Chapter 183: Cultivating Amelia
Chapter 183: Cultivating Amelia
Liu Heming was completely helpless against this chicken thief. He could only temporarily restrict his little chickens’ freedom and let them wander around in the yard.
After finishing the work at the ranch, Liu Heming went to the restaurant. He had thought about it for two days and felt the food truck business still had great potential. He needed to discuss it with Amelia to see if she could go and help him expand the market.
“The situation is just like this, and the matter is just like that. So I plan to send you with one other person to Houston to manage this food truck. After you go there, Jack will help find an apartment, so you don’t need to worry about accommodation. What do you think?” Liu Heming said after explaining the general situation to Amelia.
“Boss, why such an important move all of a sudden?” Amelia said with a bitter smile after a moment of silence.
“This is a good thing. If our food truck operates well, then we can launch a second one soon. If it continues to perform excellently, we can even expand to other cities,” Liu Heming said with a smile.
“Right now, it seems our pancakes and rougamo are quite popular. I think this business is very promising. The only thing to consider is the staff operating the food truck—it will be very hard work. Every day, you won’t just be working on the truck; you’ll also need to handle ingredient procurement and preparation.”
“If it weren’t for the recent influx of people at home, I should have gone with you to get things set up. But right now, I’m the only one at home who can make Boiled Fish in Chili Oil, and it brings in several thousand US dollars every day. It’s a bit hard to let that go.”
“Even though you’ll be in Houston, Jack will be there to assist you. He’ll help with many matters. Pay close attention, because in the future, when we expand to other cities, you might have to handle things on your own.”
“Salary, Boss, how much will you pay us?” Amelia asked after thinking for a moment.
“That’s a question. What salary do you expect?” Liu Heming asked with a smile.
“Boss, of course I hope for as much as possible. But I don’t know how well our pancakes and Chinese-style Burger will sell in Houston. Also, we have very high requirements for ingredients. I’m worried that preparing too much might lead to waste,” Amelia said with a bitter smile.
She was truly tempted. After selling rougamo and pancakes for so long, she knew how much profit there was in it. And her boss probably wouldn’t shortchange her on the salary.
However, there was one problem: she had never been so far away from home or lived in another city.
At the restaurant, all she had to do was make and sell; she didn’t have to worry about anything else. Even if there were extra ingredients like Braised Marinated Meat or Soy-Braised Beef, everyone would share and use them up. But in Houston, she would have to make all the decisions herself, which put a lot of pressure on her.
“I plan to price our Chinese-style Burger at 4 US dollars each, with a profit of a little over 2 US dollars. The basic pancake set I plan to price at 6 US dollars, which has a higher profit—about 3.5 US dollars,” Liu Heming said after some thought.
“If we calculate based on selling 300 Chinese-style Burgers and 400 basic pancake sets per day, our daily profit would be around 2000 US dollars. That comes to 60,000 US dollars per month.”
“Your rent will be about 1500 US dollars, which isn’t much compared to our expected revenue. So, I don’t plan to give you a fixed salary. You can earn 11% of the food truck’s net profit each month, and the person you take with you will get 8% of the net profit. What do you think?”
“Oh my gosh, Boss, have you gone crazy?” Amelia exclaimed in surprise after a moment of stunned silence.
Amelia was truly unsettled because she knew that if they were successful, making 60,000 US dollars a month would be easy—just look at the current sales here.
Even calculating based on just 60,000 US dollars in profit, she could earn 6,600 US dollars a month. As for food expenses, when you’re selling food, do you even need to worry about that?
“Don’t get too excited too soon. I think this is probably the maximum workload you can handle for now. Unless you can improve your efficiency, trying to sell more would be exhausting,” Liu Heming added.
“OK, Boss, leave this matter to me,” Amelia said happily, nodding.
“Who do you plan to take with you, Bella or Eileen?” Liu Heming asked after nodding.
“Bella. Eileen can help manage the restaurant here,” Amelia said after thinking for a while.
“Then it’s settled. Go talk to them. Take one day off to explain the situation to your families. The day after tomorrow, you’ll go to Houston with Jack,” Liu Heming said with a smile, handing Amelia a check for 30,000 US dollars.
In his heart, he also intended for Amelia to take Bella. He needed to keep someone capable here to hold things down; otherwise, he would have to go himself and deal with the stress.
“Boss, aren’t you afraid I’ll run off with this money? And aren’t you worried I might falsify accounts every month?” Amelia stared at Liu Heming, very curious.
“Why should I worry about that? There’s no need. For me, at most, I’d lose a little—just 30,000 US dollars. But for you? How much would you lose? Both the Braised Marinated Meat and the sauce for Soy-Braised Beef need to be made here and shipped to you. Even if you wanted to start your own business, it would be hard to match the taste we have here,” Liu Heming said with a grin.
“Oh my gosh, Boss, I feel like crying and insisting on marrying you, just like Nina,” Amelia said with a laugh.
“Go on, how dare you joke with your boss?” Liu Heming glared at her.
Nina’s antics here had become a topic everyone used to tease him. Mainly because that girl didn’t care about the occasion or who was around.
After going outside, Liu Heming got in his car and drove away. The remaining matters were for Amelia to handle. If his food truck business really succeeded, he would entrust all future food trucks to her management.
Compared to the current salary, the future earnings would be much greater. He had only hinted at this to Amelia, believing the clever girl would figure it out. This was also a way to cultivate her; whether she could make big money in the future would depend on her own abilities.
The money he had saved recently was flowing out like water. It seemed like he earned a lot, but he spent it just as freely. Truthfully, even he only thought it was likely to succeed—he didn’t have absolute confidence.
When he returned to the ranch, he frowned.
