Chapter 140: Shipwreck
Chapter 140: Shipwreck
In the blink of an eye, Chen Mo, Xue Ye Hua, and Qing Tian killed monsters in the wilds outside Eastern Sea City for three days.
There were many Players during the day, but the number of Players dropped sharply at night.
Not everyone could afford a Hibernation Pod that cost two hundred thousand. Most Players still used game helmets, and game helmets did not have a hibernation function.
On the first night, Chen Mo summoned Sesshylow to kill monsters madly. Qing Tian was a healer, and Xue Ye Hua was a dual-blade warrior who had mastered double sword proficiency. She had been using only one weapon before because she lost one when she died and was sent to the Land of Exile. There were no good weapons to replace it in the Land of Exile, so it was better to just use one weapon. Compared to using two weapons, using one did not reduce her attack power much; she only lost the special effect of the second weapon.
Of course, the damage output of dual-blade skills was definitely reduced.
After they started leveling up, Xue Ye Hua asked Chen Mo and Qing Tian to continue leveling first. Then she returned to Eastern Sea City and bought back a weapon. Her damage output was not low at all; in fact, it was much higher than Chen Mo’s.
Among all of Chen Mo’s equipment, the only thing that was somewhat decent was still the “Grandmaster” title.
With Sesshylow, a super boss-like little sister, by his side, Chen Mo was in no hurry to change his equipment. After all, if he changed it now, it would become obsolete in a few days. There was no need to waste time hunting for equipment, as finding a suitable set was not easy.
After summoning Sesshylow on the first night, Chen Mo continued to let her fight from then on, no longer hiding her.
Now that Players were everywhere, if he continued to hide Sesshylow and not let her out, he would only be efficient at leveling up at night. Who knew how long it would take to level up that way?
With Sesshylow in action, they naturally occupied more leveling spots. Chen Mo took over a large area when leveling up at night. Even when more Players showed up during the day, he had no intention of giving up the spots. Whenever someone approached, he would have Sesshylow threaten them. Although many were unhappy about the three of them monopolizing a large leveling area, no one dared to provoke him. After all, Sesshylow’s attacks were too brutal, and anyone who started a conflict would likely suffer losses. Without significant benefits at stake, naturally, no one wanted to mess with such a character.
After three days of intense leveling up, Chen Mo reached Level 18. Xue Ye Hua and Qing Tian were originally a little over Level 16, but they reached Level 19 before Chen Mo.
“A Shipwreck! Another Shipwreck has washed ashore!”
On the evening of the third day, while Chen Mo and the other two were still leveling up, a voice suddenly rang out.
A Shipwreck?
Chen Mo and Xue Ye Hua exchanged glances.
This was not the first time a Shipwreck had appeared in Eastern Sea City. Over half a month ago, the wreckage of a Shipwreck had appeared in Eastern Sea City.
It was only ten days ago that Players, whose Levels had skyrocketed, completely excavated that Shipwreck wreckage and took all the good items inside.
It was said that Shipwrecks contained various rare equipment and treasures. Many people in Eastern Sea City had made a fortune because of the Shipwreck, making Players from the other two Main Cities wish they had been born in Eastern Sea City to try their luck.
Half a month later, the Shipwreck wreckage appeared again, instantly attracting a large number of Players from Eastern Sea City.
“Let’s go! Let’s check it out!” Chen Mo was also intrigued.
Based on the experience from the previous Shipwreck, the monsters inside were around Level 20. Fighting monsters one or two Levels higher was not a big problem for the three of them. The Shipwreck had just appeared, and the higher-level Players were leveling up in more distant areas, so they wouldn’t be able to arrive for a while. This was the perfect opportunity for them to search for treasure. If those Level 26 or 27 Players showed up, even with Sesshylow, her killing power would be very limited under the Level Suppression of more than ten Levels.
The Shipwreck was not too far from the three of them. In just over twenty minutes, they reached the location where the Shipwreck had appeared.
The Shipwreck had appeared on a stretch of coastline, over a hundred meters away from the sea. No one knew how it got there.
The Shipwreck was enormous, with more than half of it buried in the sea sand. The protruding part was over ten meters high. The Shipwreck had many holes, and there were several entrances around it to get inside.
A large group of Players rushed toward the Shipwreck. However, sea creatures emerged from around the Shipwreck and attacked the Players. Those who were slightly weaker were easily killed by the sea creatures.
Chen Mo was speechless. These sea creatures were clearly meant to move in the sea, but for some reason, they could move freely on the beach outside Eastern Sea City, as if they were moving through water instead of sand.
“Follow me.” After observing for a moment, Chen Mo had already found a relatively safe path.
Xue Ye Hua and Qing Tian followed Chen Mo and safely entered the interior of the Shipwreck.
The inside of the Shipwreck was somewhat eerie. The wood used to build the ship had many black, rotting spots. It was unclear how many years the Shipwreck had been submerged in the sea before washing up outside Eastern Sea City.
There were many Players inside the Shipwreck. Before Chen Mo could decide which direction to go, Sesshylow moved and hurried toward one side of the Shipwreck.
Sesshylow could use Mimicry. To prevent her from standing out too much, Chen Mo always had her take the form of an ordinary Player when not fighting monsters. Now, as she hurriedly ran through the Shipwreck, she appeared unremarkable to other Players. But Chen Mo knew that Sesshylow must have found something good!
“Let’s go!” Chen Mo let Sesshylow act on her own and quickly chased after her.
On both sides of the Shipwreck’s passageways were cabins. Inside the cabins were monsters and Treasure Chests. Since the Shipwreck had just been discovered, even the cabins on this level still had many Treasure Chests that Players had not yet obtained.
There were stairs going up and down in the middle of the Shipwreck. Sesshylow went downward, all the way to the Third Level, and then turned to the left.
There were far fewer Players on the Third Level. Sesshylow led Chen Mo into an empty cabin where there was only a monster wielding a skeleton greatsword. Behind the monster was a Treasure Chest covered in seaweed, making it impossible to see its original appearance. However, Sesshylow stared at the Treasure Chest with blazing eyes and, without waiting for Chen Mo’s order, pounced on the Greatsword Skeleton.
Chen Mo and the other two immediately stepped forward to help.
“What a powerful monster! It’s an Elite Monster!”
The Greatsword Skeleton began to attack. With a swing of its greatsword, a blade of energy swept horizontally. This attack not only targeted Sesshylow, who was charging at it, but also Chen Mo and the other two, who could not avoid it.
With a casual move, it launched an Area Attack!
An ordinary team of Players would have a hard time dealing with this Greatsword Skeleton.
Chen Mo and the other two retreated to evade, but Sesshylow was completely unafraid.
The Greatsword Skeleton was a Level 21 Elite Monster with physical attack attributes. Physical attacks would deal significantly reduced Damage to Sesshylow.
Sure enough, when the Greatsword Skeleton’s slash landed on Sesshylow, it only dealt over four hundred points of Damage. For Sesshylow, who had a hundred thousand Health Points, it was just a drop in the bucket.
The Greatsword Skeleton also had a lot of Health Points, over a hundred and fifty thousand. Its Defense was strong, and physical attacks dealt very low Damage. The greatsword had a large attack range, and most of its attacks were Area Attacks. When hit, the Damage could range from a few hundred to over a thousand.
An ordinary team would truly be no match for this Elite Monster.
However, in Chen Mo’s team of three, they had Sesshylow, a boss who could both attack and tank. With Chen Mo and Xue Ye Hua providing supplementary Damage from the side and Qing Tian healing and buffing, they did not feel much pressure fighting the Greatsword Skeleton. The Greatsword Skeleton’s Health Points dropped rapidly.
As an Elite Monster, the Greatsword Skeleton did not randomly use powerful skills like a mutated boss when its Health was low. Until its death, its attacks remained largely unchanged.
The three of them, along with Sesshylow, fought fiercely for over three minutes before the Greatsword Skeleton finally fell to the ground and died.
Then Sesshylow quickly walked to the Treasure Chest, circling it anxiously and staring eagerly at Chen Mo, waiting for him to open it.
What was inside that made Sesshylow so anxious?
Xue Ye Hua and Qing Tian were very curious.
After teaming up with Chen Mo to kill monsters for three days, although Chen Mo had never spoken about Sesshylow, they knew her origins were likely not simple and that she should not be treated as an ordinary Pet.
Chen Mo walked over and opened the Treasure Chest.
System Notification: You obtained 20 “Crystals”!
It really was Crystals!
Seeing the System Notification, Chen Mo was not surprised.
In the Land of Exile, Sesshylow had nearly been unable to move when she saw the Bloody Crystal Ore. Moreover, only Crystals could make her sense their presence from afar.
“Crystals. She needs these. I’ll take them, and you can have the other items later.” Chen Mo showed them the Crystals he had obtained.
“You can take everything else. We only want equipment that suits us.” Xue Ye Hua shook her head. She knew that the main reason they could defeat the Greatsword Skeleton was Sesshylow.
Before Chen Mo could say anything, Sesshylow had already pounced on him. Her originally empty eyes were filled with longing as she looked at him, almost pressing her body against his. Chen Mo broke out in a sweat and quickly handed the Crystals to her one by one.
Taking the Crystals from Chen Mo, Sesshylow quickly tossed them into her small mouth.
System Notification: Your Pet Sesshylow’s abilities have improved!
After ten Crystals, the System Notification sounded. Chen Mo looked over and saw that Sesshylow’s Level had risen to 19!
“Great!”
Confirming that Sesshylow could indeed level up by consuming Crystals, Chen Mo could not help but feel overjoyed. He immediately handed the remaining ten Crystals to Sesshylow. Sesshylow did not hesitate and swallowed them all in one gulp.
System Notification: Your Pet Sesshylow’s abilities have improved!
Then, Sesshylow’s Level increased by one more Level, reaching Level 20!
After reaching Level 20, Sesshylow’s body grew slightly larger, and it took on a faint, crystal-like translucency.
“This Shipwreck really has good stuff. Let’s continue!”
Chen Mo was in a very good mood. Originally, after reaching Level 18, he had planned to find a way to get Crystals for Sesshylow to level her up. Otherwise, she would soon fall behind his Level, just like Big Fatty.
Now, it was great. Her Level had jumped to 20. At least for a week, Chen Mo did not have to worry about Sesshylow falling behind. With that time, he could obtain more Crystals to further increase Sesshylow’s Level.
