Chapter 172: The Strict Mother Bear
Chapter 172: The Strict Mother Bear
This was home, the Bear Kids’ territory. They just wanted to play freely, but the bear behind them roared loudly. The roar was loud, but the animals in the ranch were not scared at all. The chickens, ducks, geese, cows, and pigs all kept eating and drinking as usual. They didn’t have time to care about what was happening over here.
Liu Heming walked over to the Big Bear and patted its body in a friendly way. “You will stay here from now on. Be good. Don’t roar randomly. Even if you don’t scare people, it’s not good to scare the plants and flowers.”
“You will have enough food and drink every day, so don’t think about hunting these small animals. Your body probably still needs more time to recover. I will give you an extra meal later.”
“You really are something. Why are you talking like Alex?” Sasha said with annoyance.
“Well… I was afraid it wouldn’t understand. It might be the mother of the Bear Cubs, so I brought it back. But that Baby Alligator was something Alex liked. I didn’t want to bring it back,” Liu Heming quickly explained.
“Ah, alligators are not easy to raise,” Sasha said, giving him a look and sounding a bit worried.
Sasha had no way to deal with this very willful father and daughter pair. She knew that her previous words to Liu Heming about not spoiling Alex too much had been wasted.
She wasn’t too worried about the Big Bear because she knew that although Liu Heming could be reckless, he would never neglect their daughter’s safety.
As for Liu Heming, even though Sasha scolded him, he felt happy inside. It showed that she cared about him.
The Big Bear was still a bit nervous and seemed restless here.
Liu Heming didn’t dare delay. He went to the fridge and found some fresh chicken legs and chicken breast. He put them in Xiong Da’s food bowl, added some Small Lake Water, and brought it to the Big Bear.
The Big Bear let out a low growl, but this time the volume was much lower. Liu Heming guessed it was telling the two Bear Cubs to eat.
Xiong Da and Xiong Er ran to the food bowl, took one look, and then ran away. Having lived as bears for so long, who would eat raw meat now? Besides, there wasn’t even any soup.
“You two Bear Cubs, you’re being picky now. We just got home. There’s no time to cook. This is for your mom to eat,” Liu Heming said, giving them an annoyed look.
“Dad, is the big bear the little bear’s mom?” Alex asked, holding the Baby Alligator as she came closer.
“Yes, they got separated when they were little, so Dad brought it back,” Liu Heming nodded.
“Oh, just like Alex and Dad. You be good and eat more. Then you can play with the little bear and tell it bedtime stories,” the little girl said seriously as she came to the Big Bear’s side.
Sasha shook her head helplessly. She had just scolded Liu Heming, and now her daughter was doing the same thing. But what surprised her was that after her daughter finished speaking, the Big Bear went to the food bowl and started eating hungrily. While eating, it often looked up to check on the Bear Kids.
The Bear Kids longed for freedom. They had been under the big bear’s management for half a day and now wanted to sneak away to play somewhere else. But as soon as they went a short distance, the Big Bear ran, trotted, and roared, chasing them back.
This time, the Bear Kids refused to accept it. They also raised their necks and roared loudly.
“Dexter, do you think they are communicating?” Sasha asked curiously.
“Pretty much. Probably the big bear said to stay close so they don’t get lost again. And the little bears said this is our territory, we won’t get lost. That’s probably what it meant,” Liu Heming said, pinching his chin.
“And now?” Sasha asked again after seeing the Bear Kids sit quietly to the side, watching the Big Bear eat.
“Now, it’s clear that the Bear Kids know they have to listen to their mom,” Liu Heming said seriously.
It was unclear if the communication between the Big Bear and the Bear Kids was exactly as Liu Heming translated, but it seemed to have some effect.
After the Big Bear finished the food in the bowl, it turned into a mother hen. It no longer restricted the Bear Cubs from going off to play, but insisted on following them.
Actually, the Bear Cubs’ usual range of activity wasn’t very large. They either followed Alex around or played by themselves near the house. Liu Heming thought it seemed like the Bear Cubs were showing the big bear around.
The Big Bear situation was temporarily not a worry, but the Baby Alligator still needed attention. To be honest, adult alligators looked fierce, but when they were small, they looked kind of cute. He also prepared some chicken strips for the Baby Alligator. Not knowing how much it ate, he didn’t dare give too much—just half a chicken leg’s worth.
“Dad, water water,” Alex said, lifting the Baby Alligator’s back leg and pointing at it.
Liu Heming looked closely. The Baby Alligator’s back leg seemed to have some wounds that were now a bit inflamed. Its alligator skin was starting to peel a little.
“Did you bring it back because you saw it was injured?” Liu Heming asked his daughter.
“Yes, Little Wormy is so pitiful,” Alex nodded vigorously.
Liu Heming sighed inwardly. This was probably the effect of Animal Affinity, making his daughter increasingly unable to bear seeing animals get hurt.
He found his Medicinal Liquid, then flipped the Baby Alligator over so its belly faced up. After carefully applying the medicine to the Baby Alligator’s wounds, he found a small stool and tied the Baby Alligator to it.
“Dad, why are you tying it up?” Alex asked curiously, squatting nearby.
“It needs to heal its wounds first. Otherwise, if it crawls on the ground, our medicine will be wasted,” Liu Heming said with a laugh.
He was actually tricking his daughter. Although tying it up helped the Baby Alligator’s wounds heal, the main reason was to keep her from holding it all the time.
Just then, the Square Kittens came over. They squatted by the stool and started playing with the Baby Alligator’s tail using their paws. Alex, being playful, thought it looked fun and joined the Square Kittens.
Liu Heming felt a bit sorry for this Baby Alligator. He didn’t know what would happen in the future. For now, it seemed to be a toy for his daughter and the Square Kittens. The only reason the Bear Kids weren’t joining in was because their Mother Bear was managing them strictly. The only animals in this household that didn’t cause worry were Selin and Charming Girl, probably because they were older.
He went to check on the Big Bear again. Luckily, it had adapted a bit and wasn’t as alert as when it first arrived. This made Liu Heming feel a bit relieved. Otherwise, if they kept roaring for no reason, he wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night.
