Chapter 88: The Powerful Monster
Chapter 88: The Powerful Monster
In the thick white fog, the six people advanced cautiously.
The Giant Wood Maze was still unexplored, and it seemed there was a special reason for that. The powerful monsters here were probably stronger than Area Elites!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, a series of rumbling sounds came from ahead. Before the monster even appeared, the four of them already felt the ground shaking slightly!
“Be careful!”
Chen Mo’s face hardened; this was a large monster moving!
The white fog suddenly parted, and a figure rushed out. Chen Mo and the others prepared to attack, but then they saw a little girl with an anxious expression. Behind the little girl, a huge figure appeared!
A little girl… could it be Eliya?
June Rain quickly looked over, but saw that the little girl NPC’s name wasn’t Eliya, but “Eve”.
“Adventurers? Can you help me… No, you should run! This monster is very powerful!”
When Eve saw Chen Mo and the other three, her blue eyes lit up. She wanted to ask for their help, but before finishing her sentence, she immediately changed her mind.
“Let’s save her first!”
This was clearly an event! In this strange place, an NPC being chased by a monster appeared; not saving her would be really foolish! Even if Chen Mo and the others weren’t capable of saving her, they had to at least try!
“Summon Slime King!”
Chen Mo summoned a black Mutant Slime. Under his command, it hopped forward, blocking the path of the giant monster!
The giant monster broke through the thick white fog, revealing its form. Chen Mo and the others narrowed their eyes.
It was still an ape-type monster, a shape they had seen before—a four-armed ape—but its size was three times that of a normal ape, standing two and a half meters tall. It was enormous!
“Eve, come over here quickly.” Chen Mo called Eve over. If they blocked the monster and Eve just ran away, their effort would be wasted.
Regardless of whether saving Eve had rewards, they still needed to ask her if she had any information about Eliya.
Eliya was a little girl, and Eve was also a little girl. Everyone felt that Eve and Eliya must be somehow connected.
“Ah, why didn’t you run? This monster is really powerful.” Eve shook her head repeatedly, but she still obediently ran behind Chen Mo and the others.
“Roar!”
The Giant Ape made contact with the black Mutant Slime, let out an angry roar, and all four of its hands smashed down on the Mutant Slime’s head.
-5! -4! -10! -10!
Four damage numbers floated up. Chen Mo was startled.
Of the four damage numbers, the first two were normal physical damage, but the last two were green Toxin Damage.
Being able to deal four or five points of damage to the black Mutant Slime was already significant, but 10 points of Toxin Damage was terrifying. Chen Mo estimated that if any of the four of them were hit by the Giant Ape’s Toxin Damage, they would either die or lose half their lives!
Looking closer, Chen Mo noticed that the Giant Ape’s extra two arms had a faint black glow; they were clearly coated with deadly poison.
The Giant Ape was a powerful Elite Monster. Chen Mo estimated it had over 100,000 Health Points. Its Toxin Damage was too strong; even with June Rain, the Priest, the black Mutant Slime couldn’t withstand many attacks from the Giant Ape.
This was still part of the Giant Wood Maze; the area was narrow. Once the Giant Ape attacked, it would be difficult to find space to dodge. He and Golden Phoenix could manage, but June Rain and Little Demon would likely have a hard time and might get killed and sent back to the city if they weren’t careful. Looking at the Giant Ape’s attacks, it used all four hands at once; if they failed to dodge in time, they would be hit by at least two hands, and the damage was no joke.
What to do? Should he go forward to draw Aggro?
If he went forward, he could greatly reduce the black Mutant Slime’s burden, preventing it from dying too quickly. However, Golden Phoenix and Little Demon would have to lower their damage output, or they might steal Aggro.
Forget it, just summon Big Fatty!
Chen Mo didn’t want too many people to know he had a Boss as a follower, but to save trouble now, it was better to call Big Fatty out. After all, June Rain already knew, and it wouldn’t hurt if Golden Phoenix and Little Demon found out too.
More importantly, Chen Mo had a feeling there were many more of these Giant Apes ahead. He would have to call Big Fatty out sooner or later, otherwise, it would soon be midnight, and the Blood of Curse they worked hard to obtain would disappear.
“Roar!” Big Fatty emerged, letting out its customary majestic roar, but then it noticed the Flower Demon Battle Spirit on its head and immediately looked discouraged.
“Hurry up and go fight the monster!” Chen Mo unceremoniously kicked Big Fatty. Even so, Big Fatty stood still for two seconds. Only when the black Mutant Slime was about to be killed by the Giant Ape did it slowly hop over.
Big Fatty was very large. Although it didn’t completely block the passage, the equally huge Giant Ape had to get past Big Fatty first if it wanted to come through.
“Mutant Slime King!”
Golden Phoenix’s eyes widened. She understood better than June Rain how powerful this Boss was. Seeing Chen Mo call out this Boss follower, she was shocked.
“So you’re the one who ruined Glacier Game Club’s plans!” Then, she remembered the incident with the Flame Three-Headed Wolf.
And on the same day, when many experts tried to kill the Mutant Slime King, it mysteriously disappeared at the last moment.
Seeing this Mutant Slime King, Golden Phoenix understood everything. The Mutant Slime King didn’t disappear; it was captured by this guy and became his follower!
What kind of person is this guy?!
Golden Phoenix couldn’t help but look at Chen Mo with newfound respect, as if she was seeing him for the first time.
“Let’s talk about this later; this monster is really powerful!” Chen Mo smiled wryly. This was exactly why he didn’t want to call out Big Fatty—it was too attention-grabbing.
Ordinary Players might not notice, but Players who knew about that day’s events would definitely figure it out.
Golden Phoenix glanced at the damage Big Fatty was taking and temporarily set aside her curiosity.
The Giant Ape was very strong. Every hit on Big Fatty dealt hundreds of points of Damage. If that Damage landed on a Player, anyone who wasn’t a Knight would die in three hits; even a Priest couldn’t heal through that.
“Why is the healing so low?”
Big Fatty’s Health Points were dropping rapidly. June Rain hurriedly healed Big Fatty, but she found that the healing effect on Big Fatty was pitifully low, and she couldn’t help but be puzzled.
“I’m not a Pet-Specialized Hunter. Your Healing Skill only has 10% effect on my Pet.” June Rain apparently wasn’t familiar with the difference between Pet-Specialized Hunters and trap-focused Hunters. While attacking, Chen Mo gave an explanation.
Even Hunters who learned the Mastery talent only had 30% healing effect on their Pets. Plus, Hunter Pets couldn’t level up, and if a Pet died, it couldn’t be resurrected immediately. That’s why Chen Mo didn’t choose the Beast Tamer Specialist path, which seemed convenient and powerful but had many drawbacks.
Losing Health Points rapidly, both Big Fatty and the Flower Demon Battle Spirit on its head seemed to get angry. They used their skills one after another, and the Giant Ape’s Health Points plummeted.
Chen Mo, Golden Phoenix, and the others knew this was a critical opportunity and also attacked with all their might.
The Giant Ape with 100,000 Health Points was blocked by Big Fatty and was eventually killed, but Big Fatty also lost nearly one-third of its Health Points. Without Chen Mo and the others supporting from behind, it would likely have been a mutual defeat with the Giant Ape.
“Adventurers, you are so amazing! Please, you must save the poor Eliya!”
After killing the Giant Ape, before Chen Mo and the others could speak, Eve anxiously pleaded for help first.
