Chapter 82: The Heat Was A Bit Too Much
Back at the ranch, after carrying his sleeping daughter out of the car, Liu Heming’s heart was filled with guilt.
The little girl slightly opened her eyes. Seeing that she was in her dad’s arms, she let out a small yawn and wrapped her little arms tighter around Liu Heming’s neck.
Liu Heming kicked the still soundly sleeping Bear Kids. For them, no matter what the environment was like, they slept whenever they wanted.
The Bear Kids were sleeping very deeply. Actually, these past few days had been really exhausting for them too. But it wasn’t from working hard; it was from playing too much. At the restaurant, lots of people played with them. Everyone knew now that they were well-behaved bear cubs, so there was a ton of interaction with them.
However, they had their own strengths. Once they woke up, they were full of energy. They climbed out of the car very quickly, and Xiong Er even helped Liu Heming close the car door.
Liu Heming, carrying his daughter and leading the Bear Kids, walked into the house. He didn’t expect Sasha to still be in the living room reading a book today. He didn’t know if she was waiting for them, perhaps to scold him for his “mistreatment” of their daughter over the past few days.
“It’s very late, why aren’t you resting yet?” Liu Heming asked, feeling a bit guilty.
“Alex hasn’t taken a bath for several days,” Sasha said, putting down her book and looking at Liu Heming.
Liu Heming felt extremely embarrassed. Only when Sasha mentioned it did he remember that he had really forgotten to have the little one take a bath these past few days. They came back very late, and he didn’t want to disturb the child’s sleep. The little girl was almost a dirty kid now.
“How has your business been lately?” Sasha asked casually as she took the little girl into her arms.
“It’s alright. I’ll start hiring workers tomorrow. From now on, I only need to prepare the minced meat and marinated meat at home. I won’t have to handle the rest. Lewis will help take care of things over there. From now on, the little one won’t have to run around with me either,” Liu Heming quickly replied.
He felt lucky that he had thought about his future business operations today. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have known what to say to Sasha. Right now, Sasha held all the power. Whether he could have fun with his daughter depended entirely on her.
Thankfully, Sasha didn’t say anything else. She just carried their daughter upstairs to give her a bath.
The two Bear Kids nearby were a bit confused. They didn’t understand why their boss’s aura was so weak just now; normally, he was very strong.
They were animals and had sharp senses; it was their instinct. But how could they know that when facing Sasha, who was both the creditor and the big boss, Liu Heming always felt guilty.
It wasn’t like Liu Heming could just wash up and go to sleep after returning. Charming Girl was still waiting for him to tidy up. This task couldn’t be left to Sasha or Robin; it was his own job.
Seeing Liu Heming come in with the two Bear Kids, Charming Girl snorted. This was her way of greeting him. Liu Heming added some more forage for her. After all, Charming Girl was expecting a baby and needed to pay attention to her nutrition now.
Charming Girl was really familiar with him now. Although she couldn’t move around freely, while Liu Heming was adding forage, she still stretched her head into his embrace and rubbed against him.
“Alright, alright, it’s too late today. I’ll give you a bath tomorrow morning too. For the sake of your future horse life, you still have to hang in there. Even if you can’t run freely in the future, you should still be able to take care of yourself.” Liu Heming rubbed Charming Girl’s neck as he spoke.
Charming Girl wasn’t feeling very comfortable right now either. The hanging bags were somewhat tight and uncomfortable. But she was very well-behaved and never acted out willfully. Liu Heming really admired her for that. He felt that if it were him being hung up like that all the time, he definitely wouldn’t put up with it.
“You two greedy bears, can you even get used to eating this dried grass?” Liu Heming said, turning around, feeling both amused and exasperated.
The two Bear Kids had actually taken the opportunity while he wasn’t paying attention to try and see what this Alfalfa Grass tasted like. If it were fresh, maybe it’d be okay, but this was dried grass prepared for Charming Girl. What flavor could they possibly get from it?
This Alfalfa Grass was a delicious treat in Charming Girl’s mouth, but in the Bear Kids’ mouths, it really wasn’t that great. It tasted far worse than the meat and vegetables Liu Heming usually prepared for them. The two Bear Kids spat the grass out disdainfully, then looked at Liu Heming pitifully.
“Fine, go find something to eat in the vegetable garden yourselves. But you can’t eat too much, and you can’t just take a bite and then throw the rest away,” Liu Heming said, patting the two Bear Kids’ heads.
He really didn’t have much energy left to take them for a vegetable snack. Lately, the Bear Kids had been eating a lot of Dumplings and Rougamo, but not many vegetables, so they needed to supplement that. Actually, he knew that the Bear Kids often sneaked over to steal Cucumbers. Luckily, they didn’t cause random damage like other bears, so he pretended not to know.
Leaving the Bear Kids to themselves, Liu Heming went back into the house and washed up briefly. Sometimes he thought that if it weren’t for the System enhancing his physical fitness, he probably wouldn’t have been able to hold on these past couple of days.
Feeling a bit thirsty, he wanted to drink a glass of milk to quench his thirst. But as soon as he stepped out of his room, he was dazzled by Sasha.
He didn’t know if the mother and daughter had bathed together, but Sasha was now wearing a bathrobe. What dazzled his eyes were her two smooth, long legs under the robe. Sasha was tall and beautiful, and those two long legs were even more captivating.
Liu Heming wasn’t a saint; he had his own desires and emotions. He was instantly captivated by those two long legs. His gaze traveled up along the bathrobe and was then drawn to the glimpse of her chest revealed by the robe.
Sasha probably hadn’t expected Liu Heming to still be up after all this time, so she had let her guard down. Now, being stared at so intensely by Liu Heming made her feel uncomfortable.
Meeting Sasha’s gaze, Liu Heming awkwardly touched his nose. He didn’t know where to look—looking down wasn’t right, looking up wasn’t right either. In the end, he settled for the classic forty-five-degree angle.
“Ahem.” Sasha cleared her throat lightly. “Many of the vegetables in your garden have ripened. I ate a Tomato today; it was very sweet.”
After saying this, Sasha also felt a bit annoyed. She should have sternly warned him. How could she remind him in such a soft tone?
“Mm, good. Eat whatever you want. Um, I’m going downstairs to drink some milk.” After saying this, Liu Heming didn’t dare delay any longer and somewhat flustered, he ran downstairs.
He drank nearly half a bucket of milk from the fridge in one go. The heat was a bit too much; he needed the milk to cool down. However, he still felt somewhat thirsty. The fire in his heart was too burning.
