Chapter 155: Cooperation Once Again
Chapter 155: Cooperation Once Again
Oh no, it was actually someone familiar!
Chen Mo ran over to look and found that the person fighting was none other than Xue Ye Hua.
Wasn’t this woman supposed to be killing monsters to earn Points? How did she end up in the Sewer?
Chen Mo felt curious, but there was no time to think too much. Xue Ye Hua was being held up by three people up ahead: a Warrior, an Archer, and a Mage. The Warrior was a Shield Warrior, the Archer was an Ice Archer, and the Mage was an Ice Mage. As a trio, their Damage wasn’t very high, but their control and Defense were top-notch. Xue Ye Hua’s situation was already critical, and it was just a matter of time before she was killed.
Chen Mo and Sesshylow charged forward fiercely. Chen Mo sent a party request to Xue Ye Hua. Xue Ye Hua saw it and couldn’t help feeling overjoyed, knowing she was saved.
“Huh? So we have backup? But the backup will die too!” The Ice Archer had the broadest view. Spotting Chen Mo’s appearance, he sneered coldly. He raised his iron bow and shot an ice arrow at Chen Mo.
Xue Ye Hua’s Health Points were already low. If she was hit by the ice arrow and slowed down, it would be too late to save her. The Ice Archer clearly aimed to finish Xue Ye Hua first before focusing on Chen Mo.
However, Chen Mo raised his hand and fired a Crossbow Bolt to meet the ice arrow.
Bang!
The two arrows collided in midair. The Ice Archer froze in shock, then felt startled!
Could this backup really have blocked his attack with a Crossbow Bolt?
“It’s him! That Hunter!” The Ice Mage recognized Chen Mo as familiar. Then he saw Sesshylow beside Chen Mo and couldn’t help shouting out loud.
When it came to Hunters, Sea Clan Players now only thought of one person. The Ice Archer hadn’t seen Chen Mo’s picture on the Forum, but upon hearing the Ice Mage mention “Hunter,” he immediately knew who it was.
What should they do?
The three all panicked upon learning that the backup was that Hunter.
It wasn’t that they were too weak—after all, newbies couldn’t accept this invasion quest for Eastern Sea City. Among Sea Clan Players, they were considered elite Players.
The problem was, that guy opposite them was just too ruthless. The number of Sea Clan Players he had killed was right there for all to see: group killings through ambushes, straight-up strong kills head-on— he could solo a whole team either way.
Although they three were decent, facing such a brutal opponent meant they were no match at all. It wasn’t self-doubt; they knew their limits. Teams stronger than theirs had fallen many times before, so how could they possibly defeat this guy?
With their skills and methods, no matter how they thought about it, they couldn’t kill this crazy Hunter!
“Kill!”
Chen Mo took advantage of their panic and ordered Sesshylow to make a bold move.
Swift Shadow Assault! Dual Boomerang Slash!
Sesshylow quickly rushed to the side of the Ice Archer. Two skills slammed down one after the other.
Bang! Bang! The watery Dagger struck the Ice Archer fiercely. Three damages—two small, one big—burst out from the Ice Archer’s body. His Health Points dropped instantly to less than 500.
The Ice Archer was terrified and immediately tried to back away. But no matter how fast he was, he couldn’t outpace Sesshylow. The Ice Archer retreated only two steps when Sesshylow caught up and landed an ordinary attack, slicing away his last remaining Health Points.
“You hold off the Shield Warrior,” Chen Mo shouted to Xue Ye Hua. The Shield Warrior had high Defense but low attack power. Xue Ye Hua only needed to keep him busy; it wasn’t dangerous.
While Sesshylow was attacking the Ice Archer, Chen Mo also went for the Ice Mage.
“Icy Path!” the Ice Mage urgently cried out.
A path of broken ice rapidly formed on the Sewer ground ahead of Chen Mo. This was the Icy Path. Enemies stepping on it would take Damage with every step, and their speed would slow down.
The Sewer wasn’t wide, and this Icy Path blocked Chen Mo’s way. If he wanted to chase the Ice Mage, he had to walk over it. However, the Icy Path dealt quite a bit of Damage. If Chen Mo walked from start to end, he’d lose at least 1,200 Health Points. If the Ice Mage had stronger attack power, the Damage could be even greater. Then, if the Ice Mage unleashed a powerful, high-Damage magic skill, he might just kill Chen Mo outright.
Chen Mo would never give him that chance. With a thought, he had Sesshylow—who had already killed the Ice Archer—walk up front.
Sesshylow had low resistance to magic attacks, but with 130,000 Health Points, even if the Ice Mage attacked wildly, he couldn’t do much harm. Chen Mo followed behind Sesshylow and passed through the Icy Path.
Thanks to the slowdown from the Icy Path, the Ice Mage got a bit further away. But once their speed recovered, Chen Mo and Sesshylow caught up quickly.
Unable to use the Icy Path again, the Ice Mage could only watch as Chen Mo and Sesshylow overtook him and killed him together.
After killing the Ice Mage, the two rushed back. They found Xue Ye Hua and the Shield Warrior fighting fiercely. The Shield Warrior had high Defense, but Xue Ye Hua wielded the Wind Shadow Greatsword, making her attacks terrifyingly strong. Unfortunately, her Level was a bit low, and the Shield Warrior was at least Level 25. Xue Ye Hua’s Damage was suppressed severely due to Level Suppression. Otherwise, by the time Chen Mo returned, she might have already killed the Shield Warrior.
Chen Mo and Sesshylow joined in. With the three surrounding him, they quickly took down the heavily armored Shield Warrior onto the ground.
“This Shield Warrior is really annoying. Later at higher Levels, it’s even harder to deal with,” Chen Mo said, looking at the Shield Warrior’s corpse.
Shield Warriors had a trait—they could reflect melee Damage. At lower Levels, the reflection effect was usually less than 10%. But later at higher Levels, that ratio would surely rise. Then, killing a Shield Warrior would feel like hurting yourself as much as you hurt them.
“What brought you to the Sewer?” Chen Mo asked curiously, turning to Xue Ye Hua after killing them.
With three kills, each one gave Chen Mo 110 Points, plus an extra 200. That meant 310 Points per kill.
It showed that Xue Ye Hua hadn’t accepted a quest like him to hunt the invaders inside the city. Otherwise, the extra Points would have split at least half to her.
“Of course, for a Quest. Why else would I come here?” Xue Ye Hua retorted impatiently.
This Sewer was so dangerous; she almost died. If it wasn’t for a Quest, who in their right mind would come here?
Tsk, this woman was asking for a beating! So rude!
Chen Mo, with his low emotional intelligence, stupidly stewed over it. He didn’t realize that Xue Ye Hua only talked to him like this because she considered him a friend. Otherwise, she would have just politely said thanks and moved on.
“What Quest?” Chen Mo asked. He decided to be the bigger person and not argue much with a little lady like Xue Ye Hua.
“Destroying Magic Arrays in the Sewer…” Xue Ye Hua explained her Quest in detail.
Half an hour earlier, Qing Tian had something to do tomorrow and had to log off for rest. Xue Ye Hua was killing monsters alone outside the city to earn Points. But unexpectedly, she quickly caught the eye of a Sea Clan Player team.
Even with the Wind Shadow Greatsword equipped, Xue Ye Hua’s low Level was a huge disadvantage. Under Level Suppression, her attacks were strong but couldn’t instantly annihilate enemies.
Solo against a whole team and unable to kill fast—that surely ended in death.
After being killed and revived back in Eastern Sea City, Xue Ye Hua lost 100 Points. She figured going out again held a high risk of death. Passing an NPC’s house in town after Resurrection, Xue Ye Hua had a sudden idea. She visited this NPC, wondering if she could get a Quest related to the Sea Clan’s siege.
This NPC was quite important—a Grand Mage named Kamen, an expert on Magic Arrays. When Asar had given her a quest earlier, he said that after completing it, she should claim rewards from Kamen. Kamen must have strong ties to the Yuedora Kingdom. Xue Ye Hua not only finished the letter-delivery Quest but also rescued Princess Peraldili, which greatly boosted Kamen’s Favorability toward her.
Xue Ye Hua approached Kamen and brought up the Sea Clan siege. Kamen told her that there were unusual magical fluctuations in Eastern Sea City’s Sewer. He instructed her to tell the person in charge at the City Lord’s Mansion. That responsible NPC was the old man who issued Quests. Hearing Xue Ye Hua’s report, he fully trusted Kamen’s judgment and sent Xue Ye Hua into the Sewer to search for suspicious magical fluctuations. If she found any Magic Arrays, she was to destroy them.
Armed with a tool from the Quest NPC, Xue Ye Hua entered the Sewer. She soon found a prepared one. Using the tool, she destroyed one Magic Array and kept searching downward. But unexpectedly, she ran into Sea Clan Players setting up another Magic Array. They spotted her—three were busy with the Magic Array and couldn’t move, so the other three chased after her to kill her.
If it were other classes, even against three Levels higher than her, Xue Ye Hua could surely fight back. But the three included a Shield Warrior. The Shield Warrior pinned her down, while the Ice Archer and Ice Mage attacked from behind. Xue Ye Hua couldn’t handle them at all. Had Chen Mo not shown up just then, she would have certainly died again.
“Come on, let’s do this Quest together. I happen to have a killing Quest too, so I’ll bring you along,” Chen Mo waved generously.
With Xue Ye Hua around, killing people in this narrow Sewer would be much easier. Even though Xue Ye Hua would take a hundred Points or so, it didn’t matter much.
“Bringing big sister along so kindly—do you have other motives?” Xue Ye Hua giggled. Having grown closer to Chen Mo, she was slowly returning to her old self from when they first met.
“Big sister? Quick, call me big brother! Don’t forget that bet!” Chen Mo glared at her.
“Ah, the weather is beautiful today,” Xue Ye Hua instantly changed the subject.
Dammit, playing dumb again! And not only was it nighttime, they were in the Sewer—no way to tell the weather!
“Lead the way! Hurry and kill the remaining three!” Chen Mo waved dismissively, refusing to argue further with this woman. He told Xue Ye Hua to take the lead.
Three people—that was over a thousand Points. Killing them would be over in a flash; absolutely couldn’t let them get away.
“Bad news! Star Light and the others are all wiped out! That crazy Hunter is heading this way!”
Meanwhile, a hundred meters away in a dark corner of the Sewer, one of three Players busy below suddenly jolted his head up.
“Anyway, the main part is done—run! Also, we must report this to Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon! If people are destroying Magic Arrays and that Hunter appears, our plan will be hard to finish now!”
Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon was the person in charge for all Sea Clan Players setting up Magic Arrays in this Sewer. This Quest was triggered by him!
