Chapter 157: Unbelievably Swift
Chapter 157: Unbelievably Swift
Eight women clad in bathrobes walked through the corridors, led by two mature women with six younger girls trailing behind. Though differing in age, each possessed graceful curves and delicate features.
The two matrons led while the giggling girls followed.
“Meika, the young master will surely summon you tonight.”
“Don’t forget about us later, Meika!”
“Of course she won’t!”
Meika, a girl with frosty elegance, kept her gaze lowered and ignored their banter. Suddenly, she sensed movement behind her – a cold wind brushed her neck. When she turned, only elongated shadows stretched across the floor beneath the lights.
The group passed through security checkpoints unimpeded, guards bowing their heads respectfully. Upon reaching the residence’s core, a matron hissed: “Quiet.” Instant silence fell as the girls softened their footsteps.
They entered a courtyard and knelt soundlessly along the hallway outside a room. Hidden within Meika’s shadow, Fang Cheng observed the paper sliding door ahead. Silhouettes of two figures – one unmistakably Aoki Yusuke, the other his father Aoki Tsugumi – flickered behind the screen, their muffled conversation drifting outward.
Though easily locating his target, Fang Cheng withheld action. Thirty security guards lurked around this courtyard trap. Any movement would trigger an overwhelming response.
He settled to wait, certain the grown Aoki Yusuke wouldn’t share quarters with his father tonight. Unless… with his mother? That complicated matters.
Fang Cheng strained his superhuman hearing:
“On the 20th… next month… preparations complete…”
“…you depart first… if succeeds…”
“…lay low…”
The fragmented whispers suggested plans for the 20th followed by fleeing Tokyo regardless of outcome. Before Fang Cheng could hear more, the door pushed open.
A bathrobe-clad Aoki Yusuke emerged. The kneeling women instantly bowed as their young master passed.
Two married women entered the house with two young girls to serve Aoki Tsugumi. The remaining four girls stood and followed Aoki Yusuke out of the courtyard.
Watching from the shadows, Fang Cheng couldn’t help muttering to himself – this looked like something straight out of a feudal society.
But Area 11 had never undergone social revolution. Old aristocratic families maintained their rotten traditions even now. As a rising minor power, the Aoki family naturally mimicked upper-class customs to appear more noble.
Aoki Yusuke soon led the four girls to his own courtyard. Fang Cheng didn’t act during the walk due to the excessive number of security guards.
Upon entering the courtyard, Fang Cheng finally pinpointed the blood scent’s source – the vampire was here.
Aoki Yusuke ignored Nishitani Kyohei and went straight to the bathroom, where the four girls helped him wash. After finishing, he pointed at the elegant-looking girl. “Meika, stay tonight.”
Meika bowed her head. “Yes.” The other three girls left with envious glances.
“Hey Aoki!” Nishitani Kyohei’s voice boomed through the wall. “I’m bored as hell. Get me some fun now.”
Wincing, Aoki Yusuke replied, “Tomorrow. It’s too late.”
“Better keep your word, or I’ll bite your head off!”
Sighing, Aoki Yusuke sat down, recalling tonight’s conversation with his father. The Aoki family would stake everything on the 20th next month.
He’d even abandoned his long-term position at the Countermeasures Department, disregarding his colleagues’ lowered opinions. It had been weeks since he’d seen Kanzaki Rin. Was she still with that damned vampire?
The thought of his goddess being devoured by that creature made Aoki Yusuke’s chest tighten painfully.
“Young Master, time to rest.” Meika’s voice snapped him from his thoughts.
He suddenly pounced on the cool-mannered girl, pinning her to the floor. Meika lay motionless beneath him, offering no resistance.
From her shadow, Fang Cheng stared wide-eyed. Well damn – front row seats to a wrestling match!
He considered shooting Aoki Yusuke now, but Meika’s body covered the shadow. Above him, the pair had already started grappling.
Fang Cheng: …
He blinked. That’s it?
Seriously? I didn’t even draw my gun yet!
Aoki Yusuke finished faster than drawing a pistol!
“HAHAHA!” Nishitani Kyohei’s mockery shook the walls. “See a doctor quick, Aoki! There’s still hope!”
Though vampires lacked desire, he clearly enjoyed mocking Aoki Yusuke’s premature performance.
Aoki Yusuke’s face turned ashen. He hadn’t been like this before Fang Cheng’s beating. Was it trauma or…?
“Leave.” He waved dismissively.
“Yes.” Meika straightened her clothes and bowed.
As she bent forward, a bullet shot from her shadow toward Aoki Yusuke’s chest.
Sharp pain exploded in Aoki Yusuke’s skull – his mental powers detecting lethal danger. Despite trained reflexes making him jerk backward, blood bloomed across his collarbone.
“AAAAH!” He collapsed screaming.
Fang Cheng sprang from Meika’s shadow, emptying his magazine at the fallen man.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
CRASH!
Gunfire mixed with exploding masonry as a crimson wolf burst through the wall, shielding Aoki Yusuke with its body. Too late – the young master’s torso resembled Swiss cheese, riddled with bullet holes.
