Chapter 72: Selling Equipment
Chapter 72: Selling Equipment
The Human Race was in decline. In the Three Major Cities, there were no high-end places like auction houses. However, north of Shadow Main City, there was a large safe area specifically for players to trade. There, players could set up a stall for buying and selling for one hour by paying one silver coin.
The Trading Area was crowded and very lively. But in the game, equipment was rare, so there were far more buyers than sellers.
Apart from regular players buying and selling equipment, there were also many equipment merchants in the Trading Area.
A popular game never lacked merchants, especially a groundbreaking game like Genesis. The game had just started its testing phase, so the prices of equipment and game currency were unstable. But if one could seize the opportunity, now was the best time to make money. With good luck, reselling one piece of equipment could yield several times the profit.
There were many merchants in the Trading Area, and Lian Hongyu was one of them. Among a group of male merchants, she stood out even though her appearance in the game was only average.
“Sister Phoenix, these are the Black Iron Arrows you wanted. The price is as agreed, 20 copper coins each.”
After Golden Phoenix was expelled from the test Instance Dungeon, she teleported to Shadow Main City with Little Demon. Lian Hongyu had sharp eyes. When she saw the two appear in the Trading Area, she knew they might be big clients. She went up to talk to Golden Phoenix and found out that she wanted to buy Black Iron Arrows.
At this stage, Black Iron Arrows were luxury equipment. Only Blacksmiths who had upgraded their forging skill to the beginner level could make them, using Black Iron Ore mined from the wild mining area west of Shadow City. Currently, only a few people had upgraded their forging skill to beginner level. Black Iron Ore could only be mined with a small chance by those who had reached the beginner level in mining skill. The output was limited. Although one piece of Black Iron Ore could forge quite a few Black Iron Arrows, the overall production was still very low. Moreover, they were consumables—using one meant losing one, something ordinary players couldn’t afford.
From the first day Lian Hongyu decided to become a merchant in the game, she had decided to build good relationships, even if it meant making less profit. Over the past half month, she earned less than other merchants, but she had already secured some stable suppliers and clients.
Among her friends list was a beginner Blacksmith. Since Golden Phoenix couldn’t find the arrows elsewhere, she asked Lian Hongyu for help after hearing her offer.
“Good. I’ll look for you again when I need to buy things, but you have to give me a discount.” Golden Phoenix had only been wandering around the Trading Area with Little Demon for a short while when Lian Hongyu brought the Black Iron Arrows. She was very satisfied with the speed and Lian Hongyu’s business attitude.
“Of course, Sister Phoenix! Whatever you need, just say the word. I’ll definitely give you a better price than others!” Lian Hongyu said happily. A client who bought 500 Black Iron Arrows at once wasn’t easy to find. Even with a discounted price, she still made a good profit.
Just then, Lian Hongyu’s eyes shifted as she saw a male player enter the Trading Area.
Having stayed in the Trading Area for over ten days, Lian Hongyu had seen more equipment than almost anyone else in the game. But she was surprised to find that she had never seen several pieces of the equipment the man was wearing.
Several of her competitors had already approached the man. Lian Hongyu wanted to go over too, but Golden Phoenix was still asking about some other equipment, so she suppressed the urge and focused on serving Golden Phoenix first. However, she soon saw the man wave his hand and send the other merchants away. Lian Hongyu realized that this player might just be here to look around without any real needs, so she didn’t pay much attention.
There were many such players; the Trading Area saw plenty of them every day. Most players were curious about what other equipment existed in the game, and visiting the Trading Area satisfied their curiosity greatly.
“This guy is actually here to sell equipment!”
Lian Hongyu saw her competitors looking surprised toward a stall. The male player had asked an NPC for a stall and set up a small shop. As soon as the stall appeared, a large crowd of players rushed over, pointing and discussing.
This wasn’t a common sight. It usually happened only when a stall had many good items!
“Sister Phoenix, it seems someone has put out some good stuff over there. Do you want to go take a look together?”
Even the surrounding merchants rushed over. Lian Hongyu knew the stall might be something special, so she invited Golden Phoenix to go with her.
“Okay.” Golden Phoenix liked to join in the excitement. She was also curious about what was on the stall that made so many people look so excited.
“So much equipment, all Blue Equipment and Green Equipment!”
When Lian Hongyu went over to look, she was immediately shocked.
Currently, most equipment was White Equipment, accounting for sixty percent. Blue Equipment made up thirty percent, and the remaining ten percent was Green Equipment. But this person had only Blue and Green Equipment, not a single White Equipment. It was very strange.
Could this person be a merchant like her?
No!
Lian Hongyu believed she had some skill in judging people. This male player was definitely not a merchant. Just looking at the prices he set—some were clearly a bit low and had already been quickly bought by other players. No merchant who collected so much equipment would make such a mistake.
Over a hundred pieces of Blue and Green Equipment weren’t something everyone could afford, and among them were many of the most valuable accessories and weapons.
Golden Phoenix was also surprised, but not because of the hundred-plus Blue and Green Equipment. She was shocked because the person setting up the stall was one of the participants in the Hell-level Talent Trial!
“Brother, I’ll take this Staff!”
“I want that Green Equipment bracelet!”
The prices Chen Mo set weren’t high, but he seemed to have underestimated how scarce equipment was in the game. Even though he had set the prices a bit higher than his mental estimate, the equipment sold much faster than he expected.
In no time, over eighty pieces out of the hundred-plus items had been sold. The remaining dozen or so were mostly Blue Equipment with poor Attributes.
Although not all the equipment was sold, Chen Mo still earned 142 Gold Coins, which was more than he had expected. It was enough to complete his Quest.
Chen Mo chose to end his stall setup. The surrounding players dispersed. Most players didn’t care who sold the equipment.
“Hello, do you remember me?” Golden Phoenix walked up and showed her character name.
“Golden Phoenix?” Chen Mo was surprised. He hadn’t expected to see Golden Phoenix again just a few hours later.
Although they hadn’t interacted directly, Golden Phoenix’s performance in the Instance Dungeon was quite eye-catching.
“It’s me. It looks like you’re a hidden expert. Let’s be friends and help each other out in the future. What do you think?” Golden Phoenix had a straightforward personality and stated her purpose with a laugh.
“Of course, no problem.” Chen Mo agreed readily and added Golden Phoenix as a friend. He liked dealing with straightforward people.
“Sister Phoenix, you know each other?” Lian Hongyu’s eyes lit up. This was definitely another big client!
“We just met now. Well, Brother Silence, she’s an equipment merchant I met today. She seems alright.” Golden Phoenix knew what Lian Hongyu was thinking and introduced her.
“Brother Silence, please take care of me!” Lian Hongyu was sociable and immediately called him “brother.”
“Equipment merchant? Do you want to buy these?” Chen Mo nodded. He thought it wouldn’t be bad to know an equipment merchant. Since there were no auction houses in the game, it might be very inconvenient to find certain things later.
He thought about selling the remaining dozen or so pieces of Blue Equipment to Lian Hongyu at a lower price.
They were all level ten equipment. Their prices would drop after a while, so it was better to sell them now at a lower price.
“Yes, but as merchants, we buy equipment at prices lower than the normal rate. Please understand, Brother Silence. But I can guarantee my prices are the most favorable!” Lian Hongyu quickly nodded.
Chen Mo took out the dozen-plus Blue Equipment pieces. In the end, Lian Hongyu decided to buy them all for 3 Gold Coins. Chen Mo felt the price was about right, so the deal was made smoothly.
After adding Lian Hongyu as a friend, Chen Mo left the Trading Area, exited Shadow Main City, and headed toward Selena’s direction.
…
Under a huge tree root near Selena’s wooden hut, a team watched the players who occasionally approached Selena.
“Boss, that person Brother Qi mentioned is really here!”
Another person appeared. An Archer player in the team immediately called out a warning.
