Chapter 62: The BOSS Pet Shows Its Power

Canglan Technology Center.

The Talent Trial instance dungeon was the last map that Canglan Technology could freely monitor.

However, unless there were data abnormalities, the people at Canglan Technology Center generally did not deliberately watch it.

Watching the normal difficulty level was not interesting. The Hell-level was interesting, but for now, no one could pass it, so watching it was a waste of time.

But after learning that Chen Mo was also attempting the Hell-level Talent Trial, a group of young people immediately started watching eagerly.

This guy had top-tier gear, and his skills and awareness were not bad. If even he couldn’t pass it, then for a considerable period in the future, it was likely that no one would be able to pass the Hell-level Talent Trial.

“This instance… is so strange.”

Seeing the monsters roar when they died, the group of young people also felt something was off.

“Should we try applying to Glimmer for the strategy guide?” someone suggested, and quickly received agreement.

Applying to the Glimmer AI for a strategy guide was not their first time, but Glimmer did not always agree. Especially for instance dungeon guides, if Glimmer agreed, it usually meant the instance would almost never be used again afterward. So they didn’t think Glimmer would provide the guide, especially for the Hell-level Talent Trial instance.

But soon, they were stunned—Glimmer actually agreed.

“Quick, take a look.” Not caring about anything else, the group crowded around to see.

“Damn! This instance is such a trap!”

“It’s not just a regular trap!”

“They’re doomed, definitely going to get wiped out!”

“What a pity. If it were another instance, this guy might still have a decent chance of passing.”

After reading the guide, everyone looked at each other, sighing repeatedly. They also understood why Glimmer had agreed to let them see the guide.

Half an hour had passed since the instance started.

“This place feels really creepy.”

Every time an Elite Monster was killed, it let out the same roar before dying. Little Warrior, listening in the quiet forest, couldn’t help but feel her scalp tingle.

Not just her—even Chen Mo, a grown man, felt the surroundings were somewhat eerie and cold.

Chen Mo killed monsters quickly. In half an hour, he had already killed eleven Elite Monsters.

For the Forest Crystals dropped by the monsters, Chen Mo picked up ten first before letting Little Warrior collect the rest. Little Warrior had no objections to this. If it weren’t for the need of ten crystals to clear the instance, she wouldn’t have taken any, letting Chen Mo keep them all.

“Up ahead, there seems to be a lake!”

As they walked, a shimmering light pierced through the trees. Little Warrior exclaimed excitedly.

“Let’s go take a look. Be careful.”

When a different environment suddenly appears, the situation could easily change.

“There’s a figure, seems like an NPC!” Little Warrior’s dark eyes were very sharp. From a distance, she spotted the figure of an old NPC man through the trees.

An NPC selling items? Seems like good luck!

Knowing what items the NPC had for sale early on would be a great help in clearing the instance.

“Hahaha, Brother Wildcat, I told you waiting here was definitely right! Look, aren’t people coming right to us? It’s a team of two, tsk! Too bad there are only a few of them. They probably don’t have many Forest Crystals on them.”

About ten meters from the lake, six people suddenly jumped out from behind a large tree. One of the Warriors looked at Chen Mo and the other, laughing heartily.

“It’s you two bad guys!” Little Warrior recognized two of them—the guys who had flirted with her in the waiting room.

“Hehe, little girl, do you remember what we said in the Great Hall? It’s still not too late to change your mind now. Otherwise, we’ll have to kill you.” Wildcat narrowed his eyes, staring shamelessly at Little Warrior’s chest.

“I don’t want to!” Little Warrior stood her ground defiantly.

“You refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit! Then go die!” Wildcat’s face turned cold.

“Retreat!” Chen Mo shouted. Little Warrior immediately turned and ran back without hesitation.

“After them!” Wildcat and his six gave chase. One of the Archers even raised his bow to attack Little Warrior.

Little Warrior wasn’t wearing any equipment and couldn’t withstand many attacks. Instead of retreating, Chen Mo moved forward, shooting a Crossbow Bolt at the Archer.

Chen Mo’s Crossbow Bolt was faster than the Archer’s shot. The Archer was hit by Chen Mo’s bolt just as he drew his bow, causing his arrow to go off course.

“Kid, if you want to die, we’ll kill you first!”

The Archer was furious and aimed his bow at Chen Mo. The other five, seeing Chen Mo attack the Archer, closed in several meters in the blink of an eye, ready to surround him.

They had noticed Chen Mo’s gear but weren’t too concerned, thinking he probably just had a full set of Green Equipment.

A full set of Green Equipment wasn’t a big deal. Even if his Attributes were better than theirs, they had numbers and weren’t afraid at all.

Level 10 Players didn’t have many skills, and if the equipment gap wasn’t large, the side with more people held an absolute advantage.

Surrounded by this group of Players with Blue and Green Equipment, Chen Mo knew he was in real danger.

If they dared to wait here to ambush others, they must have some skills. With six against one, he would at least have to withstand half of their attacks. With his Attributes as they were, he couldn’t just dodge as he pleased.

But Chen Mo still didn’t retreat immediately. He needed to cover Little Warrior’s escape and buy as much time as possible.

“Summon Slime King!”

Chen Mo summoned a black Mutant Slime.

It wasn’t green. Chen Mo felt a bit disappointed. The Green Mutant Slime’s attack could poison them and slow their movement. If he had summoned a Green Mutant Slime, Little Warrior would definitely have been able to escape to a safe distance.

He sent the black Mutant Slime forward to block while quickly setting up a Shockwave Trap and throwing it at Wildcat and his six.

Boom!

The Shockwave Trap exploded. Wildcat and his six, who were less than six meters away, were all knocked back two meters.

Chen Mo had no intention of fighting them. He turned and retreated as well.

“Chase! I don’t believe you can really escape.”

Six people chasing two and still failing to kill them—Wildcat and his group couldn’t help but feel furious.

After all, they weren’t ordinary Players; they had the pride of experts!

“What’s that!”

The six gave chase fiercely. The Archer even secretly shot a few arrows at Chen Mo, slowing his escape significantly.

Just as they were about to catch up to Chen Mo, the Archer stared at the woods ahead and suddenly cried out in alarm.

From within the woods, a huge purple crystal Slime came leaping toward them.

“It kinda looks like the BOSS from the Starter Village!” They all found it familiar.

“Why would the Starter Village BOSS be here? It must be an instance Elite Monster!”

“Never mind, let’s kill this guy first. It’s just an Elite Monster—nothing to worry about!”

They were close to catching Chen Mo and certainly wouldn’t give up now.

“Roar!”

The six were only a few steps away from Chen Mo when they saw the huge purple Slime roar and charge straight at him.

“Good!” They all rejoiced at the sight.

Tangled up with an Elite Monster, there was no way this guy could escape now!

But then the six were dumbfounded. That guy actually dodged the huge Slime’s charge with a swift movement, and the huge Slime ended up right in front of them.

“Roar!”

Then they saw the huge Slime roar again, and numerous purple spheres shot out from its body.

“Not good! Dodge!” They were horrified.

Area attack! This Elite Monster actually used an area attack!

The six wanted to dodge, but it was too late.

Bang, bang, bang…

Explosions rang out one after another. Numbers in the hundreds appeared over the six’s heads one by one, and almost simultaneously, they all fell to the ground.

With the team wiped out, the six were immediately kicked out of the instance. Their bodies vanished, and their Trial failed.

Only then did Chen Mo slowly turn around and look at the five Forest Crystals the six had dropped on the ground.

“Awesome! Truly a BOSS-level pet!” He patted Big Fatty’s head in admiration.

If he had to kill the six himself, he would have needed to use the terrain and put in a lot of effort. But Big Fatty wiped out all six with a single move—clean and efficient.

“Damn, how is there such a broken Elite Monster!” At a Resurrection Point in a Main City, Wildcat raged.

Until their deaths, Wildcat and his six believed they were killed by a ridiculously strong Elite Monster in the instance.

This was exactly why Chen Mo had Big Fatty follow behind with its name hidden.

He couldn’t let others know too soon that he had Big Fatty as his trump card. If exposed early, other teams would definitely band together to deal with him.

But not using Big Fatty wasn’t an option either. He was alone, and his enemies weren’t pushovers. Protecting Little Warrior, who wore no equipment, might work once, but it wouldn’t hold up multiple times.
