Chapter 55: A Small Conflict

Looking at the food supplies at home, they were running low again. There was no choice when dealing with big eaters like the Bear Kids. After thinking about it, since there was nothing to do these two days, it was better to go to the town early for some shopping.

The Bear Kids really enjoyed car rides. Even though they were small now, they loved sitting in the front seat. The way the two Bear Kids propped themselves up with their front paws to look outside was very much like little puppies.

Anderson was very happy to see Liu Heming come in. Now that there were Bear Kids, although Liu Heming still often bought instant noodles, he also bought relatively more chicken and beef, so Anderson could make a bit more money too.

“Haha, kids, come over here,” Anderson waved at the Bear Kids.

The Bear Kids gave him face and ran over, then obediently sat beside him.

“Anderson, it looks like you’ll have to find them something to eat,” Liu Heming said with a smile.

“Oh my, it seems like I’m going to lose money today,” Anderson said gloomily.

This was his habitual complaint. After complaining, he still gave each Bear Kid a chicken leg. Unlike at home where Liu Heming would cook it for them, the Bear Kids didn’t mind and ate it heartily.

“Dexter, you should really come to my place often to shop, that way the food will be fresh,” Anderson said to Liu Heming while checking him out.

“Your place is too far, and I feel bad about the gas,” Liu Heming shook his head.

“Don’t worry, add as much as you want, I’ll give you a discount,” Anderson said with a smile.

“In the end, you still benefit. I’m not falling for that. When I have money someday, I’ll definitely come to your place often, and you can’t charge me too much then.”

Anderson shook his head helplessly. It was really hard to make extra money off Liu Heming.

Just as he was carrying the things out, he heard a faint rumbling sound coming from the distance. After putting the things in the trunk, Liu Heming looked toward the rear of the car and saw a line of motorcycles driving over grandly. There were more than twenty of them.

The riders on the bikes didn’t look like people to mess with. They should be the legendary biker gang. They all wore leather jackets with lots of chains hanging on them. They didn’t even wear helmets, only sunglasses.

The Bear Cubs had never seen motorcycles before. When they saw these motorcycles approaching, they weren’t scared at all. Instead, they were curious and ran straight to the back of the car to sit and watch.

“Hey, are those your bears? How much? Sell them to me,” Liu Heming had just picked up the two Bear Cubs and hadn’t straightened up yet when the lead Jockey actually stopped.

“Sorry, these are my adopted ones, and the paperwork is already done,” Liu Heming said with a smile.

“How about three hundred US Dollars?” the Jockey said, smiling.

Liu Heming frowned. In his eyes, the Jockey’s smile wasn’t very likable, and even though he had clearly refused, the Jockey still persisted.

“I’m really sorry, they’re already registered with the Wildlife Management Bureau. If you like them, you can go there to adopt,” Liu Heming said, holding back his anger even though he was upset. They had numbers on their side, so he couldn’t start a conflict with them.

“Hey, I’m going to a birthday party and need a birthday gift. Sell me one. I’ll give you five hundred US Dollars,” the Jockey said, even taking out his wallet from his pocket.

“Sorry, they’re two brothers. You should hurry and find another birthday gift,” Liu Heming said again.

After speaking, he headed straight for the car door, not wanting to keep dealing with them.

“Haha, Monroe, put away your pitiful dollars,” a mocking voice came from behind.

After that comment, the other Jockeys started jeering too. Liu Heming felt that things were about to go wrong today.

A loud “bang” made Liu Heming, who had just opened the car door, stop. He felt the car shake.

But he held back, put the Bear Cubs inside the car, and closed the door. Then a hand reached from behind him and rested on his car door.

Liu Heming turned around and saw it was the same Jockey from before.

“Friend, it’s not too late to agree now. Five hundred US Dollars is a lot, but I want to buy both of them,” Monroe said, staring at Liu Heming.

“I said I’m not selling. If you keep bothering me, I’ll call the police,” Liu Heming told him.

“Hahaha, you mean call the police? Do you need me to lend you my mobile phone? Country bumpkin, now you only have two choices. One is to sell me both Bear Cubs, the other is I beat you up and you give me the Bear Cubs,” Monroe said mockingly.

People like them had seen all kinds of folks, and they could tell at a glance who could be messed with and who couldn’t. And someone like Liu Heming, in their eyes, was an easy target.

“Sorry, I won’t give them away, and I won’t sell them either,” Liu Heming said, raising his hand to push Monroe’s hand away.

He was a bit nervous too, but he knew he couldn’t appear weak at this moment, or else these guys might cause even more trouble.

But his current choice didn’t seem to be the best one. He had pushed Monroe’s hand away, and the jeering from the other Jockeys grew louder. He could clearly see Monroe’s face start to stiffen.

Monroe was really angry and embarrassed. He hadn’t expected this easy target to refuse him. Actually, if it weren’t for the camera at the convenience store entrance, they would have just taken the bears by force.

Now Monroe was beyond angry, not caring about the camera anymore. He directly punched Liu Heming in the face.

The punch landed solidly. Liu Heming felt his head buzz with a “hum.”

He had never been in a fight in his life. Suddenly being hit like this, a surge of rage welled up from deep inside him. Without thinking, he punched Monroe hard in the ribs.

Maybe the old Liu Heming was truly an easy target, but now Liu Heming had improved a bit in strength. He might still be weaker compared to those with robust builds, but his punch now had some power behind it.

As for Monroe, he never expected Liu Heming to fight back. According to his habit of bullying people, one punch usually settled everything.

Liu Heming struck out in anger, naturally using all his strength. The spot he hit was Monroe’s ribs. Even though Monroe was taller, Liu Heming had a good angle for that hit.

After that punch, Monroe immediately hunched over in pain.
