Lan Mu kept Du Yu outside the door and had no intention of dealing with him at all.
Su Yue noticed Lan Mu had returned home and came out of her room to say, “Brother Mu, someone was looking for you. He wanted to come in about two hours ago.”
“I know, he’s still at the door.”
Lan Mu curled his lips, took Su Yue’s hand and said, “The new apartment is booked. We’re moving tomorrow. We don’t have much stuff, just pack what you usually need.”
“Also, I already ate, so you don’t need to make any for me.”
After giving a few instructions, Lan Mu took out his phone and searched online for office supplies and equipment.
He found a website and ordered devices like a high-definition editing machine, an edit controller, a special effects switcher, and a character generator.
He also bought several monitors, and had the computer and special effects compression cards he ordered earlier delivered to the new studio address.
After sorting out this equipment, another fifty thousand disappeared from his account.
His account balance was only about thirty thousand left, less than he expected. What could he do with thirty thousand? It would be good enough to cover the studio’s expenses for a month.
Not to mention he hadn’t bought any home appliances yet. If he bought more miscellaneous things, he probably couldn’t even afford to hire staff.
Even if they were acquaintances, he still had to pay wages, right?
“Brother Mu! Brother Mu!”
Du Yu was still outside the door, shamelessly knocking and disrupting Lan Mu’s thoughts.
Annoyed, Lan Mu rushed over and opened the door, saying, “Stop shouting!”
“What exactly do you want?”
Seeing Lan Mu open the door, Du Yu grinned and said, “Teach me that peerless archery? I don’t need to learn much, just teach me the multi-shot technique.”
Before Lan Mu could refuse, Du Yu shouted, “One million tuition! Brother Mu, I truly admire you! Please teach me!”
It wasn’t that Lan Mu lacked principles. When he heard “one million tuition,” his heart did waver for a moment.
But he quickly gave up on the idea of making money this way. Not to mention other reasons, even if he wanted to teach, he couldn’t. It was a matter of talent.
“I can’t! You should go.” Lan Mu sighed and refused.
Du Yu said disappointedly, “Don’t be like that! How about this… Brother Mu, name your price. I’m sincerely asking.”
“It’s not about money. I can’t teach you. Also, don’t spread around that I can shoot arrows. Goodbye.”
Lan Mu tried to close the door, but Du Yu still wouldn’t give up and blocked the doorframe with his hand.
“Brother Mu, with your skills, what can’t you do? Why stay in such a dump?”
Du Yu persuaded, “I know you recently lost your job, but so what? Forget about it!”
“I know someone whose archery isn’t even as good as yours. He’s a founding member of the Forest Club, with seventeen percent of the shares. When he has time, he organizes trips for club members. Originally, club activities were free since everyone paid the annual fee, but whenever he leads the trip, there’s an appearance fee. Each person pays per head, thirty thousand per person.”
“See, he only leads a trip for about seven or eight days and earns hundreds of thousands. With your skills, Brother Mu, you could earn just as much!”
Lan Mu raised an eyebrow, coughed, and said, “What do you mean? Just say it directly.”
Du Yu smiled and said, “That person I just mentioned, his name is Fang Moqi. I used to think he was the most awesome archer, but after seeing you shoot, I realized there’s always someone better. Brother Mu, just in terms of archery, your skills are way ahead of his.”
“I’m a member of the Forest Club. I usually like to seek some thrills. I once went with Fang Moqi’s team to Africa. It was awesome! Since then, I’ve become fascinated with the hunter profession. That feeling of challenging limits and nature in the wilderness is just too cool. Unfortunately, I don’t know what Fang Moqi has been busy with since then. He never leads trips anymore. People in our club are always hoping he’ll organize an activity. The appearance fee has even gone up to one hundred thousand per person, but he still hasn’t responded to us.”
“That day when I was bored, after seeing your godly shooting, I thought you must be a master hiding in the city. Even if I can’t learn your unique skills, I’d still like to follow you to broaden my horizons. Just say the word, Brother Mu. The world is so big. You name it—an uninhabited deserted island, the African grasslands, or the Tropical Rainforest?”
Lan Mu held his head and barely managed to listen to Du Yu’s speech, finally understanding his meaning.
“You sure talk a lot! I roughly get what you mean.”
“You want to invite me to lead a team, right? Is there really no one else who can lead without Fang Moqi?”
Du Yu explained, “Well, it’s not that. It’s just that Fang Moqi himself is a legend. His wilderness survival experiences are considered master-level. He’s been to countless extreme places worldwide. Without him leading, we only do small, casual activities, which are too boring. We still want to go to more dangerous and exciting places. Unfortunately, without him leading, the club doesn’t dare organize such extreme survival activities.”
“But I can? Even if my archery is good, extreme survival isn’t just about shooting arrows. I haven’t been to any of those places you mentioned. Without enough experience, and having to lead you all, I might not be able to handle it, right?” Lan Mu spread his hands and said.
“This… Brother Mu, do you really not have any wilderness survival skills at all?” Du Yu asked, stunned.
“I have some skills, I just lack experience.” Lan Mu was actually quite interested, thinking about the appearance fee. That’s why he didn’t shut it down completely.
Hearing this, Du Yu was delighted and said, “That’s great! I’ll go back and tell everyone. Brother Mu, wait for my news!”
With that, he hurriedly tried to leave.
Lan Mu was taken aback and quickly called out to him, “Don’t rush! I haven’t agreed yet!”
“I don’t have any specific demands for the appearance fee, you all can decide. But I have two other conditions.”
Du Yu nodded and said, “Go ahead.”
“One, I want to film this activity as a live Documentary. I want full copyright. Everyone participating must sign relevant agreements with my studio.”
“No problem! Brother Mu, you opened a studio? For wilderness survival? Can I be in it?” Du Yu exclaimed excitedly.
“Don’t interrupt!” Lan Mu had a headache; this guy talked way too much!
Seeing Du Yu shut up, Lan Mu continued, “Two, this is my first time leading, so I don’t want too many people. Maximum ten people, no more.”
Lan Mu was afraid he couldn’t manage. After all, he had never done such an activity before. If a big group followed him to a place like a primeval forest and one or two got lost or injured, the trouble would still land on him.
“Good! Leave it to me!”
Watching Du Yu leave, Lan Mu breathed a sigh of relief.
Actually, he didn’t want to agree to such a high-profile thing as Du Yu suggested, but he really needed money.
With a naive rich guy like this insisting on handing him money, he couldn’t help it. Moreover, he remembered his previous idea of making a Documentary. This way, he could use this opportunity to both earn money and film a wilderness survival record.
