would you’ve killed magician to keep spying?”

The card-sharper glared. Julia opened her mouth—

“Deny it,” Fang Cheng added, “and I’ll execute you now.”

Julia shut up, mentally cursing. He wasn’t wrong—had their battle against Oli failed, she’d have eliminated witnesses.

“Traitors die.” Fang Cheng gripped her shoulder. “But I spare women. This is your chance.”

Misinterpreting, Julia thrust out her chest, tongue tracing lips. “I’ll… grasp this opportunity thoroughly.” Her hands formed suggestive motions.

Fang Cheng froze.

A dagger-sharp gaze pierced his back—undoubtedly Ye Yuqing’s.
