Chapter 11: You Know What’s Good
Chapter 11: You Know What’s Good
System Notification: You completed the quest “Troublesome Wild White Rabbits”!
System Notification: You received 10 Copper Coins and 500 Experience Points!
After returning to Earl Town to turn in the quest, Chen Mo glanced at the quest rewards and shook his head.
The quest rewards couldn’t be considered low; it was like getting an extra 25 Experience Points for each Wild White Rabbit killed. But the number of players fighting for any quest monster was extremely high. Doing quests simply wasn’t worth it. It was much faster to just kill monsters directly.
Chen Mo logged out and checked the official game forum. Many players had already posted various monster spawning locations.
“Wild Wolf Valley, Level 7 monster Wild Wolves. Hmm, this is the one.”
Soon, Chen Mo had decided on his target.
Level 7 Wild Wolves had high attack power and were also quite fast, making them very troublesome. Even a Level 5 player, with hardly any gear, would definitely die if hit twice.
However, Chen Mo checked the Wild Wolf’s stats and felt that by using the surrounding terrain and objects like trees, and being careful, he could still take on a Wild Wolf alone.
Returning to the game, he passed through the massive crowd of players. Starting from the Level 6 Man-eating Flower area, the number of players dropped sharply. He no longer saw players everywhere.
Those grinding in the Level 6 monster area were mostly small teams, and many of these teams were temporarily formed.
There were many gaming guilds and groups in the Huaxia Region, but the number in Earl Town was even more staggering. The chance of randomly ending up in the same Earl Town as someone from the same guild was very slim.
Level 6 Man-eating Flowers had low attack power and barely moved, making them the preferred target for ranged classes nearby. But for Chen Mo, a Hunter, they weren’t good targets for leveling up.
He could throw his traps to attack them, but he would also be within the Man-eating Flowers’ attack range. Their attacks came from underground; terrain and obstacles were useless. Alone, Chen Mo couldn’t withstand many hits from the Man-eating Flowers.
Moving past the Man-eating Flower spawning area, Chen Mo arrived at the entrance to Wild Wolf Valley.
At this stage, most players were still around Level 5. Wild Wolves hit hard; a Level 5 player would die after just two or three hits. Most people wouldn’t come to Wild Wolf Valley to kill monsters. Seeing that there wasn’t a single person inside Wild Wolf Valley, only large numbers of Wild Wolves, Chen Mo didn’t find it strange.
Compared to Wild Wolves, Level 6 Man-eating Flowers were undoubtedly a better choice.
Chen Mo scanned Wild Wolf Valley and his eyes lit up.
Not far from the valley entrance, there was a large rock. He could easily kill Wild Wolves just like he had killed the Black Goblins!
Carefully moving near the rock, Chen Mo lured two Wild Wolves over, climbed onto the rock, and began attacking the Wild Wolves with ease.
Such a great grinding spot, and no one had discovered it yet. It seemed players in the game were still confined by traditional gaming mindsets; many didn’t know you could grind like this. Otherwise, this spot definitely wouldn’t be available for him.
But Chen Mo wasn’t kind enough to post on the forum to remind other players. Just earlier on the forum, he had seen many posts from players who, like him, didn’t start in a beginner village but appeared in Goblin Valley. These players were stuck in the valley and couldn’t get out, posting for help. Unfortunately, no one offered any viable solution.
Chen Mo knew he certainly wasn’t the only one who got out of Goblin Valley. But those who could get out of Goblin Valley weren’t simple characters. No one was willing to share their method and help their competitors.
Level 7 Wild Wolves didn’t have high Health Points, only 800 HP. But their Defense was clearly much higher than the Black Goblins Chen Mo had killed before. He suspected the Black Goblins had negative Defense, essentially no defense at all. The Wild Wolves in front of him probably had some Defense. After equipping the Goblin Shoes which increased Strength by 1 point, Chen Mo’s attack power was 8 points higher than when he killed the Black Goblins. But the damage he dealt was about 10 points lower per hit than when he fought the Black Goblins. Each Basic Trap he threw only took away a little over 40 HP from a Wild Wolf.
Having returned to the starter village, Chen Mo no longer conserved his Crossbow Bolts. When his skills were on cooldown, he used his Hand Crossbow to attack. Attacks with the Hand Crossbow without skills active only dealt a little over 20 damage to the Wild Wolves. But the accumulated damage wasn’t less than his skill attacks.
In just over a minute, the two Wild Wolves fell to the ground one after the other.
System Notification: You killed the monster Wild Wolf. You gained 100 Experience Points!
“Not bad experience. By this calculation, I can reach Level 5 in just twenty minutes.”
Chen Mo was quite satisfied with the Experience Points the Wild Wolves gave. Previously, when doing the Wild White Rabbit killing quest, including walking and fighting monsters, it took him six or seven minutes total, and he only got a little over 1000 Experience Points in the end. And that was with Da Qing Shan, that rich player, being there, so he didn’t waste time fighting for monsters. Otherwise, it would have taken even more time.
After killing the two Wild Wolves, Chen Mo jumped off the rock and continued to lure monsters. He deliberately tangled with the Wild Wolves on the way for a bit before jumping back onto the rock, to avoid triggering any special Aggro mechanics from the wolves.
Wild Wolves died one by one on the rock. Chen Mo’s experience bar soared. Soon, his experience bar reached over 70%. In another six or seven minutes, he would reach Level 5.
But then, three figures appeared at the entrance to Wild Wolf Valley.
Huìyuè Liúhén was the leader of a small gaming guild called Huìyuè Guild. Although he was called the leader, the number of active members in the guild was barely sixty or seventy, pitifully few.
Huìyuè Liúhén also wanted to make the guild bigger. But to gain fame, you had to become really powerful in popular, major games. However, in traditional games in the Huaxia Region, becoming powerful required spending money, lots of money. Huìyuè Liúhén naturally didn’t have that much money to throw around. So after several years, things remained the same.
But the emergence of the game “Genesis” gave him a bright ray of hope.
In the past, even if a gaming guild became famous in one game, outside of that game, very few people knew about it. Precisely because of this reason, Huìyuè Liúhén had never been willing to invest heavily.
But “Genesis” was different. From what Huìyuè Liúhén knew, almost all gaming guilds, big and small, in the Huaxia Region, had entered “Genesis.” Countless players from different games across Huaxia would also become fascinated with this game.
If you became famous in “Genesis,” you would truly make a name for yourself overnight!
Once you had fame, making money would be simple. The Huìyuè Guild would also grow stronger as a result.
Entering the game with excitement, Huìyuè Liúhén was pleasantly surprised to find that, besides him, two other members of the Huìyuè Guild were in the same Earl Town.
He was a Warrior; the other two were a Mage and an Archer. The trio could kill monsters above their level.
With their three-person combination, competing for a spot on the level rankings wasn’t impossible. If they could be the first to reach Level 10 and receive system rewards or announcements, it would be hard not to become famous.
With their trio, killing Man-eating Flowers already provided a decent leveling speed. But Huìyuè Liúhén, aiming for the level rankings, felt that if they stuck to killing Man-eating Flowers, at most in another twenty minutes, hordes of players would flood the area. Then he would still have to find another grinding spot. So Wild Wolf Valley, which was one level higher, became his alternative.
Unexpectedly, as soon as they arrived at Wild Wolf Valley, they saw a Hunter, standing on a rock, easily baiting two Wild Wolves below the rock.
The two Wild Wolves died one after the other. The Hunter on the rock hadn’t lost a single drop of blood!
Simple and fast!
You could actually kill monsters like this!
“Boss Huìyuè, let’s go grab that rock to kill monsters! Wild Wolves are Level 7; we could at least level up to Level 9 here!” The Mage in the trio couldn’t hold back.
“But you can’t PK kill players below Level 10. How do we chase that Hunter away?” The Archer was a bit hesitant.
“What’s so hard about that? We’ll just take all the monsters, and he’ll leave on his own!”
Huìyuè Liúhén said with a cold laugh.
It seemed heaven itself was helping him. It would be hard for the Huìyuè Guild not to rise up! With such a leveling sanctuary, his level was sure to lead far ahead!
Stealing monsters was something an experienced player like Huìyuè Liúhén could do easily. The three of them quickly moved to the rock. The rock could still fit one more person. The Mage climbed up. Then Huìyuè Liúhén and the Archer lured monsters from below. This way, Chen Mo, a Hunter without long-range attack methods, completely couldn’t compete for monsters. If he came down, the Archer would climb up and take his spot.
“I’ll leave it to you.” Chen Mo didn’t waste time with them. He jumped off the rock himself, found a spot in a corner not far away, and started grinding slowly alone.
“Haha, you know what’s good for you, kid!” Huìyuè Liúhén laughed heartily. He didn’t expect this Hunter to be so reasonable. He thought the guy might stubbornly refuse to leave and try to cause trouble.
Chen Mo just rolled his eyes upon hearing this and ignored him.
Damn, you really think it’s that easy to take my spot? Just wait, I’ll teach you a lesson later
