Chapter 248: Unbearable!
Chapter 248: Unbearable!
Time Milk Tea Shop.
Gao Jing had received a call from his half-sister and arranged to meet her here.
The last time he had seen Gao Yuanyuan was on New Year’s Eve night.
They had eaten the New Year’s Eve dinner together.
After two months, Gao Yuanyuan looked much healthier than before.
She had gained quite a bit of weight, no longer looking all skinny and droopy. Her full cheeks showed the youthful glow of a young girl, and her big eyes had become bright and pretty.
It was like she was completely transformed!
“Big brother.”
But Gao Yuanyuan’s personality stayed mostly the same. She still seemed a bit shy when she saw Gao Jing.
“You sit down first.”
Gao Jing asked, “What do you want to drink? I’ll go buy it.”
Gao Yuanyuan pursed her lips and answered softly, “Um, just… just bubble tea, with three sugars.”
Gao Jing smiled. He went to the counter, ordered a cup of bubble tea, and got himself a cup of lemon tea.
He came back and sat down again. He asked his sister, “What’s wrong?”
Earlier on the phone, Gao Yuanyuan had sounded nervous and hesitant, not explaining clearly.
Gao Jing felt something was off, so he agreed to meet and talk in detail.
Gao Yuanyuan looked around subconsciously. After hesitating, she said, “Um, these past few days, when I go to school or come back from evening self-study, I feel like someone is secretly following me.”
Gao Jing’s eyes instantly turned dark. “Did you see clearly who it was?”
Gao Yuanyuan shook her head, then said, “It… it seemed like a man, but I didn’t dare to look closely.”
She stared at Gao Jing with worried eyes. “Big brother, I… I don’t know what to do!”
Gao Jing asked, “Did you tell anyone?”
Gao Yuanyuan shook her head again.
She was naturally timid. Facing something like this, she felt scared inside. She didn’t want her mom to worry, so she hadn’t told Ge Guizhi either. After thinking it over, she finally called Gao Jing.
In this young girl’s heart, her brother Gao Jing was already the person she could count on most in the whole world.
Even though Gao Jing wasn’t very close to her.
“Today is Saturday.”
Gao Jing said, “Just stay home these two days and don’t go out. Wait for me to call you.”
Gao Yuanyuan nodded, then asked worriedly, “Big brother, do you think we should call the police?”
Call the police?
If calling the police could solve every problem, that really would be great.
Gao Jing knew very well that the trouble Gao Yuanyuan faced had probably been brought by him.
His anger inside uncontrollably turned into murderous intent!
A few days ago, while training with the Spirit Gu, Gao Jing had thought to himself.
If Liang Zhiqiang only threatened him with words and didn’t really take action.
Then giving him a small lesson would be enough. There was no need to make it bloody or fight to the death.
After all, this was the Primary World, not the Great World.
But facts showed his thought was a bit naive. Liang Zhiqiang’s threat wasn’t just in words!
“Calling the police won’t work.”
Gao Jing said in a low voice, “We don’t have any proof. Don’t worry. I’ll handle this matter.”
“Hmm.”
Gao Jing didn’t say how he would handle it, but Gao Yuanyuan felt much safer.
Gao Jing stayed with his sister until she finished her bubble tea. Then he walked her home.
The Jinghuayuan where Gao Yuanyuan and Ge Guizhi now lived was a mid-high-end neighborhood. The security and management there were very good.
Plus, the building originally belonged to Fuli Group. Everyone living in the whole building was an executive or technical staff from Fuli Group. So safety at home wasn’t a problem.
No matter how arrogant Liang Zhiqiang was, he absolutely wouldn’t dare send people to openly commit crimes in the neighborhood.
But the other side had already threatened his family member.
Gao Jing could not take it anymore!
Two days went by quickly. It was Monday morning.
Gao Yuanyuan ate breakfast made by her mom as usual, grabbed her school bag, and went out to go to school.
As she walked out the neighborhood gate, she looked around subconsciously.
Then she quickened her steps toward the subway entrance.
Jinghuayuan was only a few hundred meters from the nearest subway station.
It was the morning rush hour. Lots of people were going in and out of the subway. Gao Yuanyuan followed the crowd through the ticket gate.
At that moment, the young girl didn’t know that a pair of eyes was staring fixedly from behind!
It was a tall, skinny young man with long hair. He wore jeans and sneakers, and had a black mask on.
He blended into the crowd. The way he looked at Gao Yuanyuan was like a snake watching its prey.
But this tall, long-haired guy didn’t know something.
While he was watching Gao Yuanyuan, someone was also watching him!
Not long after Gao Yuanyuan left the neighborhood, Gao Jing noticed this suspicious-looking follower with shifty eyes and behavior.
If Gao Yuanyuan stood in front of Gao Jing then, she definitely wouldn’t have recognized her brother.
Gao Jing had changed into plain casual clothes. His height went from 1.85 meters to 1.95 meters, broad-shouldered and strong like a bear. His face also changed a lot. He looked like a boxing or martial arts fighter who spent too much time at the gym.
Even though this look drew some attention, it completely prevented him from being recognized.
Gao Jing quietly moved closer to the long-haired man. They both got on the subway.
And were in the same car as Gao Yuanyuan.
The subway car was packed with people. The long-haired man squeezed through the crowd, slowly getting nearer to Gao Yuanyuan.
This made Gao Jing tense up inside.
Then Gao Yuanyuan sensed something.
She turned her head. Her gaze met the long-haired man staring at her.
He didn’t come any closer, but he didn’t look away either. His eyes showed a fierce and scary glare.
Gao Yuanyuan got a big fright from his look. She quickly looked down, not daring to glance back.
She trembled and shrank toward the corner of the car.
Gao Yuanyuan’s odd behavior got the attention of several people nearby.
The long-haired man turned his head away casually.
After five stops, they reached the station near her school. Gao Yuanyuan hugged her bag and hurried off the subway in a panic.
The long-haired man followed immediately.
He trailed her out the subway exit.
Like a hungry wolf after a lamb, totally without fear!
But as the long-haired man walked down the steps, he suddenly felt a sting like a bug bite on the back of his neck. His scalp went numb, his eyes turned black, and his whole brain seemed to stop working.
His legs went weak. He fell straight down the steps. His body hit the ground hard.
Thud!
“Ah!”
Screams and shouts burst out all around.
A few helpful pedestrians came over. They bent down to check the long-haired man.
They saw he had fallen headfirst, his face bloody. His eyes were tightly shut, teeth clenched. The visible half of his face looked as pale as paper.
Someone yelled for help. Someone else called the police.
Gao Jing walked past without a glance. He didn’t even look at the fallen long-haired man.
If nothing went wrong, this guy probably wouldn’t die.
But someone had to die!
He watched Gao Yuanyuan run into the school gate. Then he changed direction and went to the roadside.
He stopped a taxi that was passing by, empty.
After getting in, Gao Jing told the driver, “Sir, go to Jian’an Building.”
Jian’an Building was exactly where Jiangnan Minghui Biotechnology was located!
