Chapter 42: Heart-Stopping Moment
While Enoch’s speed slowed, Chen Mo darted into the inner chamber.
The room involved in this secret tryst quest was spacious, over ten meters long and wide. Chen Mo had the speed advantage and didn’t want to get cornered by Enoch. If she unleashed some unknown area attack, he’d be trapped with nowhere to run.
“Come here.”
The Green Mutant Slime, under Chen Mo’s command, stopped attacking Enoch. It hopped along after Chen Mo.
“Little thief, where do you think you’re escaping to!” Enoch’s mission was to capture Chen Mo. Having failed with one strike, she pursued him relentlessly.
But as soon as she moved her foot, she triggered another Basic Trap Chen Mo had thrown down.
Chen Mo’s traps could only be placed seven meters away. That distance barely counted as mid-range, but it was enough for this battle.
Boom!
The Basic Trap exploded, and surprisingly, Enoch’s speed slowed again!
The low-probability Crippling Effect had actually triggered!
“Lucky break!”
Slight Poison Crossbow!
Chen Mo knew he couldn’t waste this chance. He immediately used the Slight Poison Crossbow skill, firing his Hand Crossbow at Enoch.
The Toxic Hand Crossbow weapon carried the Slight Poison Crossbow skill at Level 1. Chen Mo’s Slight Poison Crossbow skill was currently at Primary Level. The Primary Level effect was slightly stronger than Novice Level, adding 7 points of Toxin Damage per attack, stackable up to 5 points.
Chen Mo shot a bolt. Enoch tried to dodge, but her speed was slowed. At such short range, dodging was impossible.

As the bolt struck, four different Damage numbers floated above Enoch’s head.
The first was the red Damage from Chen Mo’s attack. The second, third, and fourth were all green Toxin Damage values. The middle two came from the Slight Poison Crossbow and Slime Venom Toxin Damage. The last, the 200-point Toxin Damage, was the weapon effect of the Toxic Hand Crossbow.
Added to the Damage from the Green Mutant Slime earlier, Enoch instantly lost 600 points of Health Points.
“Good luck. Enoch’s Defense isn’t high, and her health isn’t massive either. About thirty thousand? Not too much.” Seeing this, Chen Mo felt more confident about defeating Enoch.
By all measures, the Mutant Slime King’s Attributes were stronger than Enoch’s. However, Chen Mo had to rely on trickery for the Slime King. Against Enoch, it was a head-on clash.
“Stop her!”
Enoch charged furiously towards him. Chen Mo wouldn’t let her get close. The Assassin was the most control-focused class. Once near, she could easily lock him down and finish him.
Even though Chen Mo hadn’t managed to farm the last two pieces of Purple Equipment for his chest and head gear these past two days, his current setup was unmatched among level ten Players. But his opponent was Enoch. He couldn’t judge her by Player standards. Chen Mo wasn’t sure if his current Health Points could withstand Enoch’s combo attack.
The Green Mutant Slime obediently hopped over to entangle Enoch.
Its every attack guaranteed poisoning, slowing attack and movement speed. While its damage wasn’t significant, as an assistant, it was impeccable.
Enoch was hit by the Green Slime once more. The slowing effect, which had been about to wear off, started its countdown anew. She was furious.
“Waist Cutter!”
Her Dagger flashed coldly. Enoch’s blade sliced through the Slime’s midsection.
A bloody gash instantly appeared across the Green Mutant Slime’s waist. Affected by this wound, the Slime seemed to feel as though its lower half had vanished. It tried desperately to hop closer and attack Enoch, but found its lower body completely unresponsive. It could only stare helplessly with large, anxious eyes.
“Damnnit! Truly ridiculous!”
Chen Mo grew even more vigilant.
He absolutely could not let Enoch get close! If she did, he definitely wasn’t her match!
Chen Mo knew well his sole reliance was speed. His full suit of Purple Equipment only provided him the basic capability to fight Enoch. It didn’t guarantee victory just by having it. Probably in this quest, if Enoch got close, she’d lock him down, capture him, and throw him into the Land of Divine Punishment!
After all, the designer of this quest clearly didn’t intend for any Player to complete it.
But why didn’t the quest designer just set Enoch as invincible?
Chen Mo was slightly curious. This wasn’t something he could figure out. Yet, as far as he knew, the Genesis Game currently featured no such invincible, undying NPCs.
During the few seconds Enoch was tangled with the Green Slime, Chen Mo attacked several times. Enoch had already lost nearly 2000 Health Points. The Slight Poison Crossbow and Slime Venom stacks had reached 5 and 4 layers respectively. Every second, Enoch’s health decreased by 135 points. Combined with Chen Mo’s attacks, her Health Points plummeted by over 300 points per second.
Factoring in the occasional trigger of the Toxic Hand Crossbow’s weapon effect, at this rate, Enoch would die in under three minutes!
But Chen Mo knew it wouldn’t be that simple. After taking several of his attacks, and with the Slime unable to get close (the Crippling Effect had long since worn off), as the slowing effect from the Slime Venom faded, Enoch’s speed abruptly surged. Her pretty face cold, she rushed murderously towards Chen Mo.
Enoch decided not to dodge his Hand Crossbow attacks anymore. She simply wasn’t afraid of their damage.
This shameless Adventurer’s speed was slower than hers. Take a few more hits, get into melee range, and the Adventurer would have nowhere to flee!
“Hey! Want to get close? Dream on!”
But Chen Mo shot Enoch a fierce grin. As she wondered what he was plotting, the Adventurer’s speed suddenly exploded upward!
Fallen One Title!
Low-grade Mutated Agility Potion!
Chen Mo instantly equipped his Fallen One Title and downed a Low-grade Mutated Agility Potion. His Movement Speed Cap instantly increased by 5 points!
Before entering, Chen Mo hadn’t equipped the Fallen One Title.
He originally hoped the Green Mutant Slime could stall as long as possible. If feasible, he didn’t want to reveal his maximum speed so quickly, unsure of what tactics Enoch possessed.
But now the Green Slime was unreliable. The slowing chance of Basic Trap was too low. If he didn’t use both now, being caught by Enoch would be game over.
“You cannot escape! Blink!”
Facing Chen Mo whose speed had just spiked, Enoch’s face froze. She shouted sharply, her figure suddenly blurring!

Chen Mo anticipated Enoch would have counters, but not one this absurd! If he wasn’t mistaken, the very next instant, Enoch’s attack would land on him as if via Blink!
No one can finish this quest!
This quest most likely doesn’t even have any completion rewards programmed!
In that instant, Chen Mo felt certain of his initial suspicion!
The moment he was hit, he was probably getting captured!
But Chen Mo didn’t wait passively for death. The instant Enoch’s form blurred and vanished, he desperately used another skill.
Wind Speed Dodge!

At the moment he activated Wind Speed Dodge, a figure abruptly materialized in front of him. A pitch-black Dagger stabbed viciously towards Chen Mo!
