Chapter 17: Perfect Coordination
Chapter 17: Perfect Coordination
Seeing Fang Cheng and Kanzaki Rin arguing, Yagawa Ryouka immediately turned to flee—she had no intention of fighting these brats.
As she bolted from the kitchen into the living room, a dining table hurtled toward her with a whoosh.
Trapped, Yagawa Ryouka shielded her head with her arm.
The table slammed into her, hurling her backward into the living room.
Fang Cheng vaulted out of the kitchen after tossing the table. He lunged into the living room and swung a punch over the table’s surface.
His fist smashed through the thick wood with a crack, striking Yagawa Ryouka’s shoulder in a spray of splinters.
She spun through the air and crashed into the sofa, flipping it over.
Fang Cheng yanked his arm free from the shattered table and charged forward.
The fallen sofa abruptly launched itself at him.
He raised his arm to block, but the impact shoved him back two steps.
Yagawa Ryouka rose, her appearance now grotesque.
Her pupils burned crimson, the whites of her eyes pitch-black. Twin fangs jutted from her mouth, and her nails lengthened into claws.
The once-cute face now bulged with squirming veins beneath her skin, resembling writhing insects.

Now she truly looked like a vampire.
Fang Cheng gaped. “She can transform?!”
Kanzaki Rin sprinted from the kitchen and snapped, “Watch out—she’s raging!”
“No kidding! How about useful info? Like what changes when she transforms?”
“Dunno.”
“Useless!”
Yagawa Ryouka’s shoulder—nearly dislocated by Fang Cheng’s punch—twitched as muscles knitted beneath the skin.
She glared at him, voice rasping. “Why fight me? Other vampires infest this city. Wounding each other only helps them. Let me go, and I’ll vanish from Tokyo forever.”
Fang Cheng glanced back at Kanzaki Rin, grinning. “Hear that? Her offer’s way better than yours.”
As Kanzaki Rin opened her mouth to argue, she spotted Fang Cheng’s hidden gestures behind his back.
Her brow furrowed briefly before she nodded in understanding.
Their gazes locked. Fang Cheng turned back to Yagawa Ryouka.
This vampire had ambushed him, and now she wanted peace? The world didn’t work that way.
If Kanzaki Rin attacked in sync, he could end this fast.
“Surrender’s fine if you—”
Fang Cheng began his feint—only for Kanzaki Rin to dart past him and block the entrance.
Fang Cheng: ???
Yagawa Ryouka: ???
Two people stared at Kanzaki Rin with confusion, while she looked back at Fang Cheng puzzled: “Aren’t you taking action?”
Fang Cheng’s jaw dropped like he’d seen a ghost: “Are you sure you got my meaning?”
Kanzaki Rin finally noticed their misunderstanding: “Didn’t you tell me to guard the door and stop her escaping?”
Fang Cheng smacked his own face.
Complete disaster – zero teamwork between them.
This woman’s thought process twisted like delivery truck tires on a mountain pass, leaving even this seasoned driver spinning out.
Kanzaki Rin pressed her lips together silently.
How could she know what Fang Cheng’s weird hand signals meant?
Deciphering “block the door” from his fumbling already deserved praise.
Yagawa Ryouka saw through their muddled communication, realizing Fang Cheng’s trap.
With an enraged shriek, she lunged at Fang Cheng.
Her transformed body moved faster, but Fang Cheng still saw the punch coming.
Yagawa twisted away like a snake, pressing against him as razor nails pierced his flesh.
“Hiss!”
Fang Cheng sucked in cold air through gritted teeth, clawing at her.
But she slithered behind him, nails carving bloody tracks down his back.
Grabbing her wrists, Fang Cheng forced them apart – only to feel fangs sink into his neck, draining his blood.
Flames erupted from nowhere, setting them both ablaze.
Yagawa screamed from the burning pain.
Though hurting too, Fang Cheng endured better – he seized his chance to hurl her against the wall.
As Yagawa crashed into concrete, Kanzaki Rin recalled stray flames before they could ignite the room.
Fang Cheng didn’t scold her for friendly fire, already striding toward Yagawa whose wounds were visibly healing slower than his.
When burnt hair barely regrew, he grabbed her face and smashed two brutal punches.
Yagawa’s features burst like overripe fruit. She tore off her own scalp with attached hair, headbutting Fang Cheng’s jaw.
His head snapped back as fresh agony bloomed in his chest – her fingers speared toward his heart again.
Fang Cheng trapped her hands and retaliated with his own skull-crushing headbutt.
When it came to hard heads, he feared no one.
The impact reduced Yagawa’s face to pulpy ruin, knocking fangs from her bleeding mouth.
Fang Cheng showed no mercy for her gender, pummeling relentlessly.
“AAAAH!”
Dazed Yagawa shrieked as her swollen veins ruptured, spraying corrosive blood.
Where droplets fell, white smoke hissed from dissolving surfaces.
Too close to dodge, Fang Cheng’s face sizzled under the acidic shower, flesh bubbling grotesquely.
Rather than press her advantage, Yagawa fled past his smoking form.
She ignored Kanzaki Rin’s guarded door, aiming instead for the living room’s broken window.
Kanzaki Rin snapped fiery barriers across the exit.
Yagawa plunged through flames regardless, crashing through remaining glass panes already weakened by drone impacts.
Glancing back mid-escape, she found Fang Cheng already pursuing – his burned hand clamping her ankle like vise.
