Chapter 420: Shocking Big Brother for an Entire Year
Chapter 420: Shocking Big Brother for an Entire Year
The monsters of Iron Fortress maintained properties in Mechanical City, with the Ghost Lord possessing an entire palace he never inhabited.
After entering the city, Fang Cheng’s group moved into the Uka family’s property – a garden-equipped apartment with ample space.
Numerous rooms in the apartment allowed complete freedom in choosing accommodations.
Fang Cheng randomly selected a wall-adjacent room featuring a balcony overlooking the garden.
This choice inadvertently sparked competition for the neighboring room.
Proximity to Fang Cheng meant more than simple closeness – it offered convenient opportunities for nighttime activities requiring discretion.
Ye Yuqing declared first: “This room’s mine.”
She dashed inside with her luggage before others could react.
Within seconds, she stormed back out demanding: “Whose stuff is this here?”
Despite her speed, someone had beaten her to claiming the space.
When no one responded, Ye Yuqing rolled up her sleeves. “Abandoned luggage gets tossed!”
“That’s mine!”
Nangong Saye reluctantly identified herself, unprepared for such shameless tactics.
Seeing her rival emerge, Ye Yuqing intensified: “Remove your things. I’m taking this room.”
“On what grounds?”
“You picking a fight?”
“You started this nonsense!”
As their quarrel escalated, Sato Mai intervened: “Let’s decide by lottery.”
Though watching them fight amused her, Sato Mai knew victory for either wouldn’t benefit her or the other girls. She remained determined to navigate this romantic competition through wit.
The suggestion gained traction, with both Takeda Masumi and Uka Qingxue joining the draw.
Kamikawa Takumi observed wryly.
He maintained multiple female companions but kept them strictly separated to avoid apocalyptic confrontations. These girls openly acknowledged Fang Cheng’s promiscuity yet competed rather than demanding commitment – a dynamic he couldn’t comprehend.
“How’d you manage this? Any experience to share?”
Kamikawa pressed Fang Cheng, hoping for tips to reduce drama among his lovers.
“How?”
Fang Cheng tapped his cheek. “Through charm, probably.”
“More like through audacity,” Kamikawa scoffed. “Never realized you were this brazen.”
“Your limited understanding shows,” Fang Cheng countered. “Sufficient charm outweighs wandering eyes.”
Kamikawa Takumi was unconvinced: “You’re the ignorant one. The more charm someone has, the stronger their partner’s possessiveness becomes.”
After arguing briefly with neither side conceding, they gave up the topic.
Fang Cheng noticed Minamoto Karei’s gaze and asked: “You claim to have many female admirers yourself, yet you demand my devotion?”
Kamikawa Takumi flashed a knowing masculine grin, then suddenly stiffened as sharp needles seemed to pierce his back.
Seeing Fang Cheng’s expectant look, he realized the trap.
You dare scheme against me!
He cleared his throat and announced loudly: “True, I had many relationships before. But after meeting Karei, I knew she’s worth dedicating my life to. I cut all ties with other women immediately.”
Minamoto Karei’s gaze softened. She cared not for his past, only their shared future.
The piercing stare vanished, letting Kamikawa Takumi exhale quietly.
Close call.
Fang Cheng sighed inwardly – his brother-in-law had escaped too easily.
Not one to take defeat, Kamikawa Takumi countered: “I keep distance from women for my beloved. Can you?”
Fang Cheng shook his head: “No.”
“You’d claim all these girls for yourself?”
“Exactly. I want them all.”
“Hah!” Kamikawa Takumi whipped out his phone. “You’re finished.”
He’d been secretly recording to trap Fang Cheng into that admission.
“Promise to stay away from other girls, and I’ll delete this.” He waved the device. “Or I’ll play it publicly. You’ll lose them all.”
“Hypocrite! You kept multiple women but demand my exclusivity?”
Fang Cheng shrugged. “Play it then. Otherwise you’re no man.”
“Seriously?” Kamikawa Takumi blinked. Any girl hearing this would dump him instantly.
Fang Cheng jutted his chin toward the crowd. “Do it or be a small dog.”
“Fine!” Kamikawa Takumi raised the phone. “Everyone! Listen carefully – three, two…”
Girls drawing lots turned curiously.
He’d expected Fang Cheng to stop him during the countdown. Yet the young man just watched calmly as the recording played.
“I keep my distance from other women for my beloved. Can you do the same?”
“Can’t.”
“You brat! With so many girls, you actually want them all?”
“Yep. You guessed right – I’m taking everyone.”
The conversation rang clearly from the phone. Kamikawa Takumi realized too late to stop it.
_Sorry, kid!_
He hadn’t expected things to spiral like this. A storm was coming.
Yet when the recording finished, the girls just stared at him blankly, completely unbothered.
Kamikawa Takumi blinked. Couldn’t they recognize Fang Cheng’s voice?
“Brother!”
Kanzaki Rin crossed her arms. “What’s the point of playing this?”
He pointed at the device. “Didn’t you hear what Fang Cheng said?”
“We’re not deaf.”
“He said he wants them all!”
“And?”
Kamikawa Takumi’s jaw hit the floor. After such shameless words, they asked “and”?
Why weren’t they furious about Fang Cheng two-timing them?
The girls calmly resumed drawing lots, ignoring his bewildered expression.
Fang Cheng’s “I want them all” declaration had been repeated so often, they’d built immunity. Everyone treated it as empty daydreaming – bringing it up now was pointless.
The anticlimax left big brother stunned for a full year. Fang Cheng strolled over and patted his shoulder.
“See? Strong charm’s a curse. Can’t help it.” Humming, Fang Cheng walked off.
Kamikawa Takumi watched him go, genuinely questioning reality. Could charm really excuse playboy behavior? Maybe he should try…
Minamoto Karei yanked his ear. “Thinking of copying him?”
“Misunderstanding, Karei! I’m outraged by that punk’s shamelessness!”
While others picked rooms, Fang Cheng stood before third-floor floor-to-ceiling windows, observing Mechanical City’s glittering downtown.
Even this rotting city had luxury districts where rulers partied endlessly. Meanwhile, workers slaved in factories and farms along his route.
Last visit was brief. Now settling here, he properly studied the Pyramid-shaped society worse than Area 11’s – a slave state in all but name.
Bottom layer: laborers without freedom, education, or possessions. Daily gunfire marked another slave’s death.
Middle: freemen with money but confined here, barred from politics.
Top: privileged “citizens” – ruling families’ descendants. Monsters enjoyed special status too, since Iron Fortress nominally governed.
Now Fang Cheng understood Kanzaki Rin’s drive to seize political power. These rulers lured people with freedom slogans, then enslaved them. No modern-educated person could tolerate this.
“Here.” Kanzaki Rin offered tea.
Fang Cheng took the cup, capturing her hand.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, sensing his mood.
“Nothing.” He gazed at the night scenery. “Do it. I’ll back you building this into a proper home.”
However badly she governed post-coup, it’d beat slavery. At least they’d import better systems, freeing workers. Mechanical City’s anti-human rulers refused progress – extinction awaited them.
Kanzaki Rin nodded at the window. “I will. Trust me.”
