Chapter 59: The Tall Officer
Chapter 59: The Tall Officer
Tang Xier looked at Li Zian anxiously.
She remembered the set she had mentioned earlier.
She felt that what Li Zian needed was not that kind of set, but boxing gloves.
She just couldn’t understand how Li Zian, who was usually so gentle and handsome, could turn into a fierce beast when he fought.
After calling the police, Li Zian put away his Mobile Phone. He walked to the bedside and reached out to hold Kang Xin’s wrist. Her pulse was a bit fast, and he estimated her heart rate was at least over a hundred. He then pinched Kang Xin’s skull, sending out Zhenqi. The Zhenqi returned and brought back some information.
Kang Xin’s condition was serious, but it wasn’t life-threatening.
“Big brother, what… what are you doing?” Tang Xier walked in, still a bit nervous even now.
Li Zian withdrew his hand and replied, “I was checking her condition.”
If Kang Xin’s vital signs had been unstable or dangerous, he would have massaged her stomach to make her vomit and then called for emergency help. However, since Kang Xin was only unconscious, he decided not to do that. He wanted her to remain like this until the police arrived, letting them figure out how to wake her up. This way, he would avoid some explanations, and Kang Xin would also get a stronger impression, staying away from Scumbag Men from then on.
“Is… is she drunk?” Tang Xier asked.
Li Zian said, “She was drugged. These three guys were going to do that to her. I rushed over to save her.”
“Huh?” Tang Xier suddenly understood, as if waking from a dream. “So you… you weren’t here to get a room with me?”
Li Zian was stunned.
He originally wanted to say, “Why would I get a room with you?” but he suddenly felt that would sound hurtful. So he changed his words: “Tang Xier, if I did something like that, it would mean hurting you. You’re still young and pretty. Wait until you meet a man who truly loves you, then give your most precious thing to him. That’s the right way.”
Tang Xier stared at Li Zian. “You sound like my dad.”
Li Zian: “…”
“I’ll get some water for Kang Xin to drink.” Tang Xier wanted to do something to hide her embarrassment and disappointment.
Li Zian stopped her. “The police will be here soon. Don’t touch her.”
“Is she evidence?”
Li Zian nodded. “Yes.”
Just then, Tian Zhongshan caught his breath and mumbled, “Big brother, please don’t call the police. Name your price…”
Li Zian kicked him.
Tian Zhongshan opened his mouth wide but couldn’t make a sound. At least it was quiet now.
The Hotel security arrived before the police, several of them at once.
Li Zian explained the situation and said he would compensate for the Hotel’s losses. The security guards didn’t give him a hard time.
A few minutes later, the police arrived.
Li Zian explained the situation to the police again and showed them the evidence he had recorded on his Mobile Phone.
An officer took a simple on-site statement, then took Tian Zhongshan and the other two young men away. Based on the evidence Li Zian recorded and the scene they were caught in, these three would face criminal charges instead of just detention or similar penalties. Drugging a female university student and attempting a threesome meant the judge wouldn’t go easy on them in court. Even though it was attempted, they definitely couldn’t escape one or two years in prison.
Kang Xin was sent to the hospital.
Li Zian and Tang Xier were taken to the local Police Station to give further statements.
After completing the necessary procedures, it was already past midnight when they came out.
“I want to go see Kang Xin. I asked earlier, the hospital is just up ahead, not far. Come with me,” Tang Xier said.
Li Zian hesitated for a moment but then nodded and went with her to the hospital to see Kang Xin.
He actually wanted to go home, but he had saved Kang Xin and also beaten up her boyfriend badly. It wouldn’t be right not to meet her and explain.
The hospital really wasn’t far; they walked there in about ten minutes.
Li Zian asked a duty nurse and found Kang Xin’s room.
Kang Xin was already awake and receiving an IV drip. An officer was at her bedside taking her statement.
The officer was very young, probably in his twenties. He had a Square-Faced with delicate features. His tight-fitting uniform outlined a strong, well-proportioned physique, giving the impression at first glance of the kind of righteous character you’d see in TV dramas.
He looked handsome, but he still fell a bit short compared to Crescent Moon Village’s Wu Yanzu.
Li Zian recalled that this officer had also been at the Hotel earlier, but he wasn’t the one in charge then, and he hadn’t said much.
He guessed that he was probably a recent graduate from the police academy, a trainee officer assigned to a local station for experience. Otherwise, he wouldn’t still be here taking statements at this hour—these were tasks for regular officers.
As Li Zian and Tang Xier approached, the officer just finished taking the statement. He glanced at Li Zian, stood up, and walked toward the door. As he passed Li Zian, he said, “Come out with me. I want to talk to you.”
Li Zian was slightly surprised. “Talk about what?”
Tang Xier’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the young officer.
Was she already “shifting her affection”?
The young officer didn’t explain and walked directly past Li Zian, then went out the door.
Li Zian smiled wryly and followed.
After all, he was an officer.
When Li Zian stepped out, the officer was already waiting in the hallway.
Li Zian walked over to him.
“Are you Li Zian?” The officer looked at Li Zian, his voice carrying a natural seriousness.
Li Zian hummed in acknowledgment and didn’t say anything more. Standing in front of the other man, he noticed that the officer was a bit shorter than him but had a broader chest and well-developed muscles.
“My surname is Liu, Liu Jun.” Even though Li Zian didn’t ask, the officer introduced himself.
Li Zian said politely, “Hello, Officer Liu.”
Liu Jun said, “I’d like to talk with you for a bit. Is that okay?”
Li Zian nodded. “What do you want to talk about, Officer Liu?”
Liu Jun paused for a moment before speaking. “From what I understand, your actions this time count as a brave deed. You did a good thing, but your method was wrong.”
Li Zian just listened.
Liu Jun continued, “Do you know what you did wrong?”
Li Zian actually knew but didn’t say, just looked at him.
Liu Jun said, “You beat those three so badly that each of them lost teeth. Luckily, your evidence helped. If you hadn’t had evidence, they could have counter-sued you. Have you thought about that consequence?”
Li Zian nodded.
Inside, he disagreed. If he hadn’t had evidence, would he have fought them?
But the other person was an officer, and it seemed he meant well by reminding him, so arguing was pointless.
“I checked your registered information earlier. You live in Gaochen Yipin?”
“Yes, I live there.”
“People who can live there are not ordinary. You’re someone with status and position. Why would you take a female university student to that kind of place and coincidentally save Kang Xin? I’ve been curious about that. Can you tell me?” Liu Jun stared at Li Zian, his gaze sharp as if it could see through people’s thoughts.
Li Zian also looked at Liu Jun and couldn’t help but feel like using the Anatomy Physiognomy Technique to “scan” him.
Their eyes met.
Two Handsome Guys.
In the hallway, two night-shift nurses stopped and watched Li Zian and Liu Jun.
The nurses’ looks seemed to be guessing whether these two Handsome Guys, who looked like supermodels, might suddenly kiss at some point.
After a few seconds, Li Zian smiled. “I already said this at the Police Station, but since you asked, Officer Liu, I’ll say it again. I asked Tang Xier to take me to find Kang Xin. I saw those Scumbag Men putting drugs in Kang Xin’s drink, so I followed them to the Hotel and saved her.”
“So, you actually could have stopped Tian Zhongshan’s crime earlier, right?”
“What exactly do you want to say, Officer Liu?”
Liu Jun said, “You actually know what I want to say, but what I really mean is, having ability is one thing, but if your luck is just a little bit bad, you will end up in trouble yourself. It’s not worth it for that kind of person. I know your real thoughts and motives, but this time I won’t expose them. After all, you did a good thing—it can also be considered eliminating a scourge for the people.”
Li Zian was slightly stunned. This officer was not simple!
“Alright, you can go in and check on Kang Xin now. I should be going too,” Liu Jun said.
“Take care, Officer Liu,” Li Zian said politely, then returned to the hospital room.
Tang Xier was peeling an apple for Kang Xin.
On the bedside table, there was a bag of fruit containing apples and pears, probably brought by Liu Jun when he came.
Kang Xin looked at Li Zian, her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, no words came out.
However, Li Zian saw gratitude and self-blame in her eyes. He asked, “Are you feeling better?”
Kang Xin nodded. “I’m better. That… thank you.”
Li Zian smiled. “It’s good that you’re okay, but you really need to learn from this. Don’t get involved with those scumbag men anymore.”
Kang Xin gave a slight pout. “Got it, Uncle.”
Li Zian was taken aback and said in surprise, “You called me Uncle?”
Kang Xin replied, “The way you talk is just like my dad. It’s not wrong for me to call you Uncle, right?”
Li Zian: “…”
Tang Xier laughed and said, “Uncle, do you want an apple? I’ll peel one for you.”
Li Zian rolled his eyes at her.
A smile also appeared on Kang Xin’s face. “I was just joking, don’t mind it. After this, I won’t do anything stupid again. Those people are really dirty.”
“As long as you understand,” Li Zian said.
“By the way, how did you know I was in danger, and why did you specifically bring Xier to save me?” Kang Xin asked.
“Didn’t I do a fortune-telling for you earlier? When I left, I ran into Tang Xier. She said it might be your boyfriend calling to meet you. I figured that scumbag man wouldn’t have good intentions, so I asked Tang Xier to bring me to find you,” Li Zian explained.
“Luckily, you and Xier were there, or else I would have…” Kang Xin’s expression darkened. The thought of those three men, as disgusting as maggots—even imagining what could have happened made her sick to her stomach. If it had actually happened, she probably would never have been able to escape that horrible shadow.
Li Zian comforted her, “Don’t overthink it. It’s all over now. Those three guys will be prosecuted. Just be more careful about who you befriend from now on.”
Kang Xin bit her lip and nodded, still looking at Li Zian.
Li Zian asked, “Should I call Professor Kang for you?”
“No, I don’t want him to know about this. Earlier, Officer Liu also asked if I wanted to notify my dad, but I stopped him from calling,” Kang Xin said.
“Alright then. Since you’re okay, I should head back,” Li Zian said, preparing to leave.
“You’re leaving already?” Kang Xin’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment.
Li Zian said, “There’s only a child and an elderly person at home. I need to go back; otherwise, if something happens, there’s no one to take care of them. Well, no more talking. I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
He turned and walked away.
The two girls watched his retreating figure.
“Kang Xin, who do you think is more handsome, Uncle Li or that officer?”
“Um, Uncle Li, I guess.”
“I think so too. It’s a pity he already has a child, otherwise I’d definitely have a chance.”
Kang Xin rolled her eyes.
“Kang Xin, let me tell you something.”
“What is it?”
“Back at the bar, Uncle Li took me to a hotel room. I was so excited…”
“Oh my gosh, did you two sleep together?”
“We did.”
Kang Xin pouted. “You’re lying.”
Tang Xier sighed. “I’m not that kind of woman. Uncle Li wanted to, but I didn’t give in. I know he was really sad and disappointed, but I’m like the wind—I’m not someone you can easily win over.”
Kang Xin couldn’t be bothered to expose such a boast and simply said, “Talk normally.”
Tang Xier shrugged. “Alright then. Uncle Li followed us all the way to the hotel. After Tian Zhongshan took you into the room, Uncle Li kicked the door open and charged in, then kicked one of the scumbag men flying. His moves were like something out of a kung fu movie—so incredibly cool…”
Kang Xin listened quietly. Tang Xier’s storytelling skills were exceptionally bad, and she even got spit droplets on Kang Xin’s face, but Kang Xin still listened with great interest.
It was the best story she had ever heard in her life.
