Chapter 78: The Feeling of Home

George was responsible for notifying the townspeople. Liu Heming originally planned to invite Sasha and Robin to come play at the restaurant, but they both refused.

Liu Heming did not push them too hard, as they were only husband and wife in name. Anyway, as long as his daughter could come and play with him, that was better than anything.

When they arrived at the restaurant again, Alex and the bear cubs were immediately surrounded by the three waitresses. In fact, the two bear cubs seemed even more popular than Alex. Liu Heming had brought the two Bear Cubs here before, and they had already charmed Daisy and all the waitresses back then.

“Alright, listen to me first. We will officially open for business at noon today, and you all have your own tasks. After making recommendations, help me ask why they chose not to pick the food I cooked.” Liu Heming clapped his hands and spoke to the three waitresses.

“Also, I want to formally introduce this beautiful Little Angel—my daughter, Alex. Today, she will also be helping me work here.”

“Hello, everyone,” Alex greeted everyone politely.

She was the role model for the Bear Cubs. Seeing her wave, the two Bear Cubs also stretched out their bear paws and wagged them nonstop beside her.

“Haha, actually, you don’t need to introduce her. Just by looking at Alex’s hair and eyes, they can tell she’s your daughter,” Daisy said with a laugh.

“Today, we will not only offer free coffee to everyone but also provide Beer. We must sell more Dumplings and Chinese Hamburgers today.”

“Dexter, you’re really not being fair. You were already selling here yesterday and didn’t even tell me in advance,” Anderson said as he walked in from outside.

“You have no idea what we went through yesterday—we didn’t have a single customer visit me. I wasn’t in the mood to notify everyone,” Liu Heming shrugged and said.

“You know what? That’s exactly why you didn’t call me over. Don’t worry, I’ll close my shop today and work as a free waiter for you. You just need to cover my lunch and dinner,” Anderson said smugly.

“Of course, no problem. Amelia, your team has a new member today. Make sure to take good care of him,” Liu Heming said with a smile.

Anderson was the type who seemed cold on the outside but was warm-hearted inside. He was clearly trying to help him out.

Just as he finished setting up the tools and placed the pot on the stove, John also arrived. “Dexter, I’ve already finished processing those blades. I was wondering why you hadn’t come over these past couple of days. So our Little Angel Alex is here.”

“Thank you, John. After we’re done here, I still have many questions to ask you. I plan to make myself a set of handy kitchen tools, and I’ll need your guidance,” Liu Heming said as he walked over and gave John a hug.

John could be considered his benefactor. He helped him activate the manufacturing System and even taught him how to forge Horseshoes, allowing him to complete tasks quickly.

To be honest, seeing all these people put aside their own tasks to come and help him, Liu Heming felt deeply moved.

Before, even though his relationship with them was okay, he always saw himself as an outsider, a passerby. Even though he would live here in the future, and George would often murmur “revitalize Xiangshui Town” in his ear, he never truly considered himself a resident of Xiangshui Town.

Staying here to make a living was for his daughter—it was forced. But now, being here, he truly felt everyone’s care for him. In this foreign land, George and the others did not treat him differently, and for the first time, he felt a sense of belonging, like home.

“Dexter, come quick and see how pretty Alex looks,” Daisy called out to Liu Heming.

Liu Heming turned to look, and oh my—a small, modified Chef hat sat on his daughter’s head, and she wore a little apron. Paired with her big smile, she was just too adorable.

The two bear cubs did not escape the girls’ clutches either—they were also dressed up by the girls. However, the little aprons tied around their bodies looked more like napkins, given their round, chubby figures.

“Not bad. Looks like we can have them push the Food Truck to deliver meals to customers in the future,” Liu Heming joked.

Liu Heming brought over a chair and had the little one stand on it so that her upper body was visible above the cooking station. She giggled happily.

The Bear Cubs, however, were a bit of a hassle. They were very greedy, and whenever they caught the scent of the Braised Marinated Meat nearby, they would sneak away. Liu Heming had no choice but to let them down and let them play with the girls. He originally wanted them to be lucky charm bears, but it seemed that wasn’t going to work out.

“George, could you help me greet the townspeople when they arrive later? I’m afraid I might be too busy making Dumplings and overlook everyone,” Liu Heming said to George.

“Leave it to me. Megan and I will help you out later. Our goal is simple—today, we aim to break zero,” George said, waving his hand.

Everyone was amused by George. That goal wasn’t very ambitious, but compared to yesterday’s situation, it still posed some difficulty.

There were many people coming today—it was Liu Heming’s first time treating all the townspeople to a meal. Naturally, he wanted everyone to eat well and be full, so he needed to make a lot more Dumplings.

Amelia and the others didn’t just stand by and watch. Since there were basically no customers in the morning anyway, they gathered around to help him wrap Dumplings.

Wrapping Dumplings was actually quite simple. There was no need to pinch fancy edges on the Dumpling wrappers; as long as the filling was placed inside and pinched firmly so it didn’t leak, it was fine. The girls quickly got the hang of wrapping Dumplings, but rolling out the wrappers stumped them. Trying to roll them out as round as Liu Heming did was really hard.

“Actually, it just takes practice. When you have free time in the future, I can teach you. I’ll also pay you some wages then,” Liu Heming said with a laugh.

“Oh my, Dexter, you can’t poach my employees like that,” Lewis complained playfully from the side.

“Hmph, I’m definitely going to do it. But there’s one condition—it has to be after my food becomes popular,” Liu Heming shrugged and said.

Relying on himself alone definitely wouldn’t work. He still had things to do at the Ranch, and he would need to hire people eventually. These three girls were also kids from the town, and their salaries here weren’t high. If business picked up in the future, it would also help them earn some extra income.
