Chapter 198: Hahaha, Didn’t See This Coming?
Chapter 198: Hahaha, Didn’t See This Coming?
As two massive pig hooves crashed down, Fang Cheng learned firsthand the meaning of War Trampled.
The ground within a hundred-meter radius split into countless cracks radiating from Otsutai’s hoofprints, resembling drought-stricken land. Every object in the area – including Fang Cheng – was violently hurled skyward.
He couldn’t resist the upward force. His Blood Combat Suit fractured from the impact, and internal injuries bloomed across his organs. If ordinary humans had been caught in this devastation, they’d have been pulverized instantly.
Otsutai charged again despite his mountain-like bulk, his speed belying his size.
DANGER!
Heart Awareness screamed through Fang Cheng’s nerves.
Already healed and with his Blood Combat Suit restored, Fang Cheng hurled a spike into a distant wall and yanked himself to safety. Otsutai thundered past, reducing everything in his wake to rubble.
“Hey, lardbutt! Special delivery!”
A drone zipped overhead as Ye Yuqing’s voice crackled through comms. The cluster munitions – one of only two that Kanzaki Rin had hoarded – split midair, scattering hundreds of bomblets.
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!
Fire engulfed Otsutai’s hulking frame. When the smoke cleared, the boar-demon stood unharmed amid freshly scorched craters.
“You’ve gotta be joking!” Ye Yuqing shrieked.
Otsutai’s piggish eyes gleamed with unmistakable mockery.
Mountain God’s Protection.
This spell stemmed from legends claiming Otsutai’s skin repelled blades and guns, surviving even lightning strikes. Now in his true form, the demon became a living war machine – ordinary weapons bounced off him like raindrops. Only tank-busting armor-piercers might pierce his defenses.
Paradoxically, Fang Cheng felt calmer facing this monstrosity. Otsutai’s human form lacked raw power but proved trickier to fight. This gigantic incarnation? Its weaknesses glared like neon signs.
“Kanzaki! The dark Bible!”
His shout carried across the battlefield where Kanzaki Rin was methodically dismantling Nishitani Kyohei with precise ammunition expenditure. Without hesitation, she whipped out the leather-bound tome and flung it toward him.
A blood-colored bat suddenly flew over, biting into the dark Bible. The bat then swelled and exploded, completely destroying the scripture.
“Hahahaha!”
Covered in dust, Nishitani Kyohei mocked Fang Cheng from afar: “Didn’t expect this, did you? Your stuff’s been wrecked by me!”
Though unsure why Fang Cheng wanted the black Bible, destroying it seemed safe.
_Calling me an idiot? You’re the fools tossing things carelessly on the battlefield._
Instead of anger, Fang Cheng and Kanzaki Rin stared at Nishitani like he was mentally challenged.
The shattered dark Bible abruptly reappeared in Fang Cheng’s hands moments later.
Had Nishitani actually destroyed this cursed scripture, Fang Cheng would’ve thanked him.
But nobody could destroy it – not even Fang Cheng himself. Like his motorcycle that always got stolen, the dark Bible defied logic.
Nishitani’s grin froze. “Impossible…”
Kanzaki Rin’s bullet blew his skull open before he finished.
Fang Cheng ignored the dead fool as Otsutai charged again with earthquake-like force.
“Takeda! Drones!”
Fang Cheng yelled at Takeda Masumi floating bulletless in the air. He flipped open the dark Bible and cast the Word Spirit Technique at the charging beast.
“Paradise!”
He used his strongest spell immediately.
As he cast it, cold dread crept through Fang Cheng’s chest – faint whispers hissed in his ears.
Otsutai’s eyes glazed momentarily before clearing. The demigod’s charge didn’t slow.
_Paradise isn’t foolproof – depends on the target’s willpower._
A half-demon demigod’s mental powers dwarfed even Archbishop Mizumata Doi’s abilities.
Yet Otsutai still hesitated – for one precious second.
Fang Cheng tossed the Bible aside and Spider-Man leaped away.
Otsutai’s charge demolished another building but hit nothing else.
Takeda Masumi seized drone controls through her privileges. Only one cluster munition remained in the bulletless machines.
“Fire when I say!” Fang Cheng shouted while dodging. The destroyed Bible reappeared in his hands as he reopened it.
_If the strongest spell failed, maybe weaker ones could surprise._
Otsutai turned for another charge.
Fang Cheng ignored the crushing pressure, laser-focused on the beast’s hooves.
_One shot. Miss, and I’m roadkill._
The ground shook as the mountain-sized demigod accelerated.
“Now!”
Takeda Masumi fired the last cluster munition.
Otsutai didn’t dodge. Hundreds of bomblets exploded around it.
_Now!_
Using the explosion’s blinding flames as cover, Fang Cheng rapid-fired spells:
“Collapse!”
“Collapse!”
“Collapse!”
…
Two pits swallowed Otsutai’s front hooves. Blinded by fire, the beast crashed face-first into dirt, shaking the earth.
_Last time taught it to watch for pits. But cluster bombs make great distractions._
Fang Cheng entered Overload Mode. Three short-distance dashes put him atop Otsutai’s head.
