Chapter 79: Achieving the Extraordinary!

Inside the void space of the Bronze Anchor, the long-dead Crimson Serpent suddenly opened its eyes again.

Eyes blood-red, shimmering with a mysterious glow.

All its scales abruptly stood on end as it lifted its head in a silent roar.

It was like rebirth!

Gao Jing was completely unaware.

Under the colossal mammoth’s terrifying pressure, his mind was teetering on the edge of collapse.

His burning fighting spirit and passion simply couldn’t bridge the huge difference in life levels between them.

Even though the mammoth was just a projection of laws!

But Gao Jing wasn’t afraid. He didn’t retreat. He kept staring hard at the huge creature ahead.

Until the dragon’s roar shook the heavens and earth!

Wind whipped the clouds above, the ground trembled and cracked, spilling bright red magma from its fissures.

It felt like the end had come!

Then Gao Jing saw it. In the mammoth’s cold, distant eyes, there was actually fear!

It seemed to want to escape.

BOOM!

A fiery, crimson serpent, carrying countless tons of magma, burst from the cracked earth. Its huge mouth suddenly opened wide and swallowed the mammoth whole, even though the mammoth was hundreds of times larger!

After swallowing the mammoth, the crimson serpent rapidly shrank. In an instant, it turned into a flash of light and shot straight at Gao Jing.

It struck him right on his left chest!

Gao Jing didn’t even have time to dodge. He only felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He looked down involuntarily. On his chest now was a glowing crimson seal, like a tattoo.

It was the lifelike image of a crimson serpent.

As Gao Jing watched, this crimson serpent rune broke through his skin and sank inside. Finally, it branded itself onto his very heart!

Thump! Thump! Thump!

His heartbeat suddenly became heavy and powerful, like war drums beating.

The next moment, a brand new power surged forth from his heart.

This mighty force, along with his pumping blood, flooded into Gao Jing’s limbs, bones, guts, and inner organs.

It soaked into every inch of his skin, flesh, sinew, and bone!

Gao Jing clenched his fists tightly. The muscles in his arms, chest, back, and legs bulged and swelled.

His bones all over his body rattled like rain hitting banana leaves!

The great Titan Totem on his back changed from crimson to gold. Then, in the blink of an eye, it sank beneath his skin completely and disappeared.

As his heart pounded fiercely, the power filling Gao Jing’s body grew stronger and stronger.

It forced him taller! Bigger!

“AAAHHH!”

The immense pain of flesh tearing forced even the tough-willed Gao Jing to let out a heart-wrenching cry.

It was heard by Shan Guoer, who was waiting anxiously by the wooden table.

She immediately turned her big, worried eyes towards the Elder Shaman.

“It’s alright.”

The Elder Shaman patted the little girl’s head comfortingly. “He will succeed.”

He sounded very certain.

Shan Guoer nodded.

She certainly trusted her Grandpa.

If Grandpa said Gao Jing could succeed, then he definitely would!

The Elder Shaman thought for a moment, then said, “Go play outside for now. I’ll call you if needed.”

Though not very willing, the little girl obediently listened to her grandfather.

She grabbed her beloved teddy bear and left the wooden house.

The Elder Shaman took a small ball of crushed tobacco leaves from a pouch at his waist, packed it into his pipe, and lit it.

He took a few deep puffs.

Puff… Puff…

His gaze never left the rune-marked plank on the table.

Despite having been a Grand Shaman in the past, even he couldn’t pierce the light cocoon enveloping Gao Jing to see what was happening inside.

This kind of situation, however, was something the Elder Shaman had never encountered before.

Not even after presiding over countless Totem Warrior ascension ceremonies!

The Elder Shaman smoked. His eyes, tempered by long ages, held glimmers like points of starlight.

He waited until the white light emanating from the plank finally faded.

Gao Jing’s figure became visible again.

Just moments before, Gao Jing had felt truly incredible.

His body had actually grown much larger. He must have been over eight feet tall! His muscles had bulged more than The Governator’s, brimming with explosive power.

It felt like one punch could shatter a planet!

Of course, that was just an illusion.

But he could clearly feel a profound change within himself – a rising of his life force.

He felt strong like never before!

His Giant Form only lasted a few minutes. Then, quickly, Gao Jing shrunk back to his original size.

However, the rune now embedded in his heart, and the surging power it contained… Gao Jing realized: the ascension was complete. He had become something… Extraordinary!

Whenever he wished, he could activate the rune’s power. He could awaken the Titan Totem.

And transform into…

YAO!

The joy in Gao Jing’s heart at this moment was truly impossible to put into words!

He stood frozen for a moment, just feeling it.

“Ahem!”

The Elder Shaman’s cough brought Gao Jing back to himself.

He took a deep breath and bowed respectfully towards the old man from the plank, whose light had now vanished.

Without this Elder Shaman, Gao Jing could never have achieved his dream.

He had achieved the extraordinary!

He didn’t say words of thanks yet.

He would remember this kindness!

“Congratulations…”

The Elder Shaman smiled. “…on becoming a Totem Warrior. You can put your clothes on now.”

Gao Jing was stunned.

Only now did he realize he was completely naked.

His pants were gone too!

Rats!

Gao Jing’s face flushed bright red. He hurried over to grab his clothes and get dressed.

Luckily, his backpack held spare clothes and shoes. Otherwise, he’d have had to quickly stitch together some animal hide for coverage.

Once dressed, another thought struck Gao Jing.

He had chosen the Titan Totem. Succeeding meant gaining the Giant Form ability.

But did that mean… every time he went giant… he’d end up like that TV naked survival guy?

That’d be fine alone, but what if others were around?

The mental image was… embarrassing.

He felt a deep… groinal sorrow.

He suddenly really wanted to know what pants the Hulk wore!

“I see the light of your Totem upon you.”

The Elder Shaman looked intently at Gao Jing. A flicker of curiosity shone in his wise eyes. “So… can you control your own Totemic Power now?”

Gao Jing thought for just a second before understanding. “Yes!”

He tried using his mind to draw upon the power held within the Crimson Python Rune. Instantly, he felt the Titan Totem surge to life on his back!

Totemic Power flooded his whole body!

Without meaning to, he clenched his fists. Both his arms swelled – the suddenly bulging muscles almost bursting the sleeves.

He immediately released the totemic energy.

He didn’t fancy being shirtless again.

That’s when Gao Jing discovered he could control which parts of his body to enlarge, exactly as he pleased!

Wherever his mind went, the Ttemic Power could change its size freely!

It was so simple.

This was incredibly cool!!

Gao Jing was like a big kid with a new toy. He kept using his Totemic Power to inflate different bits of his body.

He even succeeded… downstairs.

He couldn’t help but grin a very specific grin all men would understand.

The Elder Shaman sat quietly, watching Gao Jing enjoy himself enormously. He didn’t interrupt.

But in the eyes of this Mountain Giant Elder Shaman, a strange mix of amazement and confusion was visible.

Never before!

No one ever just became a Totem Warrior and could handle their Totemic Power so smoothly!

Not even those blessed with the innate Primordial Totem!

Ancestors above…

Had he made a genius… or a monster?!
